"Working tirelessly for a ceasefire" (and other lies)
Donald Trump is not deeply invested in peace and, honestly, doesn't work hard for anything.
And yet....
Tumblr media
A social media post telling Israel to stop doing something was moderately effective.
But fundamentally, nothing that we ever said was, Just stop the war.
-- Jack Lew, Biden's Ambassador to Israel
He continued: "The message we’ve stuck to, with quite a bit of discipline, is: Free the hostages, ceasefire, pathway to end the war."
All the Biden folks cared about (and they said this too, all the time) was getting hostages back, no matter how many Palestinians they murdered while doing so and a "pathway" to ending the war (this always included heavier Israeli occupation and Israeli expansion).

Iran celebrated, Israel celebrated the end of the war, and Gaza waits and calls, but no one listens. The war between Iran and Israel is over, but the war in Gaza is not over. Children are still dying, families are still being displaced, walking long distances, homes are still being demolished over the heads of those inside, and injustice still exists. Also, don't forget that hunger has never left people, but more importantly, Tumblr users, listen to me with your hearts. I always write posts asking you to participate with me and donate to my family, but unfortunately, I only find a few who do. If you want to do something for Palestine and for my family, you can donate via the link here. This donation campaign is what enables us to live in Gaza, which has been overlooked and is no longer cared for by many people.

Check my blog’s archives. It’s in there.
It’s astounding the democratic establishment was so racist as to refuse to protest Biden’s genocide, assaulted protestors, funded ICE, and alienated their base so much that they let Trump run as a peaceful dove and now we might get into a nuclear exchange. Astounding stuff

...with devastating consequences for people and wildlife Eight police officers linger with their backs to the two-hectare (five-acre) site known as Stocamine. The place is nondescript in the morning drizzle: two mine shafts, some modern-looking office buildings, a staff car park, lines of landscaped trees. The reason for the police presence, however, is what lies beneath: 42,000 tonnes of toxic waste stored under our feet. Stocamine, which lies in the old industrial town of Wittelsheim, Alsace, once held an old potash mine. Now, the mine shafts are closed, storing poisonous waste from elsewhere. Above the mine shafts is one of Europe’s largest aquifers. Some fear this toxic waste won’t stay sealed in the mine. In time, scientists say it could seep into the Alsace aquifer, which feeds into the Upper Rhine aquifer running between France, Switzerland and Germany, potentially contaminating the drinking water of millions of people. Contained in the mine are substances that have been linked to mass die-offs in wildlife, which could have severe and longlasting effects on ecosystems. On 17 June, a judge upheld the decision of the government and ruled the waste should stay and be smothered in tonnes of concrete to avoid it leaking out. Those campaigning for it to be removed have called the decision “a timebomb for future generations”. Today, the main visitors are 30 cyclists in plastic ponchos, with a couple of children and support vehicles in tow. They have come to protest, but only last a short while in the rain before leaving. “It’s rare the police aren’t here,” says Yann Flory, a retired sports teacher who campaigns against leaving waste in the mine and has organised more than 20 demonstrations since 1989. Flory started fighting against the mine because he had small children. Now he is doing it for his grandchildren. “It won’t be for tomorrow. Maybe I won’t be impacted any more. I’m too old. But my children, my grandchildren, surely they will,” he says. “We are convinced that one day or another, the water we drink will be irreversibly polluted.”

Emergency, read my story and help me ‼️
Please Replog Or Donate For My Family and my cat 🐈💔🙏
I am reham, his condition, and all the families of Gaza are very difficult, they do not have the necessities of life, no medicine, no food, no health, no education, nothing but death and destruction I appeal to everyone who sees my campaign to stand by my family, Whether by donating or sharing the story with your friends to raise an amount that will help my family get out of Gaza safely 💔🍉
I am a nurse at Nasser and Al-Khair Hospital in Khan Yunis I also used to work for Dentist K But at the present time, I have lost my job, which was a source of income for me and my family in the past, and now all I will have left is the donation link that I made in order to help my family, about thousands. But it takes time I hope to achieve the goal of my campaign.
I also want to do charitable work and spread the first aid course to children and women because we really need that urgently at the present time because of this war and genocide that we are exposed to.I lost my brother because of this war, and I really miss him. The loss is painful.
My mother is sick and needs treatment, and my little brother, whose name is Ali, suffered from jaundice due to the food contamination to which we were exposed. Your donation, I use it for my family and provide them with healthy food.
I have been afflicted with a great emptiness and depression because of his distance from me. I hope you pray for him too, may God have mercy on him. 💔🥺🙏
Donate 5$ enough the change my life

He should form a commission to test all the possible bludgeons on Cuomo for the level of satisfaction reported by onlookers, and then officially use one whichever one ranks highest. First they should do all the sports-related ones, but they should also try other non-weapon objects — tire irons, pipe wrenches, broomsticks, meat tenderizers — and then go through actual bludgeoning weapons so there’s a baseline for comparison. It would be for science!

I don't know how long this will last, but the situation here in Gaza is getting worse every day after the war between Iran and Israel. I forgot about Gaza. No one talks about us anymore, and the news doesn't mention us. All that is being discussed is Iran, Israel, and America. It's as if they forgot that the main problem is Gaza.

It depends on who’s writing the encounter, obviously.
Terry Pratchett was not afraid to put lampshade cameos in his early books — there’s that bit where the witches meet an unnamed obviously-meant-to-be-Gollum in Witches Abroad and whack him over the head and leave him unconscious/dead.
If Pratchett was writing the encounter, then definitely the Pratchett character would come out on top. Most likely, this would be accomplished by sudden unexpected realism — the Bugs character would try a cartoon bit and it would fail and the narration or the characters would comment that in the real world things don’t work that way. In addition, he’d definitely come off as being basically a villain, most likely the text would mention the long list of his earlier victims. And Pratchett wasn’t afraid to kill antagonistic characters who were mortal threats to his cast, either — look at Hogfather or Night Watch. A Pratchett-written Bugs Bunny might well end up becoming hasenpfeffer at last, although certainly not actually eaten by a protagonist.
If the Loony Tunes people were writing the encounter, then Bugs would only lose if he were the antagonist, which does happen now and then in the cartoons — but it is worth noting that the encounter would not actually be fatal for him or the Pratchett character he faced, because it would be cartoons in a cartoon setting. (And OP is flat-out wrong about Vetinari — Vetinari would keep reappearing out of nowhere like the scene in Guards! Guards! where Wonse is fleeing through the ruins of the palace. He might not “win” the encounter, whatever that would mean in context, but Bugs wouldn’t actually outsmart or escape him, there would be some convenient thing which settled the problem, such as Bugs accidentally finding the real culprit if Vetinari were trying to capture him, or being able to pay off his tax debt via unlikely means, or whatever.)
I've been thinking of the "Can Granny Weatherwax beat Bugs Bunny" question and this is my full take for Discworld characters:
Vimes - Cares too much, too easy to piss off. Has the innate chase instinct that makes characters run into walls with realistic tunnels painted on them. Might get to arrest Bugs Bunny but the beast will just slip out of the handcuffs to help him lock them, then walk out of the jail cell to have a union mandated coffee break.
Ridcully - Classic hunting season scenario, but has enough charisma to probably still get a few good shots off before the inevitable.
Rest of the wizards - No survivors, only Bugs.
Carrot - The intense near-magical narrative aura of well meaning innocence should make him immune, Bugs will likely be forced to be the villain of the episode.
Lord Vetinari - Flattened by a comically large anvil in the first few minutes of the episode, unclear if it was all a part of his long term strategy or not.
Moist - Has the 'lovable trickster getting away with it' energy, but nowhere near Bugs level. Already fell for the "old lady who swallowed a fly" scenario with the stamp slugs once, won't fare any better here.
Death - Definitely one of those "character is trying to avoid death" episodes, would go back and forth. Might actually get to end Bugs but his spirit will reappear in Death's domain and ruin his garden.
Nanny Ogg - The ultimate in anti-Bugs technology, a gleefully annoying old lady who doesn't give a fuck and definitely won't be the first to instigate the plot bearing conflict. This is a full sweep, he's the episode antagonist.
Granny Weatherwax - Too win-motivated to not lose. Would have to break the story to have any chance. Might do it.
Magrat - Will have sappy ideas about helping the poor animal which honestly has the 50:50 chance of either getting slapsticked or Bugs ending in a ye olde stroller&pacifier gag.
Colon&Nobby - Designed in a lab to be totaled by Bugs Bunny.
Tiffany Aching - A child that also has a large pan that is the perfect thing to hit someone over the head with and make a BOIOIOINGGG sound, so great odds.

Islamabad criticises Washington's bombing of Iranian nuclear sites less than 24 hours after backing US President Donald Trump for a Nobel Peace Prize. Pakistan has condemned the US President Donald Trump's decision to bomb Iran, a day after recommending him for a Nobel Peace Prize for defusing a recent crisis with India and describing him as "a genuine peacemaker". Islamabad on Sunday criticised Washington for attacking Iran, saying that the strikes "constituted a serious violation of international law" and the statute of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "The unprecedented escalation of tension and violence, owing to ongoing aggression against Iran is deeply disturbing. Any further escalation of tensions will have severely damaging implications for the region and beyond," Pakistan’s foreign ministry said. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a phone call Sunday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, expressed his concern that the bombings had targeted facilities that were under the safeguards of the IAEA.

If you're in NYC and you haven't voted yet I'm gonna need you to go tomorrow and rank Zohran Mamdani #1. Tomorrow is the last day for early voting and then you won't get a chance again until Tuesday. It's extremely important that we elect Zohran.
His platform centers the following:
Affordable housing
Freezing the rent
Fast and free busses
Department of Community safety
No cost childcare
City owned grocery stores
Taxing corporations and the wealthy to pay for all of this
Here is a direct link to the platform with more details.
DO NOT RANK CUOMO.
Andrew Cuomo is a rapist. He's a Zionist who is literally on Netanyahu's defense team against the ICC. And his primary interest is upholding the status quo. He's backed by billionaires and landlords. NYC cannot afford a mayor like this.
If you are registered to vote in NYC I'm begging you to do so. We have a real chance here
