Synthesis: This source only begins to differentiate the main components of school cheer and competitive cheer.  I plan to use this source to explain the difference between the two types of cheer, because they are very different and often times when people hear the word “cheer” they think of high school cheer.

My involvement in my fandom used to be more proactive.  Although cheerleading is still my fandom, I am not proactively involved in it as much as I use to be.  At one point in my cheer career I was not only cheering but I was coaching as well.  As I decided that cheerleading was becoming too stressful on my body, I stuck with coaching teams and tumbling classes.  Now that I am in college and not able to coach, I sadly can only keep up with well known cheer teams and cheer teams that I have coached at home via youtube and other forms of social media.  I definitely wish I was able to at least coach cheer, as it  was my favorite aspect about the fandom because it gave me validation that I was a good cheerleader.

The fandom that I am profiling for my project is the Obama family.  I have a lot of prior knowledge of the Obama’s as I am a huge Obama fan.  I know more about Barack’s policies that he advocated for and implemented.  I used to be a political science major, so I know a lot more about the Obama’s and the influence they had/have on the political realm than I do about their personal life.  With that being said, I want to know more about the Obama’s personal lives.

A fandom that I participate with the most is Allstar cheerleading.  I used to partake in competitive cheer and performed in the highest level of Allstar cheer (level 5).  I have been honored to compete in the largest competition in Allstar cheerleading, which is the Worlds competition.  In addition, I have also coached and managed multiple teams with including various age groups and skill level and have carried out tumbling classes.
