Book Update

Hi everyone! I just want to reassure you all that your books are on the way. They were all sent out before Christmas but delivery estimates don't include weekends or bank holidays so with Christmas and New Year, things are going to take a little longer to arrive than normal (especially with the huge volume of mail that is sent out over this period). I'm only just hearing that the books are arriving in Europe so European orders should be with you shortly while the rest of the world will take a little longer. Every year, a group of like-minded fans come together to celebrate their love of Beyblade by creating artwork throughout October. The Beyblade Art Making Month has taken place annually since 2008, with 2018 marking the event’s 10th Anniversary.

This book collects together over 50 illustrations featuring Takao, Max, Kai and Rei, as well as a wealth of other fan favourites. Thanks so much to everyone who has already submitted art/comments for the <b>BeyArMaMo 10th Anniversary Art Book</b>!

If anyone's thinking of submitting something but haven’t already got in touch, if possible could you just reply to this to give me a heads up? Just a rough idea of what you’d like to submit (event art, comment or new anniversary art) would be great. No problem if you can’t, I’m just hoping to get a vague idea of how many people are interested in submitting and how many pages I’ll need.

You’ve got until the 19th November to submit your pieces but if you need a bit longer just let me know. I’m happy to help you out as best I can.

BeyArMaMo 10th Anniversary Art Book

As you may know, @beyarmamo is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. You may also know that I plan to put together an art book to celebrate. Well, I’ve finally worked out all the details and I’m now providing them here for you should you wish to get involved!

About

The 10th Anniversary art book is personal project I’m working on to both share my artwork from the past eleven years and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the event in more general terms. Above is a rough idea for its layout and examples of some of its content.

The first two thirds of the book will be split into eleven sections, one for every year BeyArMaMo has been running. These sections will include information about each year’s event as well as a selection of my artwork.

The final third of the book will be dedicated to celebrating the 10th anniversary of BeyArMaMo.

My hope here is to include:

Information about the 2018 event and its participants

Artwork by participants from past and present events

Comments from participants from past and present events

Artwork from participants specifically created to celebrate the 10th anniversary

Obviously, the final third of the book is dependant on you lovely folk wanting to get involved. Read on to find out how you can do that.

Submissions

If you quite like the sound of being part of this celebratory book then there’s a few ways you can join in.

i) Submit artwork you have created for past or present events.

That drawing of Kai you drew for the 2014 event? Send it on over. That fic you wrote in this year’s event? Yes please. If you have any BeyArMaMo piece you’d like to share from any year then feel free to send it on over for consideration. While BeyArMaMo celebrates artwork in all stages of completion, please only submit what you feel is your best work for the book.

All artwork will be credited and you may provide one social media link to be posted with it if you would like to.

ii) Submit a comment about BeyArMaMo

Share your BeyArMaMo stories here. Why did you first participate? What’s kept you coming back? What’s your favourite thing about the event? If this was your first event, how did it go?

Again, all comments will be credited. If you would like to provide artwork and a comment, that’s absolutely fine. Encouraged even.

iii) Submit a piece of artwork celebrating BeyArMaMo’s 10th Anniversary

Do you just love BeyArMaMo that much that, heck yeah, you wanna draw Rei with cake because everything needs a cake for its anniversary. Or, you know what, you just totally feel Kai’s stripey BeyArMaMo jumper and you just wanna have some of that action? If you’re excited that the event’s reached this milestone and you want to celebrate it by way of art then please feel free.

As above, all art will be credited.

How To Submit Your Artwork And / Or Comments

To submit artwork and / or comments, please email them directly to hello@beyarmamo.co.uk, making sure to include your name (real or nickname, whichever you want printing), the year your artwork is from (where possible) and any social media or personal website link you would like printing (please only provide one link).

Please submit all content by Monday 19th November.

Artwork Specifications

Artwork must be at least 300dpi.

Artwork can be any shape or orientation but please make sure the shortest edge is at least 750px long. This is the absolute minimum length / width your image should be.

Artwork can be provided as RGB but will be converted to CMYK which may result in a slight difference in colour.

High quality, clean scanned images are allowed. Photographs should also be of a high quality and well lit.

Literature / Comment Specifications

Literature and comments will be posted as received so please make sure you have spellchecked like a pro! I know it’s not always easy to catch typos - I’ve printed plenty - but please just give things a final once over before you submit.

Comments can be short little tweet-sized things or a couple of paragraphs. It’s entirely up to you and what you want to say.

Size: A5

Pages: 48-62 (depending on number of submissions)

Cover: 300gsm silk paper with a smooth matt finish

Inner paper: 130gsm silk

Release date: Late November (approx)

Shipping: Worldwide

Estimated Price: £8 (Small runs in printing tend to be quite expensive. This is on the assumption of only getting 10 orders. If it looks like there may be more then it might work out a little cheaper. This price will not exceed this though - I’ll cover any potential additional costs out of my own pocket)

Important Information

i) This book is being being put together by a Beyblade fan who loves art. It’s a total labour of love and unlikely to make a profit (or even break even). I’ll be making this book whether no one submits anything and I’ll be making it if no one orders it but me! On the whole, all my books are funded from my own pocket, and more often than not, at a loss. All this basically means is that I cannot provide anything (monetary or otherwise) in return for you submitting artwork. If you choose to do so it must be on the understanding that you’re doing it just because you want to. Obviously, I understand people not wanting to provide artwork for free and that’s absolutely fine. Please consider submitting a comment instead.

ii) All submissions must be received by Mon 19th November. This will give me roughly two weeks to finish the print file, get it printed and sent to me ready for dispatch at the very end of the month. There’s always something that goes wrong though so please be aware that the shipping date may change by a week or two.  Preorders will go up mid November when the book is more or less complete.

iii) To keep costs down, there’s only a maximum of 18 pages available for submissions. This is actually a decent amount of space but should I get an influx of submissions then I may not be able to print all of them. I’ll do my best to print everything that’s sent to me but I thought I’d better mention this just in case.

iv) If your images are not of a high enough quality (in a printing sense, not an artwork sense) then I may have to refuse them. If you’re not sure about resolution or size, just email me and I’ll help you out.

Beyarmamo Day 31 - Happy Halloween!! In this house we LOVE Carlos.

I spent way too long on this piece but I wanted to end with a bang, so it’s ok… anyways I want to thank @beyarmamo and all of the other participants and especially the organizers for such a fun event! This was my first year joining but beyarmamo’s 10th anniversary, and I had a blast and can’t wait for next year.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Day 31 of BeyArMaMo!

I was planning on doing… every team. Then I cut it down to the S1 teams. Then I cut it down to just the bladebreakers because this took me 6+ hours because Kai, Ray, Daichi, and Tyson weren’t cooperating and my hand is dying. (Daichi was supposed to be standing on Max’s and Hilary’s shoulders, but now let’s just say he’s jumping because i gave up) and then I had to resize the shit out of the picture so I would stop. Crashing. Everything. XD

So! Costume time! I tried to give everyone a costume of something I knew personally that I figured would fit either aesthetically wise or personality wise. Cuz Halloween’s just another reason to cosplay, right?
