"I'll be that company, although don't mind me if I have some calls to make and receive, work is still work." she said seriously changing her clothes inside, she didn't expect the girl to ask a question while she was dressing though, but as she removed the dress and changed back into her work clothes she spoke "I, work at the CAC Art Gallery as an Art Director, you might want to come and visit sometime there, if I'm not tight with projects, meetings, some bits and pieces of arrogant clientele, some unsure workers or problematic students, I can give you a tour - although tough luck sometimes, I'm usually busy." she shrugged on her blazer and ruffled her hair back to it's normal curl before opening the door.
"What about you then? What do you do, schooling? Dancing perhaps?" she asked as she was fixing her things only giving a glance and a small grin at her mention of dancing. She hoped she was right on the spot. They both went towards the cashier and while Bette paid she asked "What kind of clothes do you like to wear? I'm guessing from what you have now, well, let's find something to mix and match?" she took out her card to pay and thanked the cashier afterwards walking out the store. "There are some blouses down at the second floor together with nice skirts, I think there's a good place down at Antoine's Apparel, we can try there." she walked along the mall, heels clicking on the tiles with a purpose as she pushed buttons on her phone. "There are some nice shoes over just a few shops on the right from Antoine's, so if you like boots or heels they would have- of course if that's still their place." she smiled "as I said, busy, I haven't been shopping for a long time."

"The whole street is filled with shops, we can probably find something there." There was something about the girl that intrigued Bette, maybe it was the accent, which reminded her of Helena, and in which Bette shrugged that thought out, Helena was still a sore topic, at least it was for her. Or something about the way the girl moved, it wasn't so obvious, but she was sure the girl was a dancer of sorts, she'd seen many quirks and body shapes all too well from the creative seen.
Bette excused herself to the dressing room to change back, one she was outside she nodded towards the girl. "Ready to go and find something for you?" she smiled as she went towards the counter to pay. "I'm normally busy, but I'm not for a few fours, helping you find something is the least I could do after you've allowed me to have this garment. Oh speaking of the garment and since of course I owe it to you really." she measured her words not wanting to sound too friendly already.
"Let's well, shop for a while.." Bette smiled in her head she really wanted to know what this girl does. "Then maybe have some snack before my meeting at 4?"

Bette continued to just look at the girl and the dress and when the girl did offer the dress, Bette couldn't help but smile. "Thank you" she said almost breathless, taking care to let the dress softly caress her hands. "This is definitely what I need." she smiled and said the words more to herself.
When the girl asked if she could see that Bette would try it on, Bette almost balked at the forwardness, she didn't think that it would be something usually said by just anyone. Rather than telling the girl off or saying something else she nodded. "I guess that's a good deal." she smiled "Hello Aria, I'm Bette nice to meet you." she said meaning it as she shook the girl's hand-- it wasn't normal to get kids to actually be nice - kids meaning anyone younger than 30, and the girl definitely seemed to be not that old.
"I'll just uh, try it on." she said, and went towards the dressing room. For a moment, Bette thought about the girl, the forwardness made her think for a moment and then it hit her, the accent was there too. Making sure she had the dress perfectly on, Bette looked at the top to bottom mirror, it fitted quite nicely, it wasn't that revealing, but most importantly it was definitely classy in it's own style, with both shoulders exposed and a strap forming from the left side that looped along the right part of her neck. The dress came down nicely on her ankles, it might have been a little bit too long, but since she'd be wearing heels, that wasn't an excuse. Pulling her hair back up in a messy bun, she took a breath and went outside.
"I think it's good." she said towards the girl. "This will be a good buy for me. Although of course this is just a peek and not the whole thing." she smiled and extended an invitation. "I can't help but wonder, are you new in LA? The accent is pretty much from England." she smiled, sharing a bit of her curiosity to the girl who oh so allowed her to get the dress she wanted. "Have you also picked a dress for you? In turn I can help you with it, let me just finish fixing myself up for this one."

Bette stopped because the girl was pretty, she was eye catching, but the biggest reason is because she knew she spotted someone who did art, using the body, it was in the girl's form, or at least that's her first impression, blinking to get her bearing straight she nodded. "Yes, I was, are you looking for to buy it?" Bette asked aware that she had to have the dress and can only hope the girl wouldn't buy it. "Because I really, really need that dress." she hoped the girl wouldn't put up a fight, because she did need that, and Bette was willing to give something, if not anything just to get that dress.
"There are pretty much a lot of other dresses around, uh, maybe you can find something else?" she said as she closed her eyes and pinched the bridge of her nose "I'm sorry, that was insensitive, but really, I need that and I can't stress it enough." she gave a shrug, biting her lower lip in anxiety - , half thankful that she didn't have to go anywhere for the moment since her meeting was by dinnertime. She had time to look for clothes, granted she could go and find some other dress or some other place to shop as well, but there was something about this shop, and that dress that she knew she had to get her hands on.

Clothes Shopping || Bette and OPEN
Bette had clothes. She has a lot of clothes, ranging from the usual home clothes, to the power suit she would use when the gallery was meeting someone important. This time, she was pissed. A lot. there was no denying it as none other but Bette Porter drove around  the whole West Hollywood, just barely above maximum speed limit,  trying to find the perfect dress for the big gallery meet in another competitor art museum.
"No James, I don't need an early appointment, I need Mr. Lefruge to re-schedule the meeting.. I don't care - anywhere! As long as it's in LA!" she said to the microphone, almost missing a red light. "I don't care what he says - ... okay, okay" she calmed down "just tell him, we'll give him something of a boon, for cooperation or something - I just need to go - and oh please, ready the driver for this Friday night, I really need to get those art pieces." finally at her destination, Bette was able to park and breathe "Thank you James."
Just outside the apparel shop her colleague told her about,  she went in, it wasn't the most fanciest of places, it wasn't something that many famous people would go to, but the shop was being owned and most of the clothes were being tailored by a very well crafted individual. That was what Bette was after- if not the name, then the craft of the dress. She wanted to see it for herself, if there was really something about it.
Looking around the aisles for the certain dress that was said to be "picked with just one sense" she looked around desperately trying to let her "inner self" try and see it, turning around the corner there it was, att he end of the aisle, a cool green dress from one of the wall hangings. "I need that..." she whispered to herself, in a trance like state, she knew she needed it and almost ran towards it, but let her heels click the tiles in a practiced walk as to not lose her grace, just as she was so close to it, a hand came out of no where.
Either Bette would have stuttered or seriously got mad, but she settled on taking a deep breath, eyes closed, and spoke "Mam, can I pleas-" she opened her eyes at the last word stopped -.

Oh, I didn't mean it that way, I appreciate any kind of dances, there are so much- as long as the dancer of course shows their passion in it, then that's the important thing.. [Bette smiled with the girl] Have you ordered? My sister Kit, owns the place. If you want to, I have a few minutes before I meet a client - unless of course you're with someone else?
Tumblr media
What's a girl have to do to get someone interested in her?
Looking down at her feet for a moment. “Well, I’m not that kind of dancer. I wish, I mean I’ve done a little bit but I couldn’t afford that if my life depended on it.” Smiling up at the woman. “I’m Samantha, it’s a pleasure to meet you Bette.” She said as she shook her hand.

Wow a dancer, i'm impressed what kind? I know someone who dances too, ballet and dancer's are always needed in the art forte.  It's great to meet someone who is interested in the creative languages of the body. I'm Bette Porter. [she offers out her hand, the dancer that this girl is, might prove  fruitful to the students she had at CAC one day]

What's a girl have to do to get someone interested in her?
Samantha looked at the intimidating brunette in front of her. “I come here at odd times. Usually before work so I have energy to dance..” She smiled, and bit her lip. “I’ve seen you here though.”

[Bette blinks and nods] I'll call you back something came up, yes, yes you can use the main gallery for two days, no not three, two, 48 hours and not an hour more. [she closes her phone and turns to the girl]
Tumblr media
You're new here aren't you? Or I haven't been in the the Planet for so long, I don't know the regulars.
What's a girl have to do to get someone interested in her?
Raising a brow to her slightly, before nodding. “Didn’t think I was being loud…sorry..”

After fixing up the breakfast and Tina did her errands, Kit and Bette caught up with their own lives while Angelica slept after playing a little bit more, the tiredness of the morning swim and playtime sent her snoring to sleep land. In just another handful of hours when Kit just resting on the couch til Tina comes back and Bette had already changed into her own clothing the clock struck 2:30 and Angelica was already ready.
In the car, Bette's phone vibrated a few times, she could feel her partner's eyes on it, but didn't mind so much, her promise was that she would look, but not reply... unless really important, so look she did, it were just some few texts from James but nothing that important, so she let it go.
At the Carnival Kit presented her free tickets and Tina with Angelica went in, the attendant at the front holding a tray spotted them, before the attendant could give any to Tina and Angelica, they already left, the attendant turned to look at the Porter sisters and smiled "For the first weekend in WeHo beautiful ladies!" he said with enthusiasm.
Kit shook her head saying something along the lines of watching her figure, Bette gladly took the smallest one and it only took two bites before it was all gone. Walking along with Kit in the place and taking a picture of her older sister, Bette turned to look at the two other girls with them, and then Bette actually smiled for the first time with genuine feelings. She stepped beside Tina to walk alongside her "You seem happier than Angelica" Bette said smiling at her partner, even with the glasses on Bette's eyes to shield away from the sun she couldn't help but see how beautiful and radiant Tina seemed, as if it was coloring around her. "You look beautiful smiling Tee, I hope you always smile." she said not even knowing why she said the last line but didn't mind.
When Tina rode the RollerCoaster with Kit, Bette declined and reached out for Angelica, "While you go and do that, I'll go to the fish pond just over there" she pointed, the line was a bit long so it will take a few moments before the other two came back. In the pond, where Bette was carrying Angelica in her arms, she kept pointing at the fishes "Looking Angie! Very colorful carps, big ones too!" Bette giggled "Aren't they so cute?" Another attendant came up and offered some fish feeds for 45 cents a bag, Bette bought four for no reason and just threw the feeds in the air laughing at the reactions of the fishes, all the colors were just swimming in her head.
The next was something even unknowingly high--- Bette wouldn't do. Teacups. Kit said no to it, primarily because it gave her headache, but Tina's smile and Angie's please made Bette do it, and she fucking regretted getting in the ride, it was like she was in an Alice in Wonderland video, it was surreal, she tried to smile and just looked at the happy faces of her blonde and daughter. Focusing on that, the ride was a little less irritating.
When they were finally done on the teacup ride, Bette watched Angie barely walk fast towards Kit calling "An-ty Kit!" she enjoyed the ride so much that she wanted another one, but then Kit really didn't do the teacup ride so they both settled on the boat. While Bette talked to Kit wanting to make sure everything would be alright, Bette turned to Tina but before she could speak, her partner was already tugging on her arm. She wanted to say no, but that smile, that smile of Tina did it and she was just smiling all the way too.
The line was terribly long, they've been there for twenty minutes and they were only halfway. While Bette continued smiling at Tina, she realized if she looked everywhere else BUT her partner, her mood would turn sour for some reason, but when it's back to looking at her blonde, her world lighted up considerably, a part of her brain told her that she looked stupid since coming in the carnival, looking at Tina and smiling like a love struck teen, but somewhere in her too, she didn't care.
That is until her phone rang, now her phone was on vibrate, and it only rang for three people. Tina, Kit and the highest boss of all. For a moment she thought it was Kit then her eyes widened, it was the top man. She looked at Tina with thoroughly guilty eyes. "I'm sorry Tee", she said her lips near the blonde's eyes. "I really am, but--- this call, it's too important, just one." she almost hiccuped her feelings but then realized what she was going and regained balance, but her head was still light. "I promise this will be the last call or I'm going to throw this phone in the fish pond." she said torn. "The line is still halfway, I'll catch up to you. Save me your spot okay?" she said kissing Tina swiftly before excusing her way away from the crowded noise of the line, she turned her head back, small tears on the side of her eyes.
She didn't know why she felt that way, like she was so emotional all of a sudden. Taking a deep breather the ringing of the phone for some reason became so loud it gave her a headache "Hello?" she said "Bette Porter speaking." she continued looking back at the line trying to find the blonde hair, but when the top spoke, her Type A came back full force, sobering her a bit, she removed her gaze from the line and walked farther, talking on the phone - walking for who knows how long already, not noticing the brownies attendants keep giving her and she was eating them without a thought.... not noticing that she was already walking towards the Fun House.
