etiquette starter for @lucielxbe
luciel is good looking, and from the few moments that siwoo's path has crossed his, he looks ... fairly put together ( he looks good ), and like a decent guy. he doesn't know much about aside from the fact that he too is a silver spoon, and while that might be reason for the both of them to get along, it surprisingly isn't. if anything it's the reason siwoo doesn't want to get along with him.
they're too similar, yet different in ways that siwoo can't quite put his finger on ( no. it's quite simple really, luciel looks like a nice guy and siwoo is annoyed by that ). something about someone else that grew up surrounded by wealth not being an outright asshole rubs siwoo the wrong way. and it really is just his luck to be teamed up with luciel for this wrong. elegant and sexy. sure, siwoo is elegant and sexy. but luciel...? luciel? he takes a look at the boy in front of him. well yeah. he can't deny that either. fuck, he really dislikes him.
still, he has to do his part and they've decided on practicing with ties on. his eyes hover to luciel and without much thought, he grabs a tie and walks over to the older boy. he places the tie around luciel's neck and begins to tie it, slowly. "what do you think of the concept, hyung?" he asks, feigning friendliness. he wonders if it shows – siwoo's never been good at this. if the cameras hadn't been around he would've probably cussed by now. but he'd been called out before for his curt choice of words. damn jihun, he thinks.
"do you know how to be elegant?" he continues tugging at the tie, annoyance seeping through him for no reason.

"i don't blame them," siwoo laughed, "we make a pretty good team." it felt comfortable, speaking to hyunki in english. his accent peeking through though after having spent most of his childhood growing up in london.
siwoo smiled at the sight of the outfit. in all honesty, he undeniably felt more comfortable in the creative aspect of the outfits than actually performing. unlike dancing or rapping or singing, siwoo actually knows a thing or two about fashion and is probably much less likely to look like a fool.
once again, siwoo burst into laughter — something he's not often seen doing on next gen, usually too caught up with either practicing or listlessly staring off. "i'm glad," he comments. "it really does suit you," he can't help but pat himself on the head. "now all we have to do is capture the judges hearts as well, and i think we've got this!"
the three men he'd been paired with for the "pink venom" performance the prior episode were ones hyunki hadn't met or interacted much with up until that point. however, he found it easy to get along with all of them, especially siwoo. now here they were again indeed. "they couldn't get enough of us together," hyunki joked in return, a rare moment where he got to fall back into his native language, english, with another native speaker. it was nice.
siwoo was lovely to have for the creative aspect of the clothing part of this performance. hyunki had worked hard with touma on the choreography, but clothing was siwoo's strong point. it was important that the calling cards of the criminals was noticeable, to make the storyline flow well with seira's reveal.
hyunki looked amused with the mention of designer brand he vaguely recognized. "i will act like i know anything about that locket," he added, letting siwoo pin the brooch on his chest. not too big, but definitely not too small either. he admired it when he saw it in the mirror, giggling in response to the other's statement. "that is my specialty," hyunki playfully winked at siwoo through the mirror. "but i think it's lovely! a perfect size and goes with everything nicely."

the beat starter for @benayoung
typically someone like siwoo wouldn't get along with nayoung. he doesn't know much about her, but siwoo can only guess that she's opinionated and doesn't quite take things sitting down. which honestly, isn't bad, but it's a clash of personalities. still, for some reason, siwoo doesn't quite dislike her – if anything, he thinks her ability to cut to the chase is helpful, especially for someone like siwoo, who doesn't quite enjoy the 'fluff' and would much prefer for things to be cut to the chase.
she's helping him out again this round, and at the very least he hopes he's shown some improvement. if not his aching legs and thighs would have been for nothing. maybe he'll sue mnet for physical damages ( just kidding ).
"for this song," he says, turning to nayoung for advice, "i noticed that the choreography we've planned as a team is a little complicated," he pulls out a notebook, scribbled with notes and pointers of where he should be standing to dance. it's a little embarrassing, but siwoo doesn't think he can pull this off without some sort of visual aid and so, he'd noted it down on his own.
"i... still have some trouble with moving on count. i'm worried i might miss a beat, and screw up the whole timing of the performance," he confesses, having thought through the performance in his mind.

king of hearts starter for @behyunki
"it's us again," siwoo says, smiling at hyunki. their last performance together had ... less than lackluster feedback from the judges if he's being honest. and while siwoo was one to usually have snide remarks ready at the back of his mind, he didn't quite blame them this time. still, he at the very least knows he's able to work well with hyunki – their previous chemistry with pink venom had helped prove so.
siwoo sifts through the accessories, thinking of what might fit best. "something hearts related for your calling card," he hums under his breath. this, siwoo thinks, is something i can get used to. it's no secret that siwoo quite enjoys fashion ( from the way he'd dress himself, always careful to try and look his best ). "a heart bracelet or brooch would look nice," he says, "since we don't have the budget to go with my personal favourite, the alexander mcqueen locket, we'll need to get a little creative," he jokes. he tugs at the collar of hyunki's outfit and smiles, placing the brooch subtly against his chest.
"what do you think?" he asks, guiding hyunki to the mirror. "you look really good. if i was an audience member, you would've stolen my heart," he continues, patting his friend on the back.

"you're making me shy," siwoo says, but in truth, he enjoys the compliments. this concept, he thinks, might actually be of great help to him. at the very least he doesn't have to perform something like nonstop or adrenaline. those two songs felt far from his usual persona. so he'll give the production crew their tens for this, he thinks they did a good job slotting him into the elegant and sexy persona.
he tries it more confidently this time though, just as touma had instructed. "alright," he says, and as he repeats his lines, he stands in front of the mirror and throws a wink – that surprises even himself. he pauses. "wow," that's all that he manages to say. but he can't deny the fact that he ... maybe pulled it off well. or well, decently enough. he doesn't know what the judges might think. all he can really do, is try to practice even harder.
"did that work? you're the detective aren't you? did you think i stole the viewers hearts?" uncharacteristically, and perhaps in a spur of playfulness, siwoo goes up to a camera and does the same, he repeats his line in the song and winks. "i can't believe i did that. i'm getting too absorbed in the thief concept," he shudders. "you should try it too. be elegant and sexy."
if there was someone else who had the fortune of being born into a concept of elegance and sensuality, that would be siwoo. it seems the judges and mnet themselves have realized that, maybe that’s why they gave siwoo the concept, knowing he can pull it off. besides, siwoo also has a face card that won’t decline. honestly, siwoo can probably ace this performance.
while touma knows he can learn a thing or two from siwoo, he isn’t quite sure siwoo can… teach touma to match his vibes. someone who’s born into something can’t exactly teach it—but he’s here anyways, touma thinks he can observe something that he can use for later just by being around siwoo. and, well, he kinda got used to dealing with the ‘rich kids’.
touma laughs, though, when siwoo speaks up. “honestly? yeah, you do. and you clearly have the face to back it up.” touma’s not a liar. “but you need to be confident about it, like it’s a given that you are stealing hearts. it’s an innate trait of yours.” he wonders if that makes sense.
“you should try again, but this time, kick that embarrassment to the curb!”

he's no natural when it comes to dancing. or at least, that's what siwoo firmly believes in. he's never actually formally been to dance classes ( except for the few that haein has dragged him to ), and has never actually learned how to rap – it just wasn't something that he thought would ever be inherently important to him. yet here he was, now tasked with the duty to rap and dance, and well, perform.
at the very least though, the concept this time isn't completely horrible. if anything, it's something that siwoo thinks might actually be doable for someone like him. the dance is still something that he's a little iffy with, and he thinks it shows as his limbs move around awkwardly. "really?" he says, and he repeats the move once more, this time speeding up his arms. "ah... like that," he nods his head, and takes a look at himself in the mirror. not bad, he thinks. "thanks seira," he smiles, thankful that she's gone out of her way to help him.
"for facial expressions, i just... think that i'm the best. even though i'm clearly not," he laughs – the judges remarks can back him up on that. "i think about how no one else can pull off looking like me... but me. something like that," he says, trying his best to give her some pointers, despite the fact that he'd never really been much of a teacher himself.
my face
dropping so much in ranks had scared seira a bit. she’d made it to top five, just to drop to the very bottom, she was lucky she hadn’t been eliminated. it feared her a bit, felt like since her rank was so low, she was closer to elimination. she didn’t want to be eliminated, this show had suddenly become so important to her, this was a second chance, if she didn’t make it, then what? did she need to give up the idol dream forever? she refused that, she would prove she deserved to be here. she came in early, stayed late, continued her practicing at home even.
seira has never had much confidence when it comes to dance, but she’s figured, if she wants to stay in the show, then she has to begin having confidence in the things she does. she decides to help a fellow member on her team with the dance, it’ll hopefully grow her confidence in dance, and maybe it’ll give her some leader skills. “hmmm, for that part, it looks like you’re not moving your arms fast enough? you’re having great facial expressions though, and you fit the vibe well, i might have you help me with facial expressions” she shows the other a smile.
sending it to... @besiwoo

criminal ( starter for @betouma )
"elegant and sexy..." he looks at himself in the mirror, and instinctively he fixes himself before taking off his watch ( he's decided not to wear something too expensive anymore. it's a simple fossil watch, sturdy but classic ) and placing it in his bag. after weeks of dancing, he's come to realize that it's easier to dance without the weight of a watch in his hand just yet.
the judges seem really dead set on this rich boy persona of his — or well, it isn't really the judges. if anything he thinks mnet is too. there's definitely some truth to it though. siwoo's grown up surrounded by wealth and it isn't something he's unfamiliar with. surrounded by people that took importance in the idea of elegance. maybe he really might be of some use this round. who knows.
"what do you think, touma?" he asks, looking at his newfound friend. "do i look like someone who committed the crime of stealing hearts?" even saying that out loud is embarrassing, so siwoo has to cover his face, just slightly.

"i've never danced or rapped in my life," siwoo admits. "except for the few times my friends would drag me to classes but... even then, i'm probably not naturally gifted," he says. which is the truth, siwoo's never thought of himself as naturally gifted at performing. though if face was a talent, siwoo thinks he might not do too badly in that department. clearly it isn't though, and siwoo's already resigned to that fact.
"you're a really good rapper though hyunki," he points out. "i mean... i don't know much about rapping. but you're good," siwoo's always been a little blunt with his words, but his compliments are genuine as he smiles to the boy.
still, the fact that both siwoo and hyunki weren't exactly passionate about rapping and given such a ... rap heavy song, was honestly a little funny. siwoo laughs, and then turns to his teammate. "ah sorry, i was just thinking about how both of us are talking about rapping like it's something new to us. and then given such a rap heavy song," he says. it's comedic, almost. "i'm sure we'll do well. from what i gather we have to have good... chemistry? to pull off the rapping. i think we're already halfway there," he says, playfully nudging hyunki's shoulder.
ever since he was young and had decided he wanted to dance for the rest of his life. hyunki had never really considered extra skills outside of dancing he might want to consider developing. being an idol wasn't something he ever thought he could do, but now here he was competing on next gen. part of this was needing some vocal talent. it was a shock when he discovered there was at least some talent for rapping. he wouldn't call himself a true rapper by any means, ever, but it wasn't horrendous or untrainable so far.
"i'm not much of a singer either," hyunki admitted to siwoo, nodding in understanding. "i only just started learning to rap but i enjoy it." there was no use in hiding the truth. while the judges were kinder to him last week, he doubted they didn't notice his newly developing skill.
it was worrying hearing siwoo mention he'd only heard "pink venom" for the first time that day. hyunki nodded, considering how everyone had to start somewhere. "well...you'll hear it many more times as we all practice, so you'll learn it all in no time i'm sure!" hopefully, at least. he knew this was an individual competition but they were a team this week, and hyunki wanted them all to look good.

NEXT GEN EP 3 ! siwoo performs pink venom ( line dist. )
he's got a less than stellar review from the previous episode. and truth be told siwoo is about two steps away from quitting. but he decides not – because the idea of knowing that his father is right kills him, and well... he likes his teammates.
siwoo's never been much of a team player. really, honestly. he isn't. it's his crass attitude and sharp tongue that's always made it a little harder for him to get along well with others ( though his face has helped him get away with quite a bit ). still, working with the other three is great. hyunki's a team player, jordan's sweet and he dohyun is technically his roommate.
if anything, he stays and works hard for them.
they tell him that he isn't a good dancer, which well – siwoo can agree with. he's not a good ... anything, really. talent doesn't come naturally to him, because it's never been anything that he's actively tried to seek out. it does piss him off though. it's humiliating, almost. and then to get lectured by a judge? fuck that guy.
he works on his dancing though, only because it's so pointedly bad. he doesn't want to stand out terribly on stage, doesn't wanna be the guy that brings his team down because he basically sucks. he focuses hard on it, spends days and nights in front of the practice room trying to get the movement right.
"this is tough," he says to himself. his body feels stiff, and despite the stretches, it doesn't feel like he's good enough. will he ever be good enough. he runs a hand through his hair and goes over the steps again. "pink venom... taste that pink venom..." he repeats, flicking his wrist in beat.
he doesn't want to fuck up, honestly. not just for his sake, but for the sake of the team.
he spends a good few hours a day working on his facial expression as well. he stares at pink venom performance videos to the point that his eyes go red, as though he might physically be sucked into the screen. he mimics the idol's facial expression, tries to show as much ease as she does.
he's good looking. yeah, siwoo knows he's hot. the judges and him at the very least agree on that. but that's just... it. what's the point of a good face if he can't use it right? he sighs and tries again.
PERFORMANCE DAY
the day of the performance comes. siwoo is nervous. of course he is. he doesn't want to fuck up or ruin this for anyone. a part of him ( a bigger part of him than he'd like to admit ) wants to do well, wants to enjoy the stage.
"you're on."
they get on stage and introduce themselves and siwoo gets into position. he takes in a deep breath, remembering the hours he's spent practicing. his face, the ease that he'd like to show. and the big fuck you to his dad.
plus, the concept they've come up with is pretty nice as well. jewelry adorned with poisonous flowers. siwoo's pick – the deadly nightshade.
alright, he thinks. let's do this.
it helps that the lyrics to pink venom are pretty cool as well. siwoo's never heard the song in full, but he enjoys it now. it's refreshing, a lot more so than bubblegum pop or "i can do it!" songs that he can't seem to relate to. something about being venomous, about killing someone, about looking good appeals to him.
the song starts with him, and siwoo smiles with ease. he's hot. he knows that, and he'll use that to his advantage. he'll show them that he can have fun on stage too. he's venomous.
"kick in the door, waving the coco," he begins, raising a brow and winking. "just get your popcorn, don't even think about getting involved," he enjoys the lyrics, thinks it's fun to say shit like this. because it's relatable. he gets it. the audience really are just taking their popcorn and enjoying the show that they've made him.
he dances as he's rehearsed, honestly feeling a little more... confident and good looking than usual ( he feels a little narcissistic for thinking so... but that was the vibe... right? either way, he let's himself fall into it ).
his next verse is fully in english. which thankfully, he's fluent in. siwoo grew up in london anyway, so his words come out a little accented.
"diamonds shining, drive in silence, i don't mind it, i'm riding. flying private side by side with the pilot up in the sky," which he thinks is a fitting line for him. if they're going to throw the rich kid image at him, then he might as well eat it up. it's not like siwoo's never rode private before either, so he does have an idea of what it's like. and it's not like he's running out of diamonds anytime soon. clearly, with the way he's brought his own expensive luxury accessories to wear for the performance. he lifts a necklace at the line, and raises his brows, as if to say yea... diamonds. but he's having fun, and he allows himself to.
"and i'm wyling, styling on them and there's no chance. 'cause we got bodies on bodies like this a slow dance," he leans over to hyunki and smiles.
he continues performing and soon enough the song comes to an end. he goes into his position and takes a deep breath. this might be his last performance, but he tried. and well... he liked it.

next level
starter for @bedohyun
"you left early today," siwoo walks into the practice room, sling bag on one shoulder, and a lunch bag in his hand. "i thought i told you to eat breakfast before leaving for training, or you'll get tired easy, he passes the lunch bag to dohyun, completely forgetting the cameras surrounding them.
it's easy though, to forget that he's being filmed almost 24/7 while he's in here. even more so when he's around dohyun — a longtime friend and now a... coach? of next gen. but siwoo can't exactly switch from "friends" to "coach" with dohyun just like that. especially when he'd been friends with dohyun before the whole next gen shenanigans.
he's also sort of grown accustomed to preparing breakfast for dohyun before his friend would go for training. something that he would do because siwoo was by nature, someone who was early to wake up. it was easier that way anyway, making breakfast for two. "ah, we can order something in for dinner tonig..." his voice trails off when he spots the camera, and he blinks. oh, right. oh shit.
uncharacteristically, his cheeks go red. siwoo's been known to be an asshole of sorts, sharp tongued and covered in luxury items. this was not... how he typically came across. "it's recording," he says, pointing at the camera.

siwoo isn't talented. that much he knows. he isn't a born singer or dancer, and he's gotten around through life with well... his face. admittedly, that's helped him a lot. still, if he had to pick between singing ( aka hitting a note ) and rapping ( aka speed talking ) he'd much prefer rapping.
the group he's assigned isn't terrible – if anything he's glad that he's got such dependable teammates. if he had it his way, he would've long dropped out of this show. tired and annoyed by the judges. but he doesn't want to, not when he knows he's got a team to work hard for, and not when he likes everyone on it. he'll work hard – but for them.
"rapping is fine with me," he says, smiling at hyunki. "i... don't really think i'm a good singer. i'd just bring the team down," he admits. strategically thinking, siwoo singing would probably be detrimental to the team.
"ah... i don't really have much experience rapping too though," he says. "well... i don't have much experience... in anything performance related like this... actually..." he pauses for a moment. he wonders how the production team will edit this? but he knows he has to be honest. "i've never heard the whole song until today. i've only heard the chorus on social media... so i'm a little worried..." he sighs, and rubs the back of his neck with his hand. "i'm sorry..."
@besiwoo' and hyunki attempt to take the rap world by storm
after the performance of do better, hyunki was shocked to learn there was some potential to his rapping abilities. it'd been the last thing he expected from himself, but it was fun to explore the budding skillset he was learning about while being assigned half of the rap portions of the song, alongside siwoo.
"how do you feel about rapping?" hyunki inquired as the duo had the lyric sheets in hand, working on their parts and learning the words. admittedly he knew them already just because he liked the original song. he felt good about the parts.
"do you wish you had another part?"
if he had to pick himself, hyunki would have chosen a rap part over singing. he didn't find it as challenging. either way, he knew the judges mentioned finding better balance between dancing and making sure his vocals didn't suffer because he was focused on something else too much.

siwoo has no idea why jihun's texted him. but he isn't exactly one to say no to a quick hangout, and siwoo quite likes being in jihun's company. it'll be fun, he thinks, hanging with jihun after having not seen him for a while. after all, siwoo's been keeping himself busy by signing up for a show he didn't quite care for.
he puts on his shirt and a pair of jeans, before he makes his way to their usual spot. he makes a quick stop to a coffee shop nearby to grab both him and jihun something to drink, for some reason feeling as though he may need the caffeine.
"hey," he says, smiling when he spots jihun not too far from him. he lifts the coffee in hand and gestures for jihun to take it. "i got you something to drink," siwoo isn't a particularly nice guy – mostly ruled by spite and his own reckless behaviour, but jihun is a friend, and siwoo treats most friends with care.
"i was pretty surprised when you texted me," he says, taking a seat next to the older boy. "did you miss me too much or what?" he teases, unable to read the tension in the air.
jihun's surprised he made it through his shift at work with all the thoughts running inside his head. not to mention the emotions he's trying his best to suppress, but failing at. it's tough enough that fate, destiny, whatever higher power there is out there caused him to miss the chance to join the survival show, but now he finds out his little sister is participating? no, he can't even lie and say she's the one on his mind right now. instead, he's been trying and trying to find the right words to say to @besiwoo.
he had texted his friend to meet him at their usual spot a couple hours ago, and as the hour of reckoning approached, the more and more jihun finds himself realizing his emotions just might lose him a friend tonight. but just how is he supposed to stay calm? siwoo's never had an interest in being an idol (if anyone would know, it would be jihun), and there's no way he was just going with the flow. you can't just 'go with the flow' into a tv show, can you?
as he watches siwoo approach his seat, he straightens his back and swallows his nerves down the best he can. you can't open a conversation with an accusation, that's bad manners.
"hey," he smiles at siwoo, giving him a quick hand up as a greeting. "thanks for coming."

siwoo performs: do better
if life is a performance, then siwoo thinks he’s been doing a pretty good job at it. practiced smiles, straight back, and wealth. but this isn’t the sort of performance he’s used to. he feels like a puppet, a marionette being pulled by the strings as he stands in front of the judges. judges. he hates that word – it’s too close to home, yet all at the same time it isn’t.
he doesn’t hate the lights, but something about them shining on him is unsettling. great, he feels like a court jester being put up for show like this. maybe performing isn’t for him – except it’s a little too late for that now. he’s dug his grave and he’ll have to live in it ( or die. whichever sounds more appealing ). he has to put on a show though, and terrible and out of place as he might feel, he’s a competitive guy and it fucking sucks to lose, even if it’s something that you don’t have much care for.
siwoo stands in front of the judges, poised and ready. they’d said he was handsome before ( he remembers ), so he’ll lean into that, tilt his head in a way that looks natural as he attempts to loosen the muscles around his neck. ah, manners. he bows and smiles. if he’s nervous, he tries not to show it too much.
the music starts, and siwoo’s body moves according to his memory. if this is the center selection, then siwoo wants to show his worth. he may not be the best dancer out there, nor the best singer, but he should at the very least try not to fuck up… right?
dancing, surprisingly, hadn’t been too much of a hassle for siwoo to learn – and he thanks the dance classes that haein had dragged him to previously. from being someone that could barely keep up with simple steps, siwoo could at the very least move his feet and hands to a rhythm without feeling awkward.
the song thankfully isn’t terribly difficult vocal wise either. siwoo isn’t the best singer out there. surprisingly more comfortable with rapping. after all, rapping had always felt like debating and spitting out words, which was something he was more than familiar with growing up with his family.
he hates this fucking song by the way. not because it’s particularly bad, but because he’s had it on replay for about a million times now. where he thinks he can’t perform well talent wise, he tries to make up for with his expressions. handsome? again, he decides to use that for his advantage – something that siwoo had surprisingly never done much of before.
the song falls into a rap, and he comfortably raps, letting himself fall into the rhythm. he throws in a wink where he deems fit, before going back into the dance routine.
“do do do, do do do better.”
the song comes to an end, and siwoo goes into his ending pose, breathing hard. but he doesn’t forget to throw in a smile, and raise his eyebrows for an added effect.
he hopes he hasn’t fucked it up terribly.
