Malaysia is the 66th largest country by total land area of 329,613 kilometers. It has land borders with Thailand in West Malaysia, and Indonesia and Brunei in East Malaysia. Local climates can be divided into three regions, highland, lowland, and coastal. Climate change is likely to affect sea levels and rainfall, increasing flood risks, and leading to droughts. The Kampar Tin Mining Heritage Trail offers a local insight into the historical and the cultural landscape of Kampar. Founded in 1887, Kampar is situated in Kinta Valley, known for its role as a tin mining town. The local Chinese community believes that the name Kampar was derived from the word "kam pou", meaning "precious gold", which referred to the town's large tin reserves in the past. The tin mining industry in Malaysia is one of its major exports and has been classified as its oldest industrial heritage. According to the Malaysian Department of Statistics, the mining sector continues to be significant, supplying basic raw materials to the construction and manufacturing sectors enabling Malaysia's economic growth. Until the late 1970s, Malaysia was the world's premier producer of tin, supplying some 40 percent of the world. Malaysia's biggest mining area is situated in Perak, comprising Taiping of Larut district, Kinta Valley district. Ipoh, Gopeng, Kampar, Batu Gajah, Tronoh belongs to this district. However, due to a global recession from 1929 to 1932, a severe decline occurred in this industry. This decline affected the price of tin that fell sharply due to a lack of demand from European markets and caused the closure of many tin mines. With the current rapid development and modernization of Perak state, the insistence on human needs has caused changes to its moribund tin mining landscapes. Abandoned mine areas have been reclaimed and converted into more profitable land uses such as residential areas, commercial activities, institutional areas, agriculture, and also for recreation purposes with little respect for its heritage merits. One of the abandoned mine sites in Batu Gajah, Perak which has been converted as bird sanctuary after receiving migration birds throughout September-March each year. Nevertheless, the scenic view and landscape of ex-tin mining areas have captured the attention of investors to develop the land for resorts, recreational, and golf course areas. Projects in Kinta such as the Clearwater Sanctuary Golf Resort, Lost World of Tambun, Gunung Lang Recreational Park and Taiping Lake Garden in Larut are all existed from the former tin mining land. These projects were described as a rehabilitation program to accommodate treatment from land destruction by previous mining activities. Other than commercial and residential projects that have been built on these ‘industrial heritage lands’, there have also been projects initiated by the local people who have sought to take advantage of the breeding ducks and freshwater fish industry in the vicinity of the former tin mining lands around Batu Gajah and Tanjung Tualang. Conversion into agricultural land can also be seen in Bidor, Perak, where the locals have been planting mangos and turnips for commercial purposes. Many of the national heritage lists can be found in Perak and the latest was in 2012, where Lenggong, Perak has been recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage Lists. One of the well-known museums is The Kinta Tin Mining (Gravel Pump) Museum. It's currently Malaysia's foremost and dedicated museum featuring the rich tin legacy in this country. Located in Bandar Baru Kampar, next to the Petronas Station and within the vicinity of the Grand Kampar Hotel, The Kinta Tin Mining Museum was a brainchild of a tin tycoon who was keen to showcase the gravel pump mining method which was widely applied in the Kinta Valley during its heydays. Many of the exhibits and information in the two galleries are appropriately spaced and provide a conducive environment to know the subjects intimately. The mannequins both indoor and outdoor are also perfect to illustrate the life of tin miners working in the dangerous mines. Young visitors to the tin museum are likely to be fascinated more by the life-size dioramas featuring real heavy mining equipment that can be found around the main exhibition halls. The importance and significance of heritage conservation for the ex-tin mining sites are relevant as the testimony of the past mining activities and offer the opportunity for the tourist to experience the ‘living museum’ and to have direct contact to the mining landscapes. Exploring Bako National Park

One of many stunning places in Malaysia, Bako National Park is located in Kuching Division, Sarawak, and the oldest national park in the region. It was established in 1957.

At the tip of Muara Tebas Peninsula at the mouth of Bako and Kuching Rivers, Bako National Park covers an area of 27.27 square kilometers.

The cliffs, stretches of white sand bays, and rocky headlands were created by the erosion of sand storms million years ago.

Wave erosions at the base of the cliffs have carved many beautiful shaped sea arches and sea stacks with colored patterns formed by iron deposits.

Most of these rock formations can be seen on entry to Teluk Assam Beach. The park can only be reached by boat for about 20-minutes from the village of Kampung Bako. It is often visited as a day-trip from Kuching.

Bako is one of the smallest national parks in Sarawak. However, it features lively ecosystem, abundant wildlife, jungle, streams, waterfalls, beaches, and trekking trails.

Various beaches are accessible by boat from Kampung Bako OR Teluk Assam, as well as geologically interesting sea stack rock formations.

Known for its vibrant cities, beautiful landscapes and rainforests, Malaysia is also home to some of the most beautiful breath-taking beaches in Asia.

The Rainforest World Music Festival is an annual three-day music festival celebrating the diversity of world music, held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia, with daytime music workshops, cultural displays, craft displays, food stalls, and main-stage evening concerts. The festival is at number 8 position in Top 10 of the Transglobal World Music Chart Festival awards The Rainforest World Music Festival is an annual event celebrating music from global artists, international indigenous people as well Sarawakian tribe. The three days of festivities present music that creates a remarkable feeling to the people attending the celebration. This celebration is not only to show talents and performance but it also worlds opinion on the importance of rainforest preservation around the world. In the island's Sarawak Culture Village, at the foot of the jungle of Mount Santubong, the festival site is described as a living museum for the rest of the year. For a couple of decades now, taking place in July or early August, the Festival has been rocking the rainforest.
