ABOUT

Bernice 'benny' Lee is a singer-songwriter from Singapore. Her musical journey started when she took her first piano lesson at 6 years old. Having been intrigued with the arts from a young age, she had initial aspirations to be a painter. That, however, changed as the years went by.


In 2016, benny uploaded a cover of Jaymes Young's 'Habits of my Heart' as her first video on Youtube. She took a 1-year hiatus before uploading a second cover of The Walter's hit song, 'I love you so’ —this would become her most popular video on the channel. To this date, benny has garnered over 46,822 views with a subscribers count of 746. This has allowed her to grow a small fanbase within the community, creating more opportunity for collaborations with other aspiring artists.

After completing her O’Levels in 2017, benny went on to pursue a Diploma in Music and Audio Technology at Singapore Polytechnic. This helped her forge many good friendships with other local talents such as bedroom-pop artist, oolfs and Harist Sunil, bassist for Saints Amongst Sinners. Her growing social network helped path opportunities for her to promote some of her work.

In late 2018, benny reached out to Laos-based artist/producer, gomen, for a collaboration on a demo he did back in 2017. The pair conversed through SoundCloud for months, exchanging audio clips before settling on the final track, Yesterday. The song was then released on major streaming platforms like Youtube and Spotify on July 12 2019, making it benny’s debut as an artist.

Apart from her musical knowledge in piano, benny dabbles in other instruments like guitar, bass, ukulele and harmonica. She is a member of Singapore Polytechnic’s Harmonica Ensemble and has performed with them in their 2019 concert, Musica En Vivo IV. benny was also a backstage crew for the annual showcase, DMAT SHOW IX: SONOROUS in 2018 before earning the role of a creative director whilst being a performer for DMAT SHOW X: IRIDESCENCE in 2019.
