remembered i sat and thought about the main island kids' accents (because actual voiceclaims be damned)

Ariel- 10/10, the brief time in unova for the blueberry academy gave her an accent that not even Nat knows where it came from (like a nuyorican's speaking mannerisms)

Leanna- 7/10, takes more to the dominican side which pronounces things a bit more clearly, key words come out and are clockable

Mateo- 6/10, he's practicing how to codeswitch for meetings and such (he doesnt Have to but he does anyway), loose around family and friends, sounds like Nat when he talks

Aaliyah- 7/10, proper dominican spanish most of the time unless you get her riled up (hard to do unless you're Atlas, who does that just by existing near her), somehow the kansai-like accent she got from her johto side compliments what she got from Gabe so it has a chance of just coming out of nowhere

Atlas- 20/10, despite being in a family of polyglots this fucking kid sounds like he came from el campo/the backwoods, he doesn't live in the fucking mountains so where did it come from--

Yamilet- 3/10, on the other spectrum of being in a polyglot family where everything manages to neutralize each other and any accenting is pretty mild

Gawain- 10/10, his lil brain cant take it all, you either get a birmingham-english from being in hammerlocke or sounding a bit like Atlas

the youngest sibling to Atlas and Yamilet-6 younger than Atlas and 2 than Yami

gifted kid status, but isn't pressured by that and thus doesn't suffer from burnout

he wants to study history, specifically ancient Galarian history (and is trying to learn the equivalent of Welsh to do it)

finds a lot of comfort in fairy tales and enjoys them immensely

his necklace is a stylized sword and shield, the sword's hilt with his birthstone

a bit far-sighted, his glasses help him with reading text up close and to avoid straining his eyes

has absolutely no desire to battle

He pinpoints and pulls a grey hair with precision much to the tinier man's dismay and apparent annoyance-there were still plenty more where that one came from.

Well maintained dirt paths kick up dust as they walk, a quiet moment even with the bustle of the morning crowd. The sun beat on as it always did, for a moment things felt like they did when the island was still wild. A wave from a small group interrupts their conversation briefly, the standard "buenos dias" sounding like a rippling chorus as they acknowledge everyone along the way.

The golden sun of Johto high above, the heat of the summer in full force as tags swirl in the breeze at any slight disturbance. Mochi-sized palms stained with the juice of strawberries grabbed onto the dark curls in front of him like reins, guiding his father's sight. It took a few moments before the stall of omamori was spotted, a teal and gold charm in clear view.

With a brief exchange of words the charm traded hands, the child eyeing it for a few moments before it was put away for safekeeping.

"Y’know, kids usually want toys for their birthday. I can't blame you though, it's a really pretty charm."

Atlas' younger sibling, and the youngest of them all (4 years younger than Atlas and Mateo)

also goes by Yeshua

has synesthesia-associative chromesthesia (would hear a musical tone and associates it with a color, which appears to him as a faded pulse of light) as well as grapheme-color synesthesia when reading sheet music (each note is a different color, matches what she would hear)

also has perfect pitch from synesthesia

in the process of getting into a conservatory in Kalos for classical piano, viola, and composing, but dabbles in other instruments for fun (bass guitar mostly)

despite the image virtuosos have, she is VERY very sweet and always willing to help and cheer others on in their efforts

due to being the youngest of the group, he's a little left out from the dynamic but is still very very loved and treated well (Mateo especially gets along with him)

eldest of the group and 'designated' group shepherd

fascinated with meteorology and astronomy (especially the kind that involves rovers and sending machinery into space)

had many brushes with Nat in the past, but after getting the help he needed he's extremely grateful for Nat's graces

works as an up and coming meteorologist on the island, sometimes helps with studying dragons

in his free time, Tyr likes working with stained glass and similar materials

he's also a stormchaser, Lea often tagging along with him in pursuit of tornadoes

Errakis, despite his upbringing in Blackthorn City, is a Fairy trainer!

his parents defected from a group of 'zealots' that specialized in dragon types, and they were very transparent about their past to their son

he meets up with Lea when she's doing her rounds in Johto, tagging along and enjoying the journey before stopping by the island a few times (he's also the origin of many of Nat's headaches)

in a heated altercation on the island, he ended up stealing his grandmother's Nevermeltice dagger, which has a bit of zultanite at the hilt-Nat let him keep it due to their history, and has grown protective of Errakis as he fears she may come back for it and for vengeance

after the altercation and as things settled, Tyr made his evil eye medallion (which is also themed after Latias)

a little younger than Ariel, at most a year and then some

she and Ariel are incredibly tight-knit, and get into a bit of trouble sometimes

she's a lavender child (aka: kid born within a lavender marriage) but things are absolutely smooth between the parents; she doesn't feel any different from the rest of her family

Aaliyah is closer in biological relation to Atlas than she is to Nat's kids

travels between Johto, Tano, and Alola a lot-she does jewelry making under the guidance of Olivia

dabbles into ranger activities like Atlas, however her focus is on urban settings (essentially a first responder in training)

like Atlas too-she has a hyphenated last name but the second half isn't used for the sake of security and safety (this on the other hand doesn't bother her a lot)
