- THE SEXUAL SYMBOLISM OF CAPRICORN -

*Note: this is not, in any way, a universal interpretation. This is one perspective on one aspect of one version of an archetype. I’m only analyzing symbolism, so you don’t have to take it literally or personally or at all if you don’t want to.

The symbol of the goat is historically notorious for its primal & powerful sexuality. Caprine deities and mythological creatures have run rampant in pursuit of physical pleasure throughout many different cultures, and these ancient perceptions of the goat (among other concepts) were adapted into the tenth Zodiac sign, Capricorn (from Latin Capricornus meaning “horned goat”).

Capricorn’s personification as the “sea-goat” (half-fish, half-goat) was inspired by the Sumerian deity Enki, god of water, mischief, and creation – both artistic and sexual, as he rules over craftsmanship but also fertility & virility. From this, the male libido can be represented to some extent in the sign of Capricorn, lending itself to the notion of Capricorn as the “father” archetype, a creator through sex.

Similarly, the Pagan goat-god Pan has always been the ultimate symbol of raw erotic energy, and thus the quintessential figure of caprine sexuality. Pan is infamously out of control, and represents a form of sexual madness; to associate this with Capricorn seems counter-intuitive, because we all know Capricorn to be the stoic, the disciplined, the sane. But no one is born with perfect discipline. Capricorn does possess the carnal chaos of Pan – however, it is punished and forced into silence by the nature of Saturn’s rulership over the sign. Capricorn’s impulses are repressed, hidden, and that’s not discipline: that’s bondage.

In the traditional Rider-Waite illustration, “The Devil” tarot card is portrayed as a winged satyr with authority over two chained slaves. This card is symbolically linked to Capricorn, and represents self-imposed psychological prisons, often of a sexual nature – sexual vices, sexual self-destruction, power dynamics in sex, and sadomasochism can be associated with The Devil, and these battles for control (over self or another) are often a part of Capricorn’s navigation of the sexual realm. Capricorn can be plagued with fears and uncomfortable fetishes that make sex a shameful experience early on in their lives, as their Saturnine energy scolds them inside-out for the ravenous needs they possess.

The devil in general is a caprine figure outside of tarot as well, particularly in religious contexts. The Catholic Church has played an immense role in the demonization of the goat archetype through its desperate conversion of pagans to Judeo-Christianity. To do this, they weaponized fear, successfully associating Pan with ugliness, deformation, & disease and portraying that hideousness as a curse for sexual immorality. This is a cultural allegory for Saturn’s punishment of Capricorn’s sexuality – though Saturn isn’t “evil” and it is not meant to be cruel, it can manifest in cruel ways. In the Bible (Lev. 16), a Jewish chief priest lays the sins of his people upon a goat and sends it out into the wilderness; this is where the term “scapegoat” comes from. As Pan became a scapegoat for the takeover of Christian values, Capricorn makes itself a scapegoat of its own sexual corruption, obsessing over the unhealthy parts of its psychosexual nature in a chaotic attempt at karmic (Saturnine) self-purification.

This is not the fate of Capricorn’s sexuality. Mars, the planet often linked to sex and sexual action, is exalted in Capricorn, suggesting great power and wisdom in this dimension of the archetype. When Capricorn can let go of its ‘scapegoat’ mentality, learn from & heal from the punishments of Saturn, and no longer wield its sexual energy as a weapon of destruction against self or other, it can find immense release in sex and realize the profundity of carnal humanity in a constructive, beautiful way, finally expressing its vitality with grace and ultimately free from its inner prison. Repression is the root of evil, not the cure for it.

Natal and Transit retrograde planets

Mercury: communication, thoughts, thought process, how we process information, style of speaking, intelligence

Mercury rx: During a Mercury rx we experience a lot of difficulty with communication, expressing our thoughts, making a lot of typing mistakes, not being able to finish our assignments with school/work. A lot of misunderstandings occur during this retrograde because of how this planet travels the other way, making it hard to express all of the occuring thoughts in our heads. A lot of delays, postponing. Not being able to sleep a lot, insomnia, the nervous system will be working a lot, lots of nervous energy, especially because we can’t communicate the way we are used to. Frustrations, scattered energy, confusion.

Natal Mercury rx: I think with Natal rx, during a rx we do feel the changed energy but we are used to it, because we are born under one. So here, not much is changed. Lots of nervous energy, insomnia, over-thinking. Not being able to focus much, even though the brain is filled with different ideas. With that nervous energy comes awkwardness. They might have more difficulty expressing their thoughts on paper, but also they get very nervous when they are supposed to speak but it is easier for them. Afraid of public speaking, but they are blessed with a unique sense of humor.

Mars: determination, aggression, passion, desire, fighting spirit, anger, assertion

Mars rx: When Mars is in rx, people really reflect on projects they haven’t finished yet, but the new ones are left behind. They really reflect on their actions, recklessness, learn a lesson or two about what happened during an argument. Bottled up energy and emotions, irritability, frustration. Depending on people’s placements, some of them especially Mars dominants cannot function properly during this, they are rather sleepy. Dealing with a lot of obstacles, restlessness, delays, and just letting the flow go and see what happens.

Natal Mars rx: These individuals might have had/are having problems with aggression and assertion in a way of expressing themselves and standing up for what they believe in, strongly, they prefer avoiding any kind of conflicts and confrontations. But they are blessed with more patience and ability to work calmly on their projects without jumping to new ones. Also these individuals are not very competitve.

Venus: creativity, art, aesthetics, friendships/partnerships, love, romance, fashion

Venus rx: This retrograde really helps us reflect on our real feelings about love relationships, especially if we are in a relationship. The past will visit during this rx, so any repressed emotions, deceptions will come to light. This really tests relationships, not just romantic ones, friendship bonds as well. Lots of partners from the past come back, to test us, tempt us, so we can learn and reflect on our past and grasp any new lessons we missed. Exploring your artistic ways more, if in a positive place indulgence pays a visit too, we might be a bit careful there, in what we indulge. Any projects of creativity, arts, fashion, aesthetics are really successful during this timing. We reflect a lot on any bonds in our lifes and our lifestyles.

Natal Venus rx: These individuals are very comfortable with themselves and always worry about their lifestyle, keep their appearance in check. They mature very nicely, but first they may have suffered insecurities, frustration, they might even have been shy when developing themselves as people and maturing. They are also very picky and careful about their choices in partners and friends, their standards are high. Very respected because of that. They have a unique style, more like classical beauties, timeless, sensual style. Their approach to relationships and romance is always serious, they have very intense emotions and feelings. Saturn rx: When this rx occurs, we are really reflecting on our actions from the past, because we feel the karma. It depends on how we did in the past if we receive good or bad Karma, but Saturn is always there to pass the judgement. We can also reflect on our insecurities, what limits us, our self-critical nature, take something from that and learn. Everyone is being judged rightfully during this retrograde, a lot of changes come. Our over-thinking and negative habits can also stop there or continue, it depends on us. Lots of people quit bad habits during this rx. Some people depending on their placements might have problems with authorities and not have a problem expressing it. But of course since karma plays a part it always gets what it deserves, the authorities that is.

Natal Saturn rx: These are people who are never pleased with their success, so they over-work themselves, they work extra hard. They might have nerves get the better of them when following orders,rules,restrictions. These are people with high standards and well-oriented ones. People who are authorities or follow authorities. These are people who carry the burden of a lot of guilt, of a lot of blaming themselves, over-thinking, insecurities, which they need to work on in life. I think they work on this during a Saturn rx especially.

Jupiter: luck, how we find/create that luck, expansion, philosophy, higher knowledge, freedom, joy, spirituality

Jupiter rx: This is a time where we all mature in the fields we lack. There might be a lot of recklessness because that maturing needs to be done there and then. This is a period of self-reflection, a lot of spirituality, soul searching. We realize a lot of things about belief systems, about finding our own place. Lots of social and political issues are challenged during this period, because people grow and expand which means they open their eyes and slowly awaken during this period. This is also a period of seeking the truth, revelation of a lot of hidden stuff that were in front of our eyes, research.

Natal Jupiter rx: These are individuals who will be put through a lot challenges with bonds, with people, so they can learn, re-search and grow/expand. Individuals who have unique and different, unconventional belief systems and opinions. They are very opinionated and might not accept someone’s teachings, rather they would set their own path, find their own truth. People who always have a different perspective.

Neptune rx: During this retrograde we all see the reality. Reality slaps us, because we’ve been under an illusion for so many things, false hopes and deception. We will learn a lot about what was hiding or trying to get away with something from us.

Natal Neptune rx: These are people who feel a lot fear, and that fear leads to denial and delusion. Uranus rx: During this period, technology goes crazy and hectic, lots of things are revealed online, or we just have problems with making it work. Lots of societal and political issues come to the surface, some are in fear of how fast they are put under the light. A lot of reflection of personalities, what we lack we focus on and what others lack they focus on that. Lots of rebellion for right causes, which people feared before this retrograde, people are following their strong intuition now which leads them to doing things right or just to raise a voice.

Natal Uranus rx: These are individuals who prefer hiding their unique abilities, their unique talents and ways of expression. These people have very unconventional views and perspectives that might weird out some because they are 10 steps ahead. These are people who might be afraid of change and bursting with their eccentricity. Because of this fear and denial, their energy usually bottles up and they might explode and express that through any kind of rebelling. They might dislike the workings of technology and new technology coming our way.

Pluto rx: During this retrograde we really reflect on hidden parts of ourselves, or parts we wanted to hide. We grow from them, accept them, deal with our fears. From this transformation is born which opens the way for renewal, re-birth and new beginnings carrying the understanding of all our previous investigations. We also deal with our pain, with the source of it, we let go of toxic relationships and toxic people, who were holding us down. With that re-birth and new beginnings we gain our personal power back.

Natal Pluto rx: Because they’ve been victims to manipulation and deception through their lives, they become so cautious around people. Even suspicious they become, being very alert, analyzing, following their intuition until they are sure they can trust someone. They associate with less people during their life. Very good at solving problems and putting the pieces together, but still have the fear of revealing their secrets and hidden parts, because they do not want them being used against them. Lilith in Astrology

Lilith, to put it simply, is your subconscious bad bitch. But let’s start with where Lilith comes from. She comes from the Hebrew legend where Lilith was the original wife of Adam where she was made from the dust of the Earth just like him. She demanded equality, specifically sexual equality. When she didn’t receive that she left the Garden of Eden to pursue a life on her own. Becoming a she-demon where she had sex with other demons, causing demon children. Now I am by no means religious, but it is always good to know the story behind the name when it comes to astrology. For often that can help you understand the meaning of whatever placement. 

Through this story you can see that besides being a bit of a bad bitch, she represents feminine independence. She is about catering towards your honest needs. She is where you are rejected by others yet you fulfill that area for yourself. I feel like the house placement tells us where you feel powerless or where our inhibitions lie while the sign placement tells us how you enforce your personal power in compensation for those areas where you have inhibitions or have been rejected. Lilith is often seen as how we approach sexual power due to it’s origin story. And that is true, it is, but it is also much more. Beyond what I have already mentioned, Lilith is also the place in out charts where we feel vengeful, where we are willing to become as evil as the rest of humanity. It shows us where our darkness comes from, and where it is going to take us. 

Retrograde Lilith in a chart can show us where we are given power that we don’t want, or are too scared to use. Which can then lead to people with asteroid Lilith “retrograde can ultimately go critical like the uranium in a nuclear bomb.” Lilith in synastry can show us where another person reflects our own worst traits. Or where they’ll make us feel powerless. Of course, it could also show where we push our sexual desires on another person. Where Lilith is transiting in our chart can show us where we are currently feeling held back and where we are currently trying to compensate by conjuring up our own personal power. Lilith in our draconic chart can show us where we naturally felt inhibited, but through our own force and power we took control and gained strength in that area. Lilith in a man’s chart shows how he approaches powerful women or women who exert themselves over him. Or even how he approaches his own femininity.

Architypes in Astrology II

So I spent some time writing up the second half of this blog, only to have the entire thing disappear when I went to schedule the post. Hopefully I do not miss much of what I had written, and I apologize if I do because there was some insightful stuff there. That being said, on with the lesson…

Every chart holds 12 houses in astrology, and each house outlines an area of progress in the life of the protagonist (the protagonist in the case of examining your own natal chart being you). The bottom half of the chart (houses 1-6) represent the self and the inner world (or soul). The top half of the chart (houses 7-12) represent the outer world or other (or the collective). Now let us peer into the journey of the natal chart by examining the architypes of the houses.

The Houses

FIRST HOUSE The first house represents self-actualization. In the journey of life, it is here we begin to develop and discover our personalities through action. The sign governing this house is known as the rising sign, and it is the veil through which we express our planets. It is the physical body; one’s approach to life; discovering one’s individual way; and the natural persona that is seen by others.

SECOND HOUSE The second house is where we begin to determine what is valued through tangible things, and the truth of how these effect our sense of self-value. It is resources; values; material security; possessions; the experience of nature and connection to the earth; sensual enjoyment of material things; productivity and expenditure; self-confidence or lack of; and proving one’s self (or proving one’s value).

THIRD HOUSE The third house represents the stage where through our questionings, we are able to gain understanding of the relationships between things, as well as our relationship to these things. It is the rational mind; the exchange of information; all forms of language and communication; learning; shock; the unexpected; improvisation; and reaction.

FOURTH HOUSE The fourth house is where we find our sense of emotional security that comes from our deep inner-self. It is our inner world; the home; one’s personal roots; family and emotional security; the private; the need for domestic tranquility; the experience of community; radical commitment; and traditionally represents the mother.

FIFTH HOUSE The fifth house is our need to creatively express who we are (our ego) to the world. It is all forms of creativity and self-expression; the projection of self onto the stage of life; the sense of identity; energy expenditure and vitality; the need for pleasure; play; love affairs; courtship; traditionaly represents children; and performance. SIXTH HOUSE The sixth house is where we begin to analyse the self in order to heal existing wounds. It is through healing we learn self love, and are able to express the ultimate versions of ourselves. To be our best for others, we must first become the best ourselves. Before we can love others, we must learn to love ourselves. This is the last house transitioning from the self to the other, from the inner to the outer. It is the developement of efficiency and proficiency through engaging the practical; material challenges posed by the world; the refinement of self-expression; duties and skills; mentoring and being mentored; the urge to be competent; helpfulness; everyday work; habbits and hobbies; and self-sufficiency.

SEVENTH HOUSE The seventh house is our first experience with the other and the outer world. It is our first taste of seeing ourselves reflected by another. It is all forms of close relationships; coming to awareness through others; intamicy; commitment; relationships based on equality; negotiation; and compromise.

EIGHTH HOUSE The eighth house is where we experience deep union with others. If thinking in terms of romance, it is the phase of the relationship in which the honeymoon is over and the deep, dark truths of the other, and in extension the self, are revealed. It is through these revelations that we experience the beauty of transformation. It is all forms of union: emotional, sexual, financial; the challenge of merging with another in relationship; transformation; issues of power and control; the expereince of ego-death and dying; social taboos; the occult; the repressed and perinatal unconscious; regenration of the self through experiencing the values of the other; others’ resources, money and possessions; instincts; wounds; everything psychologically charged; sexual bonding; and in the words of Steven Forrest, “the house that makes you make animal noises.” That is to say, noises that are universally understood, such as sighs, screams and moans. *wink*

NINTH HOUSE In the ninth house we journey in the search for answers to our new truths, and in doing so generate philosophies about ourselves, others and the world. If we remain open in our quest, great wisdom is revealed. It is the relationship of the self to the wider world; meaning and world view; gaining a broader perspective on one’s life through travel, study, and living abroad; the exposure to different cultural perspectives; the search for one’s own truth-philosophy; higher education and learning; values; and life as a quest.

TENTH HOUSE The tenth house is the outer world (or collective) and the paradigm that governs it. It is our first experience of integrating ourselves within the paradigm, finding our place in the collective, and leaving our mark. It is worldy acheivement; personal and professional ambition; one’s public role and public life; the social persona; one’s contribution to the collective through a particular vocation or calling; reputation; and traditionally represents the father.

ELEVENTH HOUSE The eleventh house is where we wish to liberate from constraints. This is the stage, that through the connection of mind and heart, we come to understand that unique part of ourselves that is an aspect of creation, and what its purpose is within the collective. It is the working toward this realization with a sense of non-attachment as to how we may be perceived, that new social structures, groups and paradigms are built. It is one’s individual purpose within the larger collective or social group; participation in movements; associations and groups with common aims; the social circle and groups of friends; goals; strategies; development over time; allies; tribal experience; teamwork; and networking.

TWELFTH HOUSE The twelfth house is the final stage of our journey before we begin again. If the eleventh house is liberation, the twelfth is transendence. It is where we take all of our knowledge and healing, and we finally see the larger picture that was once clouded. It is the point we see through illusion, we see ultimate truths, and through non-attachment we are able to experience unconditional love of not only the self, but the other/collective as well. It is transcendece or dissolution of the ego; mysticism and personal sacrifice; acting as a conduit or vessel of the transpersonal or the collective unconscious; myth; dreams; fantasy; arts and imagination; isolation; withdrawal; the growth of awareness through solitude or privation; spiritual life and behind the sences activities; the hidden; institutions in which the ego is rendered powerless; the end of a cycle and beginning of a new one; returning to the cosmic womb; the dimension of life “beyond” our world; release; psychic experience; and necessary losses.

Now you are equipped with some of the architypes surrounding the houses. If you cross-reference these with my previous post speaking to the architypes of the signs, you will be able to have a greater understanding of how the houses influence your planets, and how the signs influence the houses. You will also notice patterns or similarities between the signs and houses they govern.

To give an idea on how to interpret someone’s planets, let us use the sun in Virgo in the ninth house. Someone with this placement could be seen as a person who garners joy from learning (ninth house) about the self (the sun). If we go one step further, through analysis of the self (sun in Virgo), this person is able to find answers which contribute to their philosophies of themselves and how they relate to the world (ninth house). If we wish to go even further by incorporating partnering signs/houses, this person will come by these answers by first questioning (third house) illusions (Pisces) they hold about themselves. Upon seeing the reality (Virgo) of these illusions, and analysing the wounds caused by them in order to heal them, they are able to create new philosohpies for and of the self, and gain a greater wisdom of themselves and their relation to the collective. If we wished to go even further, we can begin to look at how Sagittarius and Gemini square Virgo and Pisces, which create challenges and can show wounds that need to be addressed in the chart. We can also address the need to communicate these philosophies, and the need to help others on their life’s journey through their learnings. We can also look at how aspects to the sun influence the expression of that planet, and so on and so forth. I will leave it as is for now, as I would like to move on the partnering signs in my next entry, but you can see how complex and in depth astrology can really get. Far more deep than you cry a lot because you are a Cancer, or you will marry rich because your venus is in your tenth house (I wish though).

Mercury in Aquarius - The Mad Messenger 

“I remained too much inside my head and ended up losing my mind.”

Mercury in Aquarius people talk into a new frequency. Radical intuition and brilliant intelligence activate the thought provoking genius. The intellect is unusually creative and uses an original cosmic calculator to arrange information. She can be a natural at spiritual studies that involve mind and intellect like mythology, astrology, and numerology. People tend to respond to the individual with surprise, engagement, and deep interest. She knows how to deliver information in striking and sassy ways and voyages deep inside information to execute the truth. The unique Mercury in Aquarius perspective is slanted and insightful. This world is chaotic, and the mind reflects like a frantic amusement park. 

The mind can gain expertise across a broad range of subjects with Mercury in Aquarius. Curiosity and mental inspiration switches on and off like a flashing light, she can stay awake all night clicking through pages of information and then be overcome with boredom. Developing the mind is typically of importance to the individual because she likes to prove her intellectual superiority. Mercury in Aquarius people present fresh perspectives, inventive ideas, and humanitarian consciousness. It’s possible for the individual to convey information to large groups of people, and she may do this primarily through the internet. Aquarius is the sign of the water bearer. The water that Aquarius bears represents knowledge, intuition, and wisdom for nourishing the spirit of humanity. Aquarius is already a messenger, and this is why she resides well in Mercury, she is given new wings to deliver her watery words, and she can do this at the speed of light. The rebel is wild in the mind here, and it creates its own chaos by responding constantly with protest. Aquarius - Sea Fairy 

The word Aquarius translates into ‘aqua’ meaning ‘water’ and ‘arius’ meaning ‘air’. Aquarius is an air sign, although frequently mistaken for water by it’s elusive name, psychic sensitivity, and powerful esoteric correlations. Uranus is the ruler of Aquarius, and he is surrounded by two water planets - Neptune and Pluto, so Aquarians are surrounded by large bodies of water. The sea goat’s conquers land and sea, so the Aquarius has inherited a mermaid tail from the sea goat and she is preparing to enter the mystical ocean of Pisces. Aquarius bears water, but this water does not release from emotion and feeling, it is a direct conduit from the heavens, expressed into humanity through the glistening Aquarius mind. Aquarius is a fixed sign, so she catches thoughts with a starry Uranus net and makes them stationary so wisdom can be finely extracted. Aquarius is the sign of Blue Light Christ Consciousness, they are residents of the mental plane, the realisation of the inner light and kingdom, the awareness of truth and oneness with all beings. The jagged waves of their symbol represent light, not water, and electrical impulses that pass through one another other like telepathy. Aquarius contains this knowing in her jug of water, but she maintains physical form. Like a mermaid, she dwells in mysterious waters, but in true to her airy nature, her head remains in the clouds. Aquarians are figures of the new cosmic age, teachers assigned with the responsibility of assisting humanity in its transit between cosmic time. The spiritual energy dispersed from her jug facilitates the global community in which she idealises.

Possible deer miraculous powers

Cause I’m bored and on a writing pause and this seems fun to explore. 

Thus far, miraculous powers seem to resolve around animal symbolism, ladybugs are symbols of good fortune and love; black cats symbols of luck, usually bad but in they have also been symbols of good luck; cats in general also symbolize protection, watchfulness, and guardianship, echoing Chat being LB’s protector, usually taking the heat of the battle so she can plan, and always being the one to help her out when she gets trapped (at least I can’t recall her ever breaking out of a trap herself).

Butterflies represent change and transformation, echoing how the butterfly should help people grow and change, only now they’re transforming into their worst. Foxes symbolize guidance and tricks and most likely their power is illusions, which could work with both. 

So most likely, animal symbolism will be incorporated into powers in some shape or form.

Considering this, I speculate the deer miraculous powers likely resolve around spirituality (Cernunnos and deer symbolism dealing with spirits/death); self regeneration or could be a healer, and by looks of the image, came with great physical strength and most likely grace. And a power related to nature is another strong potential.

Aquarius - Bleeding Rainbows

The world was loud and cold when she took her first breath, the lingering  shadow of life as a Capricorn haunting as she shook right to her bones. Tip toeing between clouds she tried to balance the crown on her head  all she had ever known was trying to survive  and now she was a mother, a lover, a guardian to every child. When she laughs rainbows from the sky appeared, she is the angel of righteousness, truth, and humanitarianism. But the responsibility is heavy, and the crown  becomes straining, alone she dwells, waiting for something to change, for  people to change and find their hearts, and soul, and spiritual mind  so she can descend and be free, so she can live on her vibrational harmony.  As a Capricorn she had already walked the temple with Saturn, and now  she had been summoned for another round, and her heart was already  tired, and the voices were still so loud. She had achieved so much and yet  how could she feel so empty and alone? She felt betrayed by their hatred and love of war and destruction. But there was soul and she could feel it, so  her mind sang with electric impulses of spiritual nectar  a milkshake of elevation for every being. You can sometimes catch her jumping from cloud to cloud, leaving a trail of teal flickering lanterns behind

To those asking about how Lilith is manifested in your chart… Ask yourself: Where do you feel uncomfortable? Uncomfortable in the sense where your sense of comfort is seen to be inappropriate? Uncomfortable to where you have to find other “appropriate” ways to make yourself comfortable in your own skin because you’ve been rejected or looked down upon?

When you find yourself expressing what truly makes you feel comfortable, you feel free and liberated. It feels so wrong, yet so right. You truly feel comfortable in your own skin, and you accept your skin the way it is - regardless of what people think or say.
