hopelessness and apathy are the biggest roadblocks to progress, imo.
choose defiant optimism instead! become part of the 3.5% needed to actively participate in a movement to create change!
i promise you that doing *something* will feel better than doing nothing at all. doing something, anything, will always feel better than hanging around online in comment sections spreading hopelessness.
join in, participate, be part of a community, volunteer (even if all you have the energy/time for is online!), let your actions match up with what you say your values are.
you're going to feel better because of it, and it's going to give you the energy & motivation you need to keep going. you just have to start.

(I finally changed my bio to include Saiki k, so my brain will now allow me to have this on my blog)
"Unspoken rules are a strange concept if you think about it. For example, in the men's restroom it's considered an unspoken rule to leave one urinal as a buffer, not to make eye contact, and never to talk. But as I'm talking about it now, should I consider it a spoken rule? Or should I still consider it an unspoken rule?"

I don't care, as long as you actually consider it.

How long would Saiki be mad for?
lmaooo canon 😂
I don't think he'd be mad exactly, it would just add to the pile of reasons for his daily grumpiness haha

Challenge: Powerscale two characters, but you have to take into account their personalities and why they would possibly be fighting. What is the win condition? You can say they wouldn't outright fight, they would do xyz instead of fighting, one would fight and the other wouldn't, ect.

It seems like people want an appropriate target to hate more than they want to do the work of fixing things.
Speaking as a survivor of child sex abuse: the world would be a lot better if yall spent less time talking about the ways in which pedophiles should be punished and more time supporting survivors and preventing abuse
I get it, punishment can feel cathartic. I’ve certainly spent time imagining all the ways in which my own abuser might be punished. But ultimately, him dying, or being jailed, or publicly shamed, isn’t actually going to help me nor will it stop more kids from getting hurt in the future.
I don’t want more prisoners. I want free therapy with trauma informed counselors. I want better sex education for young children that teaches them about consent and body autonomy. And I want a society in which I can openly discuss my trauma, or at least as openly as yall discuss the evils of pedophiles

There's this charity I just found out about called cool earth. The mission is to give indigenous people in the rain forests money to get by, so that they don't have to rely on logging or mining companies for money.

Can people stop sending TERFs death threats? I know they are awful, but another death threat won't change their mind about anything. It just makes them angrier and gives them more examples of "how violent those horrid trans people are". If the only trans person or ally they ever see is telling them to kill themselves every day, they won't be open to thinking any differently ever.
I'm not suggesting everyone talk to them nicely or debate them or whatever, but at least don't add fuel to the fire.
And if any TERFs see this, please don't argue your points here. I don't want to see that. I do support trans rights.

Isn't Delaware the video game that will finally release chapters 3 and 4 this summer after years of waiting? The one with the purple lesbian that eats pencils and chalk?
hold on a fucking second. delaware is a state?? i thought it was a river? or is the river more important than the state? why don't i know this? (i should mention i don't like in america, i'm just confused)
there is delaware (state) and delaware (river)
both are equally strange
the state is a tiny little cryptid thing
the rive is a monster that spans new york, pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. also washington crossed it once and that was like kinda a big deal i guess. like crossing the rubicon in rome.
the state tries to me more important with its “im the first state!!!” bs (seriously its even on the fucking license plates) but we all know. its the river.

So…it’s 2025. We’re almost halfway through this year and there are literally so many things happening right now that are scary, tragic, and rage inducing. Yet social media is still full of myths about reselling, thrifting, and who "deserves" secondhand clothes.
I’m bored with it. Online squabbles about who should have access to secondhand clothing and where they are “allowed” to buy it are distractions from the larger issues facing the world right now. Furthermore, these battles take the focus off of the real villains: the fashion industry and its overproduction of low quality clothing made of synthetic fibers.
While I’m bored and tired of fighting back against these kinds of messages, I also know that the future is secondhand…or more specifically: we need MOST people buying secondhand clothing MOST of the time. Right now we live in a “golden era” of shopping secondhand…if you’re the customer! But the infrastructure as it exists right now for the people doing the work of finding, repairing, cleaning, and selling secondhand clothing is…not perfect. It’s not equitable. It has a long way to go to be better.
In this week's episode of the podcast, I am joined by Valeria Brenner of Thryft Ship to dissect how and why the current state of secondhand resale isn’t equitable for the people doing the work:
★ We will break down the reality of the fees that these platforms are charging (and how it makes running a financially sustainable business nearly impossible for secondhand resellers),
★ We will talk about how the socially ingrained expectation of free shipping makes that even more difficult,
★ And we will discuss how this system could be better! Maybe it will get some of you thinking about new tools and systems for the secondhand economy!
★ Also, Valeria will explain why the secondhand reseller community is so amazing.
I receive a lot of emails from people who want to make a career shift into sustainability. Here is my advice: look for ways to make the secondhand supply chain more efficient and equitable. Think more about circular solutions beyond even clothing. Because a better future requires a better secondhand system!
