Chill time for some nutrias, enjoying a lovely summer evening in our local river, in a former industrial area.

Not an everyday sight, but also nothing special for rural areas in Romania. Only three persons marvel and take pictures of this peaceful inter-species gathering, as you can notice :)

Overflowing geraniums proliferate in a sunny, socialist-era balcony. Well, the flowers are actually Pelargonium 🙂.

Preparations for the next winter. In some mountain areas, central heating for old apartments is still non existent, so the inhabitants must resort to wood burning in stoves. The apartment building has a centralised exhaust (chimney) and each individual stove is connected to it.

An unfair and irrelevant comparison of heights: the Church, the University and the private propriety. A mirrored image of the reality.

The moon, as it could be seen a few days ago, from Eastern Europe. No, I don't like it when it's in the full moon phase, when it looks like a boring flat dirty disk; I find it much more interesting when the sunlight hits its surface at some angle (from Earth's point of view) and reveals its round shape and the rough surface with craters 🌖🤩.
This image is quite a heavy crop from the original picture, but with a little Snapseed I think I pulled a decent-looking satellite.

The turquoise glow after sunset, visible mostly on clear summer... days?/nights? . Literally last rays of light, the afterglow of what was a summer's day.

A derelict country house with original furnishing still in; apparently it was inhabited until august 1999.

Just a cat chilling in a bird's nest, up in a willow tree. No bird or egg was harmed, the nest seems abandoned.

Yeah, I know I'm guilty of taking and posting eye-candy pics of Venice. But for me this place is so uninspiring for my usual dull and boring pictures, although I'm sure the appropriate subjects abound here too; and at least you have been spared from the "traditional" and ubiquitous pictures of the San Marco Square and Basilica 😛😂.

Pixels of Venice: An overcrowded Ponte della Paglia (Bridge of Straws), one of the most significant historic bridges of Venice; ironically, nowadays nobody really pays too much attention to it, yet almost every single visitor to Venice uses it and pauses on it to snatch the mandatory selfie with the iconic and legendary Bridge of Sighs, situated behind.
The original structure was built in 1360, making it the oldest stone bridge in Venice at that time (Wikipedia). The name “Ponte della Paglia” is derived from the straw (paglia) that was offloaded from boats mooring nearby. This straw was primarily used to supply the horses in the stables of the Doge’s Palace (Venice Travel Guide).

Although Venice is a city literally built on water, I I wouldn't have thought I could find tucked among shops with expensive goods and antiques, a little shop dedicated exclusively to... rubber ducks. And actually, there are two stores in two different locations!
