Hiromi in different outfits I've been thinking of for different AUs I come up for her.

Number 4 is a Taishou inspired Kimono (think 1910s Japan like Demon Slayer.)

Kai Hiwatari Headcanons:

There might be more, but these are the ones I could think of:

Music was part of his mandatory classes while attending the boarding school, and he can play the piano rather well, but doesn’t because he never bothered buying one;

Has a decent singing voice but you won’t catch him singing unless he’s really drunk;

Owns quite the collection of vinyl and CD records, and prefers those over music apps;

Isn’t necessarily a bad cook, but will try his best to make a decent meal;

Donates most of the money he makes to animal shelters;

Prefers animals over people;

Still visits Wyatt’s parents whenever he gets the chance;

Cried himself to sleep after his grandfather’s passing, and mostly due to the fact they never truly mended their relationship;

Has a secret collection of shirts containing logos of the teams he fought at the third world championship; no one has any idea of how or even why;

Has gotten used to having Tala as a Beyblade partner;

Is more honest with the Blitzkrieg Boys due to their shared traumas;

Hasn’t fully told Tyson and the team everything he went through as he has yet to process it all;

Uses the fact he doesn’t talk much as an excuse to not filter the words that come out of his mouth when he gets angry;

His relationship with his parents is rather messy and complicated;

Kai has told his parents to “F**k off!” more times than they could count. At first Susumu and Misaki got angry about it, but then they accepted their fault in Kai’s lack of trust and his unwillingness to have them in his life;

Owns a shirt that says “proud child of absent parents”;

After his parents left him, he sat by the front door and awaited for their return. Either Soichiro or one of his manor staff members had to pick him up and tuck him in; it was often a staff member;

Has a deep scar on his right hand after falling and hitting it on a snowy concrete floor, in an attempt to chase after his grandfather as he was taken away to prison;

Ryu is the only adult he seeks when he wants some advice on life;

Owns a massive dog (that looks more like a wolf) named Asa;

Will pretend to be a girl’s date at a party/wedding, especially if he sees other girls making fun of her (it has to be a girl he knows, as he doesn’t think he should approach a complete stranger);

Has received plenty of tickets to Ming-Ming’s concerts, but only attended one or two. Kenny is very jealous of it, as he claims he has to stand in endless lines or refresh her website constantly only to not be able to but a ticket. It doesn’t help that Kai only mentions it one month after the concert;

Kai has no idea why she sends him tickets;

However, he has admitted that her and Moses/Crusher are the bladers he admires the most, and swears on his life it has nothing to do with the fact they won their matches;

Might bust some dance moves but not when there are people watching;

Worries for Tala’s safety ever since his match against Garland;

Has no recollection of what happened to him after his match against Brooklyn; all he knows is he woke up in a hospital covered in bandages, with his parents by his side;

Might fall in love but not act on it;

Has openly cursed Tala for remembering every single detail of their lives at the Abbey; Tala on the other hand is jealous at the fact Kai lost his memories; it was only when they realized this wasn’t going anywhere that they stopped fighting about it;

Has gotten used to accepting a hug when someone notices he needs it;

His therapist often says to him “You’re going to be okay” after each session, and it has taken Kai quite some time to accept and even embrace that as a truth;

Rarely cries but when he does it often takes him forever to stop;

Has only ever said “I love you” to Dranzer;

Has forgiven Brooklyn and Hiro for what they put him through at BEGA;

Regrets having joined them;

Has apologized for stealing the sacred spirits in the first world championship;

Double-jointed;

Was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. At first he was shocked and angry, but then he thought about it and merely said, “makes sense”;

Has managed to defeat Tyson;

His speech to Brooklyn was the last time he was this honest about how he feels regarding Beyblade;

Has told Mister Dickenson he’s a good person but never thanked him for anything;

Gets surprised when people tell him he’s a good person;

Has travelled the world a few times outside of championships, but he often prefers to explore Japan;

Refused to work for Hiwatari Enterprises and rather decided to risk it all and make his own path/write his own story;

Has no idea how to react when people compliment him;

Is more than aware that he’s difficult;

Has a hard time remembering the names of people he didn’t interact much with.  For instance, he was convinced for the longest time that Romero’s name was actually Ricardo and that Mathilda’s name was actually Marjorie. However, once he remembers it, he makes sure not to forget it anymore;

Romero is another person he might go to for advice, but only as a last resort;

Has eight tattoos on his body;

So we all agree they deserve the death penalty for this, right? Because, fun fact, the Death Penalty wasn't abolished in New York until 2004 soooooooooo

“Kai”

I had sketched this picture a couple months ago. At the time, I was planning on doing my usual soft inking and painting style if I had gone on to continue the picture. I suddenly felt inspired to continue this picture today, and to my surprise, I felt inclined to do dark, solid lineart. As it progressed, I went as far as filling in his shirt with black and shading it with crosshatching! I felt brave enough to do my usual watercoloring on top of this "harsh" lineart, and I think it turned out surprisingly well! The contrast between the harsh lines and soft painting suits Kai, doesn't it? I'm glad I decided not to add shines to his eyes. The soulless look suits him.

I recorded both the inking process and painting process of this picture and uploaded them to my YouTube channel!

*Ahem* Uh hi, yes, it's me again. I have more insight to share about season 01 as I try to finish up with my notes.

This scene foreshadows Kai's loss against Sergei. Here's why: In power, Kai is the strongest member of this team. But for these next matches power isn't enough, they need a strong bond of friendship, which has twisted things to now make Kai the team's weakest link.

As much as it pains me to admit this, Kai needed to lose this battle against Sergei. It was 100% the right choice on the writer's part...

But couldn't they have at least given him the second round? There's teaching him a lesson and having him overcome adversary, and then there's just plain cruelty. 😭

Okay, so maybe I’m just mesmerized since this is my first time watching a Japanese DVD, and I’m amazed that I actually got it to play on my laptop… but look how super gorgeous Takao looks!! He’s so crisp and high quality! And those blushies on his cheeks!! His hands and arms are so beautifully drawn in that first frame!!
