While I would have liked to present my final work in physical form, I think a website is still a good way to show it. Obviously because my work takes the form of models it isn’t as convenient to present it online compared to if my work was photoshop files or if I had done digital models but I think the pictures I have still allow the viewer to get a good sense of each model.

I think using the Sculpey instead of laser cut parts has improved the look of my swords a lot because they added a lot more depth and I was able to get a more hand made look compared to if they were perfect shapes. However I do think that laser cut pieces could have looked really good due to the fact that they would have been perfectly cut but from engravings on swords from this time, I think Sculpey was definitely the better choice.
I also think that theoretically if I had used aluminium tape instead of brush painting the blades I could have got a better finish because I don’t think the tape would have picked up as many of the imperfections in the blades. While I do think the blades look good and I was able to get the brush strokes to go down the blade which looked good in the right lighting, I should have at least made some test blades using aluminium tape so I could compare the two side by side.

The thing that I like about this fight scene is that you get to see the weapons interact with the set where a hammer is struck into a pillar and you can see the pillar crack and a load of dust flying off. I like this because it makes the weapons seem more believable as actual weapons because they are shown doing actual damage.

I really like this fight scene because the choreography is really good and there is always a lot going on because of how many characters there on screen. I also like how there are a lot of close up shots that show the actual actor using fighting to make it seem more like they actually are instead of a stuntman. As well as this I like the close up shots where you can see the swords in action because they still look so realistic even though they are made out of such light materials and the sound effects that get added in over the top when they blades hit really sells the idea.

It must be extremely hard for the actors in these fight scenes when they have had to build up extreme levels of muscle for a role because often they are made to dehydrate their bodies to eliminate as much water weight as possible by not drinking for days before shooting so it must be immensely physically draining to then have to film multiple takes of fight scenes for the whole day even though they will only use a light prop weapon.

Being a stuntman/woman clearly needs to be taken seriously and this website really highlights that by going through all the learning stages of becoming a stuntman/woman and how you have to very slowly and progressively build up your skills to make sure you look as natural and believable as possible.

I really like this fight scene because it has very fast and intense parts but overall it is quite a slow fight. I really like how the swords would have been made out of really light material but also would have to be very strong so I would assume they were made out of bamboo as it also helps to stop injuries because of how light it is so if someone actually gets hit they won’t get hurt.

Stunt men/women
Our members do not break rules. They break records. Looking for the best of the best in weaponry stunts? Look no further than the elite list of stuntmen we have compiled below.
https://www.stuntmen.com/members/weapons-skills/
To start a career as a stuntman, you need to train hard and develop relationships with industry professionals who can recommend you for future jobs. “Everyone gets into stunt work differently,” says Romberg. But the starting point for most working stunt performers is the same: an established set of physical skills.
To be a stuntperson, you constantly need to be training and honing your craft. Here are some suggestions from the pros on how to develop your career as a stuntperson:
https://www.backstage.com/magazine/article/how-to-become-a-stuntperson-65905/#:~:text=Back%20to%20top-,What%20skills%20do%20you%20need%20to%20be%20a%20stuntman%3F,%2C%20water%20skills%2C%20and%20sports.
I have a lot of respect of respect for stuntmen/women as athletes and as performers because they have to constantly train to be ready for roles whether it’s physically getting in shape or learning the choreography of a fight scene as well as eating right when they aren’t training to make sure they hit the right calories, macronutrients and to make sure they stay ready for whatever they are needed for.

I think this effect looks really good and works really well but I don’t like it with a sword like this. I understand the sword can just be an example for how to create this effect on other things but I even if this was used in a completely fantasy based world I still wouldn’t be a fan. If it was like Iron Man with his nano tech and you could see the sword being built up as it comes out then I would mind it or if it was like Gipsy Danger’s sword from Pacific Rim with all the individual pieces connecting to make a sword.

While I am not a fan typically of brightly coloured or glowing swords, I think this one works quite well because it isn’t the full blade glowing and it seems to fit in with the world quite well. I like that it is just a strip down the middle of the blade instead of the full blade or just the blade edge and it reminds me a lot of Sting from The Hobbit. I think it fits well with the world because it appears to be a fantasy world.

In this video the creator uses titanium, carbon fibre and foam core. The way he makes it is very clever as he only titanium for the blade edge and uses foam core covered with carbon fibre for the rest. I like this because it keeps the weight of the blade down so that it is still wieldable but also keeps the blade edge strong as well as the rest of the blade. I like that this build was heavily planned out because it allowed the outcome to be perfectly straight along the blade edge even though some parts ended up uneven or of centre.
