Over the years the Mercedes-Benz OM606 Turbo Diesel Engine has been called many things; it is a 3.0-liter inline-six engine produced from the 1990s, and it is known for its immense durability, consistent power, and incredible ease of tuning. Derived from models such as the W124 and W210 E-Class, this turbocharged engine – MB 105, provides around 174 HP Power at 1800-5400 RPMs, with 330 Nm torque at 1300- 4000 RPMs, which gives power and fuel efficiency for regular use and performance. Most notably, the OM606 is sought after for engine swap projects, classic Mercedes’ restorations, off-road vehicles owing to its longevity as well as flexibility to do modifications in as a bid to enhance its horsepower. Some of these are; a turbocharged system enhancing its fuel consumption, compatibility with previous model Mercedes automobiles, and the inline-six forming a great basis of its efficiency and silent operation. Highly regarded by many enthusiasts because of its versatility, the OM606 is still favored by motorists who wish to have a good and tunable diesel engine.
