It's over ... thanks for all the love and attention!
It’s over … thanks for all the love and attention!
Tumblr media
Hey y’all,
so … over the past couple of weeks, I found out that maintaining my blog was more work than fun.  I was writing more for other people, than for myself.  Which is why – sorry – I decided to wrap things up.
I will henceforth put my time in other things like writing my stories, watching movies, playing videogames … but this movie blog, despite being a thing of beauty, has become more of a…

Hidden figures
History as you know it … showing its true colors!
Some stories are so great it’s hard to believe they’re real.  Take the story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson, for example.
Here’s three African-American women who served a vital role in the US space program of the NSA.  Three black women … in a time when America struggled hard with racism and bigotry.
What makes this…

xXx: Return of Xander Cage
xXx: Return of Xander Cage
Too fast … too furious – but this is the wrong movie!
The first of many promising blockbusters in 2017 is, unfortunately enough, not very promising.
xXx: Return of Xander Cageis a non-stop rollercoaster ride with some amazing stunts and an impressive cast of sexy women and cool guys, but … once the loud banging noise of explosions wears off … you’ll notice just how empty and predictable this…

Mean streets
This is where it all began …
Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese have worked together on numerous occasions, but it all started back in 1973 with the cult-classic Mean streets.  This low-budget crime movie may have been forgotten by today’s moviegoing cinema folk, but it’s a die-hard classic in every sense of the word …
First and foremost, there’s the acting of legendary actor Harvey Keitel.  He…

Teenage mutant ninja turtles: Out of the shadows
Teenage mutant ninja turtles: Out of the shadows
Awesome, dude!!
There is a very simple reason why Teenage mutant ninja turtles: Out of the shadows is one of the very best Turtles-movies ever made.  It features many classic characters from the comic-books and videogames.  The movie is literally crammed to the top with delicious humor, delightful action sequences and bad guys we’ve been looking forward to since the first Turtles-movie …
First…

Teenage mutant ninja turtles (2014)
Teenage mutant ninja turtles (2014)
Turn off your mind … and enjoy the ride!
The first question most people ask after watching the 2014-version of The teenage mutant ninja turtles is: ‘What the heck happened to the Turtles?  They’re ugly!  They’re monstrous freaks!!’  Truth is, the biggest flaw of this movie is also the most obvious one.  Yes, the Teenage mutant ninja turtles do look different … don’t they?
But once you’ve gotten…

TMNT
Lots of fun … but not as good as the original trilogy!
Despite being an obvious CGI-animated movie instead of the live-action one with the suits, TMNT continues the storyline of the original trilogy.  Shredderis no more, the Foot clan has been reduced to a small group of ninja-soldiers and the four Turtles have been separated as brothers.  Each one of them now does something different with their…

La la land
A modern masterpiece … but not for everyone!
It’s strange though.  The beginning of La la land is pretty weak.  People left and right start dancing and singing like it’s a normal thing – it’s not, especially now with president Scumbag Trumpdestroying the good ole US of A – but despite all the beautiful colors and absolute spot-on choreography in the film, it doesn’t really connect with the story …

Teenage mutant ninja turtles III: Turtles in time
Teenage mutant ninja turtles III: Turtles in time
The turtles are going back to their roots … cowabunga, dude!!
The reason why the third movie is better than the second is because it has more originality and a better story.  Truthfully, even with all the fun lying around, the third one cannot compete with the first one, but it’s definitely a slight improvement over the previous movie.
Not only does our favorite April-actress Paige Turco return…

Teenage mutant ninja turtles II: The secret of the ooze
Teenage mutant ninja turtles II: The secret of the ooze
Childish fun … simple but effective!
The one thing the Turtles-sequel doesn’t have is that edgy darkness and the baseball-bat swinging sidekick Casey Jones, which means, no wonderful performance of Elias Koteas.
The real reason remains a mystery, but apparently back in the day many parents thought the original movie was a tad too serious.  So they changed the sequel, and made it more accessible…

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
I love this movie!! … doesn’t anybody?
Anyone who grew up in the late ’70s, early ’80s has seen and loved this movie to death!  And with good reason.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesis the first movie ever made on the chelonian foursome and, much like the Batman-series, the first movie is still the best.  The new Turtles-movies may be more spectacular, that’s true, but the old ones stay truest…

Finding Dory
A watered down story … but still so beautiful!
After the success of Finding Nemo, bearing the notion that Pixar had started expanding on some of its classic stories, it wasn’t much of a surprise that they would also continue the underwater-events of our beloved fishes.  It’s just a pity that the story isn’t all that different from the first one …
Finding Dorytells the story of the other fish…

The thing (1982)
sNot just another horror movie …
There’s a very simple reason why the original thing is better – though only just – than the prequel that came out years later.  The thing from 1982 is the original one (not counting the silly ’50s movie everyone’s forgotten) spawning all the great ideas and unforgettable creepy atmosphere.
It’s a lot less of an action-packed CGI-adventure … and a heck more of a…

The thing (2011)
The perfect answer to the original movie …
The reason why many people haven’t seen the 2011-movie The thing is because they think it’s a remake of the classic 1982-version with Kurt Russell (also named The thing).  Don’t!  This movie is not a remake.  It’s a prequel.  It tells a story that happens before everything else …
The thingis quite original – to avoid confusing we’re only going to talk…

Live by night
Is this the same Ben Affleck as before?
Ben Affleck used to be a name that was synonym with lousy acting and cheesy American movies. From his rotten performance as a superhero (Daredevil) to the chick-flick, box-office flop Gigli, the man was draining himself to the bottom of Hollywood entertainment.
So he went away for a year or two … and came back stronger than ever!
Ever since his…

The great wall
Nothing great about this movie …
It’s easy enough to bash big Hollywood-movies for saying they’re empty and stupid.  And how other countries would fare better, if they’d ever been given a million-dollars to make a movie.  While this may be true, the opposite has been the case more often than not.  Or how the Chinese are just as bad – perhaps even more so – than some of the lowest American…

The Matrix revolutions
No more Matrix … this is war!
The one thing The Matrix revolutions does really well is to focus on the human world of Zion instead on the fake internet dreamworld we’ve seen so much about in the two previous movies.
Since it’s virtually (get it, virtually?)impossible to show anything more spectacular in the Matrix than a flying Neo or Trinity racing on the freeway in opposite direction … the…
