I think that Mr Noles got married and sired an heir with the same mentality that drove him to buy that abandoned building across the street from Clarence's house. He thought it would be a smart & genius business move & investment, he was gonna rebuild & flip the house for profit. But then he decided that it wasn't worth it. So he left it in shambles. But it's still in his name and he still pays property taxes on it

That's what it's like with his family. he thought it would look good and be a great investment if he had a wife and son. But that was then and this is now. He's moved on to bigger and better investments. He doesn't want to deal with his son. He says that he wants him to take over the company but what he wants & says can change at any second. He is running on bull shark testosterone and cocaine. And he's insane. And he's the funniest character to ever come out of Cartoon Network save for Captain K'nuckles and maybe The Ice King

Roger Craig Smith had been voicing Belson for something like 5 goddamn years by then and then one day they handed him the script for "Belson Gets A Girlfriend" and he was porbbaly like Oh Ok so we're doing this one now. Yeah ok it's about time. Ok here we go

The cruel harsh reality is that if I made a Clarence-sona I couldn't give her Belson hair like I could with my dragon ball pichi-pichi-girl sona becasue that hair was inspired by how Belson's hair is drawn and I couldn't literally do that again with a Clarence sona becasue literally the show is Clarence and it's the show that Belson is from and I wouldn't want her to look like she's a Noles.

But literally literally literally that's the damn show that the hair is from like literally ... she SHOULD have that hair.

Ok Ok back up a moment. When I was 16 I was so deeply morbidly grossly obsessed with Belson becasue I saw myself in him (and projected a lot, and I could not handle the times when I was wrong) and a (admittedly small) part of that was that I felt like his family had my family's hair and I thought that that was cool. When I was 18 I got a haircut and literally had Belson hair

I've been growing it out ever since so now it's much longer and TBH not that fucking curly . I have a photo of me when I was 14 and I had such luscious curly locks . Nowadays I try to have beatitioful hair and it doesn't work. I mean it was shorter than but also I don't think I took care of it as well. WELL WHATEVER.

I've never made sonas and I don't do well with them but I've been growing & changing & hating myself less and a year or so ago I was able to humour the creation of a dragon ball pichi-pichi girl sona AKA a cute girl sona character to in theory help remedy how I've spent my life hiding in male characters and resenting any femininity I have. And for complex reasons regarding my sense of beauty , I needed something to vent this beauty into.

Well of course I drew her hair trying to be inspired by dragon ball artstyle but also when I could I'd doodle it exactly like how Belson's hair is drawn (or really Cynthia's, with the up-do). Becasue that's what I wanted .. that's what I thought would look good, be cute, and feel right.

So that's cool that I got to do that.

And I COULD, perhaps SHOULD, give a theoretical Clarence-sona that same hair artstyle, becasue this is actually the show that I got it from. There are a lot of characters with that loop-de-loop hair. She wouldn't stand out at all nor would she blend in too much with pre-existing characters.

But IDKKKKK. I'm not sold. I would like to give her the cute hairstyle that I gave to the pichi-pichi girl sona, which is a fluffy high-ponytail puff and curly bangs. But in real life I cannot get the ponytail to stay that high. I don't know how ppl do it. Furthemore my hair is too long to be that fluffy now. It kind of suuuucks. I'm conceiving of a manner in which I could draw her hair that would convey that while still being of the style of the show.

OR I could just .. do the fluffy fun pretty hair ......

The thing is I woke up at like 5 am this morning and did not fall back asleep until after I had thought up of a Clarence sona. I didnt know I wanted that but after I worked throuhg some ideas I felt peace and fell asleep. And Like. I have an awesome opporutiny

She can work in sales and be the worst at it (my real life) and wear all my cute pretty outfits that I get to wear to work for real in real life. WELL priobably just the most formal ones. And I'd probbaly make up one too. For her default

So I could really do something that's more realistic than fantastical. I have all the grounds for it.

"Belson Gets A Girlfriend" was at the end of the series so it kind of sucked and the art was kind of bad but it had the same good heads working on it so it wasnt becasue of staff turnover it was just becasue they had done everything they could think of already. And when they got to that episode they were like

We have to do it. We have to do it. We're greenlit for only a handful more episodes. We have to finally do it. We have to make the Belson episdoe. No Bodhi Backpack wasnt enough. Merry Mopochmas wasnt anything. Company Man & The Big Game just weren't it. We have to do it. We Have to make the epsidoe where Belson has feeliongs. We have to show that he feels positive things. And he has to have his feelings hurt. Someone has to tell him that no one likes him and that it's his fear of that that makes him so mean. And we have to get Jenny Slate to do it

Belson was a thoroughly utilized character and he often filled the much-needed antagonist role, and the writers were able to believably maintain his being insufferable while still also making him sympathizable. And it really felt like near the end there that they were wanting to make him redeemable. The Bodhi backpack episode . The Tunnel episode in which he saved Sumo's life . Belson Gets A Girlfriend . Even as far back as Capture The Flag, Belson at the end called Clarence "buddy" with the naturalistic ease of having genuinely felt it (as opposed to when on The Zoo episode, he said it in the moment, but it was deliberate, and he meant it with significance ... it just did not roll off the tongue then.)

My point is that it felt like the writers were wanting to give us a story where Belson was going to be okay, and that he wasnt going to hate for forever.

But I mean . He probably stays irredeemably insufferable . I mean. Unless he literally jumps ship and decides to live on a houseboat in Florida illustrating for National Geographic, he's going to try to follow in his father's footsteps in the worst way .

But I mean it'd be cool if he found happiness. It's not like I think about it all of the time or anything.
