We open the proceedings with this nice wide shot, where we can see Bodyguard Eve and The Apple He Took Several Bites Out Of Last Night enjoying their own private idyll. This garden hasn't appeared before in the series, and I like the implication that it's their own secluded Eden.

Khanin has put on Anne Shirley's favourite blouse for the occasion, along with his navy slacks and the waistcoat he wore most notably during his prior disagreement with Charan about the depth of their friendship and commitment to each other. It's a pretty triumphant look for a prince who not only survived a poisoning, but also a steamy and fulfilling tumble from Morpheus' number one ranked sexy teacher on RateMyProfessor dot com. The kind of smug ensemble one might use to not only signal to the Shy Prince from Next Door that you don't have designs on him like your grandfather hopes, and also to let him into your confidence and build some trust. 10/10 for post coital glow, and securing a gay alliance by sleeping with the teacher.

It's also notable that Charan and Khanin, leaving their own Eden, take a stroll through the one Charan was banished from, and that Khanin takes the opportunity to reassure Charan that not only will he not cease being an epic flirt, he will be doing it more, thank you very much. It's a nice visual reclaiming of the space as one for the two of them.

True to his word, Khanin shows up for study hall in some sassy little heeled boots, a gold-trimmed blouse, and a brown brocade waistcoat that I thought he'd worn before but sike that was a taokenoi ad. This is another great outfit and the heel on those boots is pretty figure skate adjacent. I'm deducting half a point for the brooch dangle, a 9.5/10 for sleeping with your bodyguard and never letting him forget he's only .03 seconds away from getting another little bite of your apple anytime he'd like.

Speaking of, cue the training montage!

GAY SPORTS! Last week I did joke that Khanin, now freed of his restraints, was probably going to attempt to pull Charan into every broom closet, parlour with a settee and a lock, or onto any reasonably structurally sound and out of the way piece of furniture he could find, and that Charan would be like "not here" and "don't worry your highness I know a place" and of course:

GAY HORSE! Thank god Charan is too classy to press a young Prince up against the most horrifying horse mural ever painted... for now.

Khanin arrives for breakfast the next day in the blouse he was wearing to come home from Davichmetha last episode, probably to once again throw his grandfather off the scent. This is a new waistcoat and I like the pattern mixing and the visual texture provided by the neck ribbon. No issues with this look, and I am happy to see this blouse back with a little more contrast in the outfit overall. An 8/10 for a perfectly serviceable look to team up with your new Gay Alliance Prince to get you both out of town for a sexy weekend of hanging out with your commoner boyfriends at your Fun Uncle's place, only to be cockblocked by your Grandfather who is trying to politically arrange your marriage.

However god is a woman and she said, let my people go; Khanin is summoned to an audience with his elders and conveniently told he'll have to escort Prince Calvin on his own. He very notably has zero protests about this.

Khanin has worn these pants, the cummerbund, and blouse in this look all before, but he is wearing a new and beautifully pearl-adorned cropped jacket. I like the in-universe idea that it was made especially for this trip, that much like British Royals sloping around the commonwealth in culturally significant and slightly tone-deaf looks, Chakri had this jacket encrusted with pearls in support of the Meenanagarin industry. As we heard in the Very Important Investors Meeting in ep 2, Meenanagarin relies on Atsavadevathin bankrolling their pearl research for their main source of GDP, so this jacket is a symbolic nod to, and glaring reminder of, that support.

It's also a golden and shining reminder to your new and exceptionally cautious boyfriend that just because your Uncle seems chill doesn't mean you should defile his guestroom. How dare he? You've worn your silkiest and shapeliest pantaloons to show off your best assets for just this purpose! 6/10 for a lace flounce that would fly up and hit you in the face, and skate partner who will be sleeping in the other room.

Charan makes a full recovery the following day by taking Khanin on a little beach date and buying him the dark champagne pearl he really wanted. I know this skate partnership is going to work, because Charan is like "hey lil mama let me whisper in ya ear: I have two dependable toyotas" and Khanin immediately matches his freak. Khanin is wearing our least favourite pants, a breezy beige shirt, and a white undershirt. It's like the daytime version of his club look from ep 6. It's a perfectly serviceable beach outfit, if a bit fancy, and kind of makes me wonder why they weren't wearing the Jim Thompson collection Zee and NuNew designed themselves, and Super Sun shades, since we are clearly in the sponsored commercial break episode. These are clothes you definitely can skate in, but a colour combo you probably wouldn't choose. 5/10 for inexplicably amazing post-hat hair, cute couples outfits, and the implication Charan will be giving Khanin a pearl necklace at some point.

High on smooch-endorphins, which he clearly needs to live, Khanin has an audience with his Fun Cool Uncle about going to the Anti-Dust protest. Khanin is wearing his white pants, the vest he came home from Davichmetha in, and the rose patterned blouse he wore in the library last episode, while Charan was still Trapped In Demon Horse Mural Prison. I have to say, I really like that Khanin seems to have a core wardrobe that Chakri is mixing and matching; I like that whenever we are in Khanin's Freeskate Closet of Dreams, we can see all of the clothes he actually wears hanging up there. In fact in the closet room shot this episode, the blouse he'd worn to breakfast with the King was hanging next to the mirror, as though he'd just changed out of it, or Chakri was airing it out from the last wear. Most series just have everyone in a new outfit every week, but Khanin's outfit repeating is an endearing bit of realism I really enjoy. It makes in-universe sense; all of Khanin's clothes would have been made or purchased for him within the short period of time between Charan being dispatched to England, and their arrival at the palace. He wouldn't have the closet depth and breadth of someone who'd been acquiring clothes over a lifetime, and he came to Emmaly with only whatever Charan bought him before they left London. He does have a large wardrobe, but not an extensive one. The white of this outfit in this scene makes him blend in to the surroundings like a little pearl, like maybe he is the son and not the nephew. 6/10 - It's not high contrast enough to freeskate in, but he looks good!

Finally, Khanin heads out to stick it to the man (his family) by singing the songs of angry men (who are angry with his family). The simple button down, tan sweater vest and what I think might be brown corduroy pants are designed to make him look relatably like one of the folk, but he is the only person at the protest in a sweater vest with a full complement of armed guards. 0/10 for trying to help but having it backfire, 10/10 to Chakri for another pair of suspenders, keep living your truth king! Next week seems to be more politics and palace intrigue, so see you 'round the barricade mes amis!
