Mia saw the blur of a person before they ducked inside. She didn’t expect that person to be Billie. Though she knew it was a foolish thought Mia had hoped to avoid her until graduation. The pain and regret from their relationship was still too fresh for her comfort. And deep down she knew she still cared for her. “No umbrella? How like you.” The words hurt her more than she thought it would hurt Billie. 

Not necessarily the reaction she was expecting, though, she wasn't exactly sure what she expected from Mia, “Don’t own an umbrella. So, that made the decision pretty easy.” One of her roommates definitely did, but Billie hadn’t bothered to check before she’d left. She paused, eyes flicking over the other quickly, “Doesn’t look like you have one either, so, we’re even.” They weren't even, not even a little bit, Billie knew that, but that extended much further than just their mutual lack of umbrellas.

“i do,” she replied, pressing her body against the other woman’s with a devious smirk as she moved her own hands down to grab billie’s firm ass for good measure. admittedly, the power dynamic was enticing and she enjoyed shifting roles from time to time, even if she had to let go of the control she greedily kept for herself. without warning, she pulled her hands away slowly, resting them on the other’s waist before pushing her onto the nearest chair. “anything i want?” those words uttered and she found herself straddling billie’s hips, her legs wrapping tightly around her roommate’s body. “why can’t i be both?” 

billie had almost been anticipating their change in position, automatically tipping her chin up to press her lips to maitê’s, her hands falling to her hips, “i said anything. and i always mean what i say.” she murmured against her friend’s lips, a smug smile on her lips, “you can call the shots, tell me how you want this to go.” she told her, lips traveling to her jaw, leaving a line of kisses in their wake, “either version of you is hot, so i have no preference.” she chuckled against her skin, “as long as i get to see you naked then i am a-ok.”

billie banged her fist against the bathroom door, groaning loudly, “you take so fuckin’ long in there! what are you doing? washing each strand of hair one-by-one?” being roommates with someone you had dated was weird and making it work was hard, but right now? she was just annoyed, “devin, i swear to god! open the goddamn door!”

– “I DON’T WANT YOUR FUCKING TEXTBOOKS,” claire snaps. she knows she doesn’t come from as affluent of a family as a lot of the gallagher students with their government ties, but she certainly doesn’t want to be seen as the sort of person who needs handouts. “and i don’t have much use for your loyalty,” she adds, voice dripping with disdain. “but i guess i wouldn’t say no to your help. whoever wins could owe the other a favor?” 

“ok, ok, fine- i probably wasn’t gonna buy them anyway.” billie shrugs, smirking slightly. though, it was mostly because she couldn’t afford them, not because she was a shitty student or something like that. as the other continues, she brings a hand to her heart, mocking pain, “that hurts, claire bear, how dare you. my loyalty is worth gold i tell you! very rude.” dropping her hand and cutting the dramatics, billie nods once, “ok, that i can get onboard with- what kinda favor did you have in mind?”

over the last few days, she had succeeded in crossing the line with billie and in different positions and locations. still, she couldn’t get enough of the brash femme or her skilled tongue, metaphorical and literal speaking. she was intoxicating and everything maitê should have despised in a person. “i can be a good girl,” she murmured in an uncharacteristically soft octave, moving billie’s hand from her waist to her ass in one swift motion. “all you have to do is ask.” 

billie’s eyebrows shot up as maitê made her move, a soft laugh passing her lips, “oh? well, you already know how i like it.” she leaned in close, her lips almost brushing against the latina’s ear, “and i prefer when you are bad... and i know you do too.” if she wasn’t a little bit afraid of her friend, billie might have called her out for her desire for power. but she kept quiet, shifting a little closer even, “but i’ll do whatever you want, angelface.”

It had just begun to rain and Mia had forgotten her umbrella. With a sigh she sat down and waited for it to stop or calm down. Normally she would take off her shoes and run through the rain not caring if she got soaked or not. She loved the rain. But today she had too many old books that would not fair well with this type of weather. 

Billie ducked inside quickly, hoping to escape the rain. She, of course, didn't even own an umbrella and was determined not to mess up her hair too much, but once she realized who was sitting in front of her, she had a half a mind to just turn right back around. Her urge to run was strong, but she really didn’t want to step back out into the rain, “Rain came on fast.” She muttered lamely, not daring to make eye contact with Mia.

            “  of course i’m busy , i’m always busy.  i’m a busy man. “ of course he wasn’t busy , he was dying of boredom actually.  however , he let himself be dragged , it wasn’t like his studies were important or anything —- not like his future depended on them.  billie had been interesting , in any other situation he would have left so quickly but —- he had nowhere to run.  “ depends how stupid you want to be —– “ 

billie rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at him- though there was a playful smile still on her face, “listen, i keep your life exciting- have i ever steered you wrong so far?” she paused, “never mind, i don’t wanna hear the answer to that.” she hurried down the hall, walking backwards so that she could talk to him, “not quite stupid enough to get us kicked out of school if we get caught, but almost- of course, we would never get caught. i’m a professional.”

– CLAIRE RAISES HER EYEBROWS AT BILLIE’S SUGGESTION. she likes the idea of a bet, however… “oh yeah?” she laughs. “what the hell would you have that i want? i’d win, so the prize matters.” 

billie shrugs, “well, hypothetically- since i would be the one winning, clearly- whatever you want.” she pauses for a moment. that’s a little too broad, “i mean, within reason. i have, like, three nickels as far as money goes so. not that. but uhhhh... maybe use of all my textbooks next semester? so that you don’t have to buy your own. or my partnership and loyalty if you ever need to battle it out with somebody. i’m still thinkin’- this has to be a collaborative effort.”

“hey, what would you say to a friendly bet?” billie smirked, looking over at the other girl, “like, whoever beats more people sparring this semester gets something? or the loser has to do something stupid- i don’t know, still workshopping it.”

fluttering her eyelashes in a coquettish fashion, maitê approached the other femme cautiously, taking her sweet time to close the gap between the pair. “evil? you don’t mean that now, do you, gostosa?” her thick accent practically dripped from the spoken words, prompting her to lick her lips experimentally whilst keeping her gaze on the woman. “you weren’t saying that last night or the night before that either.” 

billie’s hand fell to maitê’s waist, a laugh falling from her lips, “i think your skills in that arena make you even more villainous.” sleeping with your roommate would probably be considered a bad idea, but neither of them took it too seriously. it was fun. and there was nothing wrong with that, “you can be evil and good in bed- they aren't mutually exclusive, maitê.” there was a clever smile on her face and she looked at the other.

“hey, you busy right now? well, you better not be- because we’re hanging out.” billie grabbed his arm, dragging him away from whatever he had been doing- she was obviously more important. their friendship was a... unique one, but she genuinely liked francis and was glad that they were chill enough to actually be friends, “i’m in the mood to do something stupid, so you’re with me to either stop me or to make it more fun.”

     “ You are improving, at least, “  she offered timidly, knowing that her improving wasn’t as much as she should be.  At her question, Kass quickly shook her head.   “ You’re definitely NOT dumbass level, “   she assured her, a hint of a smile spreading on her lips despite herself.   “ It’s not easy, you know ?  It’s a different way of thinking, all zeros and ones.  The fact that you’re trying a class on it at all is frankly very impressive. “   The pride was evident in her tone, but Kass realized a second too late that she was probably looking like a heart-eyed fool.  Her teeth nipped at her bottom lip.   “ Try not to think of it so much as computers, right ?  More like a foreign language. “  

“I feel like I’m at dumbass level.” Billie grumbled, though she was thankful that Kass didn’t think so- or, at least, was saying so. She grinned at the other girl as she continued, ducking her head the slightest bit to try and hide her blush, “I don’t know about impressive, I’m just tryin’ to be well-rounded, ya know? I feel like a lot of people just see me as the ‘I’ll kick your ass, no questions asked’ sort of spy. And I don’t want to be just that.” She shrugged, it was a little vulnerable admitting it out loud, so she figured she’d play it off as casual, “I... I’m not great at foreign languages, but I do know more about that than this shit.” Billie gave Kass a warm smile, “Thanks for, uh, being willing to help me, by the way. I know I’m not the easiest student.” She rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly.

ophelia dramatically slumped down on the sofa in the dorm lounge, her head flopping off of the cushions and her feet up over the back. her hair hung off the edge haphazardly. “i thing we need a– what are they called?” she pulled a lolipop from her skirt pocket. “a vending machine. for sweets. i’m running out from the kilo bag i bought when i went into town last week.” 

billie quirked an eyebrow as ophelia landed on the couch, “i mean, you could always sneak into the kitchen and see what they have.” she shrugged, “that’s what i would do... if you’re really desperate, i may be able to spare some snacks.” her voice was low, not wanting anyone else to insert themselves into the conversation. billie had a sweet tooth herself and so she stocked up, stuffing a box of candy under her bed.

    “ Why don’t we take a break ? “   Kass offered to the girl beside her, pulling her laptop away so Billie no longer had to stare at the combination of ones and zeros on her screen.  They had been going at this for nearly forty minutes, and the brunette could tell she wasn’t really getting to the other girl yet.   Kass was afraid this would happen, that she wouldn’t be a very good teacher – but how could she say no to Billie Harrison ?   “ Are you feeling any better about the coding ? “   she chewed on her bottom lip, a little afraid of the answer. 

Billie leaned back in her chair, folding her arms with a sigh, “Ok, yeah.” She glanced at Kass as she asked the question, a shrug falling from her shoulders followed by another heavy sigh, “I mean... I feel better, I just don’t feel great.” She hated not being good at something. She liked to be the best and to be knowledgable, but when it came to coding she felt like a complete idiot, “I probably sound like a total dumbass tryin’ to understand this shit. Why can’t I get it?” Billie was frustrated. And a little embarrassed, failing so miserably in front of Kass was not what she had wanted, at all, but it was a little too late to worry about that now.
