honestly i think #YesAllMen was a massive mistake and part of the death rattle of third wave feminism in its subsumption by capitalist class interests, because now you have cis women arguing with their whole chest that a no-op no-hormone they/she/he trans guy is ontologically a participant in Male Violence because Yes All Men, and no matter how hard you point out that this doesn't make sense the best you're going to get in response is "oh, so you're saying we should just misgender trans guys?"

My media consulting firm made ads for Mr. Mamdani, so maybe I’m a bit biased. But whether you agree with him on the issues or not, it’s clear from early results — and Mr. Cuomo’s stunning concession Tuesday night — that he succeeded. The race may not be called until next week, and the general election isn’t until November, but Mr. Mamdani indisputably managed to leap from obscurity to front-runner in mere months. He did so by staying relentlessly on message and grounding that message in affordability. Ask an Andrew Cuomo voter for some of his top policy ideas, and he or she will probably struggle to name one. Ask a Mamdani voter, and I bet he or she could name a few: “Freeze the rent,” “free buses,” “a city you can afford.” Mr. Mamdani also got creative about how to communicate his message. He broke through on social media with viral videos that reached beyond the professionally online crowd. Mr. Cuomo and some of his other rivals derided him as a “social media messenger,” as if that were an insult. They mocked his videos at the debates. Mr. Mamdani’s viral debate clip attacking Mr. Cuomo for his record of scandal and misconduct racked up over 10 million views on X and over a million more on TikTok. Sure, X is not real life, and virality alone doesn’t win elections, but actually motivating young people to go to the polls sure can.

A couple of things here:

1) This 100% gives the game away that they do not give a fuck about biology like they pretend and that this entire trans panic is about punishing gender non-conformity. If you believed what makes a woman her inmate biology or whatever the fuck buzzwords they're using today, then how is this response not hypocritical?

2) She's being charged with a felony for putting a wad of gum on a car. $3,000 worth of property damage. We are throwing a woman's life away for $3,000 worth of property damage. It's fucking horrifying.

The wildest part to me about ozempic backlash is the people acting like taking medication with a doctor's guidance is in any way as dangerous as having an untreated eating disorder.

Obviously there are doctors who harm patients but it kind of reminds me of the crunchy granola parents scaremongering about giving kids adhd medicine as if doctors can't be trusted to prescribe medicine appropriately.

it's the ridiculous misinformation about it in all directions - you're stealing drugs from righteous diabetics who are pure of heart, you're doing it out of self-hatred, you're taking experimental drugs with horrible side effects out of vanity, you're too lazy and lack the willpower to lose weight the right way, you must be ridiculously wealthy because nobody can afford these drugs, WHY DON'T YOU LOVE YOURSELF YOU FATPHOBIC BITCH?! as if it's a moral failing to take medication to correct a health problem that causes you discomfort or distress, physical or emotional! as if people aren't allowed to do what they want with their bodies even if the hosts of the maintenance phase podcast disagree with the political implications! as if there aren't enormous benefits way outside of weight loss that people aren't talking about because doing so would complicate the "these shallow rich bitches deserve what's coming to them" narrative! as if you're not still attaching moral worth to the size of someone's body by peddling these perceptions, even if it's in the opposite direction!

I cannot believe I have to say this but porn bots and scam bots are not harmless. Spreading them is not justifiable on the very slim chance that they are legit. These bots are used to spread viruses and malware and steal people's personal information, including bank info and social security numbers. Even if all they can get from someone is a one-time payment of money, that is still theft and a loss that many people cannot afford and in a lot of cases, that cash is used to fund things like human trafficking.

We know this. It's a proven fact with tons of studies and investigations. Scam farms are very real, very dangerous, and becoming more and more prevalent.

You cannot share posts that are almost definitely scams on the off chance that they might not be just because "it's only a few bucks!" The majority of the tumblr users making those donations are poor themselves and trying to help out in whatever way they can with the little money they have to spare. That few bucks is monumental to many of us and if we're going to give it away, then we want to know it'll actually go to organizations and people who need it, not to scammers or traffickers.
