Adios Blog! This is the final module of my undergraduate degree in graphic communication at BCU. I have tried to document my process between this and my pdf, don't expect my grammar to be perfect. But I will make the content interesting.

So as you probably heard and seen, the blog hasn't been my best friend. I never seem to understand how people can write and post on everything they have done and seen. I have tried to document most of my theory research, but obviously I have missed a lot throughout my time but can’t change that now. Below I will just evaluate myself against the 4 learning outcomes.
Knowledge & Understanding (Research & Audience)
I see myself as quite a creative strategist/ junior planner, this year especially has brought to light how I can extract key insights from pages and pages of research. This year all my campaigns have a strong foundation, this is by having strong key insights in why I am doing the campaign. Because my research has been so thorough it has given the campaign the best chance to interact with the audience it has been selected for. In the end of the day, we advertise to effect our target audience. You cant do this with a boring campaign that been done before.
Intellectual Skills (Creative Thinking & Communication)
I have adapted a strategic way of working, as I have previously said I make sure all campaigns are built on key insights. This helps my thinking for the creation of projects. Using strong insights to scamp, allows hundreds of ideas to flow. I found that most of my projects this year don't just stem from one scamp, its a merge of multiple. For example for my jcdecaux campaign I had three scamps which had their own key insights, but had one similarity. This was then merged into my main campaign idea, and the old scamps were just added into the strategy plan.
Practical Skills (Technical Means & Production)
As a designer I am leaving university with a set of skills that I feel sets me apart from the rest. I am overall a well rounded designer to the highest level. I have an extremely high knowledge of softwares such as photoshop, inDesign, illustrator, after effects, dreamweaver and many other applications. I am leaving university with a great theory knowledge of basic design like layout, typography, colour hierarchy, presentation skills and many other every day skills. But what puts me apart from the rest is my creative thinking, key insight finding, organisation skills, art direction and overall ooh advertising understanding which focuses on interaction.
Key Transferable Skills (Collaboration & Enterprise)
So the end of my undergraduate degree has come, what next?
I am a designer who is leaving univercity focuses in advertising (creative thinking & insight finding), but like most people don't really know. I can code websites, create mobile games, create applications and many more digital led jobs. But one thing I have found while art directing projects, I enjoy educating and helping people. I would one day love to take my skills and help students in a university situation. In the meantime though, I have been doing a placement in a high school. Watching teaching in both art & design, Design and technology and digital graphics. From my short time there, I have loved helping the kids learn skills such as photoshop, photography and starting their creative journeys.
I dont know what I will be doing a year today, but what I do know is I am leaving with a multi discipline set of skills I could go anywhere. And with my work ethic I will.

I thought I would wait till the last day to put the final words to my time a Birmingham city university
Looking back at major studies, has made me realise it’s been the perfect way to end my undergraduate degree. This year has not only challenged my design process, but have taught me how to crucial skills in advertising that I will certainly take within the workplace.
For me this year was all about learning the crucial processes and building a portfolio, this is so when I finish university I have a suit of work I'm not only proud of but shows me in the best light.
This year has seen me grow from just a creative with ideas, to someone who can take the idea. Critically challenge the concept, and create a final outcome that works with the brief and is effective towards the audience. I have also found myself as quite a junior art director this year, collaborating with my peers and other departments to bring the best possible out comes
I am looking forward to the years to come, where ever design takes me. If it’s from a design agency or to teaching, I will for sure return to bcu as a guest lecture one day.

‘Just liked planned’
Planning has been a hard process, and seeing it all come to life after all the measuring and visualisation is amazing.

After all the mockups, the work has finally been hanged up like planned. Strangly enough the mockups I did ages ago look identical to the final versions.

Gradshow Podium
After a conversation earlier in the week in university, I have been placed in a room without anywhere to store my portfolio. So I went to my local hardware store, purchased some wood and made this home made box to show my work. With homemade spray painted name, and wooden buns card holders will be a perfect way to showcase my work.

Colour Scheme - I picked a colour scheme to represent the types of weather there are, and the importance scale.
Using the minds associated feeling to colour, a theme I learned within my dissertation.

LOGO MEANING
In italian aira mean’s ‘air’. The name reflects how important your daughter is for you. You need her as much as you need air to live!
This meaning is perfect and that’s why my campaign is called aria. My campaign is all about an application that you need to survive in extreme weather circumstances.

Structure, use of space and illustration style are all new to me when it comes to info graphics.
But to note I was surprised how editorial design was very similare regarding infographics. The way you structure text, reading directions and content was very similar. As you can see thought this web page, you can see I have been looking into editorial a lot. As it’s just one more skill I want to add in my arsenal.

Loading inspiration
In previous posts I have spoken about how the logo is inspired by loading animations. Here is an example of some of the loading animations that have helped me.
For any advice I give to someone creating loading animations and brand indeitiy inspired by user friendly design. I would recommend you look at structure and how you want to animate. I found it helped working backwards, creating my animation and then finding shapes for the logo that can be transformed into the icons.
