I'm a little behind on the #doodlewashjanuary2021 challenge. This is prompt skeleton I was so very tired Thursday and Friday and didn't know why. I've made a point this week of going to bed early and not taking naps. I think it was just the cumulative effect/affect of the madness of this week. Ive been glued to CNN, Washington Post, and NY Times. Gonna try and paint and be peaceful. ... and keep doomscrolling Because frankly, seeing all those chest-thumping insurrectionists get arrested and blame their actions on Tangerine Palpatine, and say they weren't there illegally, they were invited by the president and my favorite, 'oh, I just picked up those zip tie cuffs. I wasn't hunting for members of congress to take hostage.' Not like there isn't footage of these terrorists forcing their way through barricades and chanting 'hang Pence'. These little pengwings are a #letsmakeart tutorial I realized I hadn't said anything about the horrors on the capital. It's hard when you have an art Insta to find ways of incorporating current events. So I'm I'm not going to bother with trying to finesse it in. I'm ENRAGED that a bunch of white supremacists invaded the heart if the capital and our democracy, were allowed inside barricades, were helped down stairs, after a summer that saw peaceful demonstrators teargassed, assaulted, beaten, kettled, ran over, flown over by helicopter - and these are things not allowed by the Geneva Convention. Wonder what the difference was? Oh yeah. Black and brown bodies don't get the free pass, the ticket to wander and pillage unmolested through the halls of our government. No one says oh well there weren't enough cops to process all those people when BIPOC are protesting police brutality. There weren't enough cops because the assholes don't take white supremacy seriously. They think they aren't a threat. I hope the delusion has been done away with. Do you ever paint in the dark? Ok, don't laugh. I don't mean pitch black, but ya see, I get headaches when the weather changes and I get light sensitive. Even after the headache goes away I can still be light sensitive but... I want to paint. So I'll experiment or do something on a small scale while I sit in limited light. And I did this little bugger yesterday. This was to test out some watercolor pencils on my itty bitty Paul Ruebens sketchbook. I really enjoyed them. A mix of Faber Castell and Sketchbox pencils for the background and regular watercolors for the details. These pencils blended out beautifully. I'm really pleased with this. This is for #doodlewashjanuary2021 prompt baby. Let me explain. No. Let me sum up. Do you remember that daddy, baby obsession the internet had for awhile last year? It irritated the hell out of me, but then I saw all these @loeybug posts proclaming "am baby!" and as she is a delicate ray of sunshine wrapped in a soft blanket of paranormal and true crime, I suddenly decided to just let people like stuff and stop being such a curmudgeon. And now whenever I see the word baby I think of her. And she posted this AMAZING photo on Insta and I wanted to recreate it... Well I'm late. It's been 8 minutes since the new year came in and I'm just now posting the last post for 2020, prompt Celebration. These little rabbits (They are supposed to be rabbits ) are wondering what's going on? Why are we drawn so badly? First thing I need to work on in 2021 is my drawing skills. I am pretty proud that I did 30 of the 31 prompts for #doodlewashdecember2020 and I have my list and even most of my reference photos all lined up for next month. Thank God it's over. 2020 you sucked. You won't be missed. You ended better than you began (soon Tangerine Palpatine will be gone and the healing can truly begin).
