Happiness.Naughtiness.Jolliness
Tumblr media
It's been about 8 months since I joined ASB and yeah it has been a wonderful journey. There is a lot of exam tension and some amount of college work load. But being in a Business school one has to go through all of these difficulties and once we overcome the struggle, we get placed in a good company from which we can set a career for ourselves. It's not only stress, we even have some gala time in the college. Times where we have college events, cultural and environmental etc. Some events will give us those memories which none of us can forget - UTSAV, PRAGATI, GOKULASHTAMI are some of the many events which has taken place. But there are those little things which happen every Saturday, our faculty member Mrs. Shobana Maam has been conducting a a walk called the Village Walk. Many of our students participate in the event by taking a walk to the nearby village and meeting kids from age group 5 to 17. A bunch of cheerful kids who are happy all the time, they are not those tablet or phone using kids but those who still play with toys and play hide and seek and run around with cycle tires. It gives us an excellent time to rewind on our childhood memories. They are lovable and very very kind in nature. One such Saturday was the Diwali celebration. And it was a routine to take the kids to the nearby Amrita school to celebrate the joy of Diwali. We had to walk to the nearby school and hence lines of kids were formed so as to teach safely. I wanted to capture those moments on to my camera. This picture in particular says a lot to the seeing it. We can see the different expressions of each and every kid. One is angry to have I get up early in the morning, many of them are happy to celebrate, many of them are restless, some of them are in a hurry to get to the school. These kids faces explain to us the innocence on life and how we would treat it. The day was fabulous, we had different programs conducted with our seniors performing on stage - singing, dancing etc. We ended the day by distributing gifts to all the kids. A picture which will always remind me of one of the best Diwali I have ever had in my life.

Kathakali
A major classical dance form of India, it has a “story play” genre of art. One distinguished by its elaborately colorful make-up, costumes and face masks wearing actor-dancers, who have traditionally been all males. In Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam we have the festival of Gokulashtami conducted every year. Where all the departments including - Engineering, Commerce fields compete with each other to receive the best float award.
Tumblr media
The preparation starts weeks before where all the members of the college decide on a concept . Team Festcom are the ones who conduct the whole event, they manage and assure that everything is taken care of. On the day before Gokulashtami no one gets to sleep, all get to work and make sure that the float, costumes, decorations are taken care of. The morning of the event starts, all the participants are lined up, the whole parade consists of various artists. Various forms of events happen inside a parade which include Selembatam, Puliatam, the music group, various dance forms, Kathakali dancers and of course the float.  All members ensure that they are busy with some role or the other, everyone participate in some events. Some of them have to hold cards, some have to push the float, some have to manage the parade.  I was one of the Photographers and i planned on covering the event. The morning was busy as i tried to cover by taking both pictures and videos. All forms of art were there and i loved to click them all, then arrived the much awaited Kathakali dancer played by my friend Suresh. He had to sit early in the morning to get his make up done along with the dress up.  He looked amazing and was perfect for the role, everyone started clicking his pictures and i hardly got a chance to even click. And for some reason my camera got jammed and wouldn't focus. Of course i was disappointed to have not got a click of him. After 20 minutes he was having a conversation with some students and started smiling. Now was the time, i thought and “click”. I got a very nice picture which you can see above. A click which will remind me of Gokulastami and even ASB, my college memories. And yeah, we did win a rolling trophy award for the event, which we are really proud of.

Bee Flee - (Dedicated to all the Photographers of this world)
Tumblr media
Photography, i had no clue about it. It was during my 10th standard that i took it as my hobby. I never really thought that one day i would become one, and roam around the world trying to get the best pictures into my cam. It was my 15th year birthday gift, a brand new Nikon D3200. My dad had bought it for me all the way from Dubai. I did click many pictures and it was no easy. One can always buy a camera, but clicking a picture is the difficult part. It takes lots of practice and dedication in doing so. People nowadays think the one who owns a DSLR, simply has to click and there tadaaa comes the picture. But not everybody with a camera can click magnificent pictures. There are 3 vital parts one has to check for mastering the Photography skills - Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed. Its the best combination of these 3 which gets the best picture. And to get the right combination, one takes months or even years. A lot of credit goes to the images and videos posted on blogs and even on social media. But do remember that behind every click, there is a hard working Photographer. The one who deserves all the appreciation for his efforts and dedication in getting a click. Wildlife photographers take as much as one year to get one perfect click. Portrait photographers take hours to get certain perfect clicks. Nature and free lance photographers even wait from season to season to get an abstract click. Some even risk their lives in wild forests, jungles, mountains, highways etc.  This click which you can see above is one of those first click which i took, in my beginners stage. I still am a practicing, to one day become a photographer. And i will put in all the hard-work and dedication in becoming a successful one. A post which i would like to dedicate to all those photographers in the world, the famous ones, the non famous ones, the ones who want to become photographers but are put down by family members and the ones who are struggling to shine in this field some day or the other.

Fenced Defence - (Dedicated to the Indian Army)
Tumblr media
NDA - National Defense Academy is situated in almost majority of the states in India. Pune in particular has a wide range of area situated in the central areas among people. The area is close by to the Camp side of Pune. Army families and their relatives stay in these areas, the training for the army men take place in these grounds, the quarters are occupied for temporary years and the families move to other states on a regular basis. I had a chance to visit these areas, having done my under graduation in Pune, i had 3 years to travel through these spots. We are always restricted to the gates and never given permission to enter. But with the help of some of my army friends in college, i had the chance to enter these areas. They are very well maintained and nothing much can be told as they have their privacy. With the given chances i took pictures of the beautiful scenery around the camps. The hillside and greenery were spread across acres of land and the roads were so long that one needs stamina to walk the distance. Bikes and cars are not allowed, so walking those roads is a road trip by itself. That day was no good, as from all of my written short blogs you must now clearly understand that luck has never been by my side - ever. I had a bruise on my leg and walking was no easy that day, and my usual friend the sun gave me his blessings by showering all the heat that he possibly could on that afternoon. My friend was an army brat and he was very much fit so i was the one taking pictures with all difficulties. When i saw the fences of one of the spots, dried leaves covered the electric fences, i definitely did click the pciture. “A good picture”, said my friend. Whats the whole point of the click he asked ? Why not click the greenery or the hillside ? The leaves even though dried up had completely wrapped itself to the fences protecting them from the surrounding, which reminded me of our Indian Army who - no matter what the condition is, whether its hot or cold, no matter what the situation is , no matter what is at stake, dedicate their lives to protect us and our country. They are the brave hearts of the nation who are ready to give their life to protect us, and we should be proud of them and respect them. A picture which i would dedicate for our army, not much which i can do, but everything counts.
A BIG SALUTE TO THE INDIAN ARMY -  JAI HIND !!!!!!

Vintage Message
Tumblr media
Long ago was it when we used to have those lengthy wires connected to the so called telephones. A device which all of used and still use for communication. Of course its no longer the big devices anymore, the smart phone generation has now taken over the world. Facebook, Instagram, IMO, Skype have now become our modes of communication. The hearing of others voice through the phone will soon be dead. I still remember when my grandmother used to dial the phone, “you have to keep your hand in the number and dial it all the way around”, she said. She used to teach me to use the telephone. It used to be a round dial wherein one had to keep the finger on the number and turn is 80 degree clockwise, for every digit. And hence a call would be made, neither was the voice clear enough. One could hear long buzz sounds and then with a fade sound you could hear “hello”. It used to depend on ones luck to get connected via phone to the receiver. Not every house had a Telephone back then, only a few people who could afford it had them.  Just a couple of days before i started writing this blog did we visit a shop, where all kinds of miniatures were sold, in one corner was a vintage telephone which i loved at first sight. I purchased it got it back home. I was very happy to have bought it. The very instance i went into my bedroom and got out my camera set up the miniature in place and clicked the picture. I did try many angles and directions. And this picture turned out to be the best one out of the many. This picture and the miniature toy brings me back with a lot of memories. A picture worth a click.

Zone - Headphone
“So Beats or Skullcandy”, asked the salesman, i was under a total dilemma as to which one should i select. Almost with the same price, varied by few dollars. The features were nearly equal. Which one do i choose was a great confusion as i was really broke that month and wanted to buy the best one, the headphone i choose would now last with me for at least a year or 2. It was the mid of June when Ashish was fighting against me in WWE in Playstation, people would hear our shouting every Friday's and get frustrated. “We very badly need headphones bhupesh”, said Ashish. And i knew it was high time i got one. The fight now shifted from the game to which headphone was the best. “ENOUGH” i shouted, Beats is the best i agree, but i like Skullcandy better for the bass. And hence the fight would end after an hour. We ended up with no decision as such, i would rather say that he won the argument. The day of my pocket money had come, that would sum up enough money for me to buy one among the two headphones. We rushed with the cash to the electronics store - Alghanim. Me and Ashish were excited and asked the salesman to show us both the headphones. Ashish knew that i never choose an electronic device within minutes and he started window shopping. “Sir which one would you choose ”, the salesman shouted at me again, oh im sorry i got lost in my thoughts, i will go with the Skullcandy. The Headphone was priced in the counter and i left after paying the money. Ashish was angry, i would not blame him. Once we reached home i unboxed the Headphone and tested it Amazing sound, worth every penny. Little did i know that the joy was just for a couple of hours more. I kept the headphones on my table and went to sleep. Drenched in water, the headphones were not working. A glass of water must have tripped over it and that was the last of the headphones. It didn't actually work and all i did was take a camera and click a nice picture of it. At least the headphones was worth a picture. Not a total loss after all.

Dried Ride
“Take out the left over furniture and load them up the trucks” shouted aunt Tina. Their family was now moving to Canada, most of the packing was done. The trucks were loaded and ready to leave. Tears of sorrow were shed by all of them, we had gone for a moral support but end up feeling sad ourselves. Noise of our neighbors during nights, the dinner get together, the Diwali celebrations will all be missed. An era had now come to an end, we were now just going to be social media friends, through Whatsapp, facebook, etc. The dining table was set at place and ready with hot tea, “come on all, lets have one last cup of tea before you guys leave” said my mom. We had a nice time together, sad inside but with a fake smile on the outside. “Say cheese”, i said, as i clicked one last picture of us all. We started our cars and headed to the airport, usually the road journey takes about an hour, but this time it felt like we were about to reach within 15 minutes.
Tumblr media
“Here you go”, said rahul my friend (tina aunties son), he handed me over with a plant, it was a Hibiscus, i asked him as to what i would do with this plant. He told me that the plant was about to dry up and has a day or 2 more. I was like why not throw it out rather than giving it to me . He told me that friends are like flowers, but when hardship comes many of them turn away, this flower after it dries will hang from a small shrunken root which shows true support. And he told me that he will always be there to support me even if it would be as small as a thread. Waving away goodbye was no easy, accepting the changes of life is a must and one cannot evade it. The very next day the flower shrunk completely and rolled up like a half leaf. It hung from a small thread just like rahul had told me. Hence the picture above where i captured the once beautiful purple flower which was now completely brown in color hanging from a single threat of root and still looking pretty as ever. A picture capturing the value of friendship.

Sun Undone
Tumblr media
Bitter start, when one of our friend hurts his leg and slips. Not a very big fall but just a couple of feet below the rocks. It was 4 in the evening and we were about to take a hike up the hills to get a perfect shot of the sun and we were in no such condition now. This might just delay the whole plan or might even cancel it. The bruise was pretty bad, and max just wouldn't give up and told us that he was ready for the hike no matter what. The sun was scorching hot and it gave both max and us a hard time to climb. I had been on this hike a couple of times before, but the heat was never like this. And Max’s condition was no good as well. Eventually we took a break, for a couple of minutes, because the sunset happens quiet quickly and missing it is out of the option. We had some snacks, some cold water and up we went. The reach was at an approx of 5:30 pm, the backpacks were kept down, tripods and camera taken out. Setting the cameras at different positions and fixing them to the tripods is the biggest task. The sun shine usually glares the camera lens, so choosing of an accurate position is difficult. To our surprise the sun showed no sign of it going down. The sun starts to set by 5:45 tops, but it was bright as day light. The sun was undone with us that day, it tested our patience, the hurry and rush to the point was a complete vain. It was one of those days which no one would like to have, to my surprise or rather disappointment i had forgotten to bring my lens scope which we use to avoid additional glare. By 6:20 the sunset had begun, over a 100 click sounds could be heard from the location. Not one of us would miss the moment. We were stuck to our cameras taking over 50 clicks every 2 minutes. For we get only 2 to 3 click which are perfect. The result of those clicks is the one above, the one click out of over 50 which is close to perfect. Luck didn't favor us that day but we came through all the odds to click our pictures. A moment and picture worth capturing.

Wizard Lizard
The lands of Zanzibar holds the most historic animals, who have somehow survived over a hundred years. Luckily we were there to see them and also got to touch many of them. This particular lizard was very famous in their lands. They could change their body color quiet instantly when they sense threat, they have a 180 degree eye view and also chase away enemies with the help of their neck flaps. I’m quiet sure you must have guessed it by now. It was 8 in the morning and our guide was quiet excited to take us to this place. My mom was quiet afraid of having to visit this place. The destination had arrived, we were welcomed with orange juice. There were multiple pit holes as big as well’s, “why are there so many pit holes there” i asked Mr. Otoya, the owner of the farm. He told “wait and find it out for yourself”. A touch and experience board was written on the board and i understood that we were go touch some animals for sure and was a little excited cause i love them. Crabs were the first one, followed by turtles, tortoise, salamander, some variety of snakes, baby crocodile, and so on. “The next creature is a tough one to catch hold of “ said Mr. Otoya, they called it the Wizard Lizard, the lizard which could not be sighted, it was very clever and could practically camouflage on any surface. The search for this lizard carried on for about half an hour and we still couldn't find it, it was none other than the Flapnecked Chameleon, they are very famous for their neck flap technique to drive away enemies. After a long search we were going to give up, when we saw a sudden shake in one of the leaves, there it was big and beautiful green in color and was magnificent. It came by itself and crawled onto our hands. He loved to get loved. We carried on petting him and he absolutely enjoyed it. I was definitely going to capture him, amazed to have taken the click, the picture showed me the texture of his skin and its beautiful eyes. Why was this the picture i chose, might be the question one might ask. Was it a coincidence that he had reveled himself at last or was he just playing hide and seek with us. No one would quiet understand. But this picture is a memory that we will always cherish.

Intruders Charged
Tumblr media
It was the third day of our safari in the craters of Ngorongoro, Africa. We were almost heading back to our tent after a long day. We had seen deer’s, wild boars, Zebras, Ostrich, and plenty of birds. And it was a good day being just the third. The big 5 are the main attractions of East Africa and our account didn't open, till this moment. The moment which none of us would ever forget. On the left of the pathway were a family of elephants and to our shock we were surprised to see them at 6 pm which was quite rare. Our driver/guide was surprised himself and told us that we were really lucky to find 1 of the big 5 and that too at such a late time. Elephants don’t usually walk through these people moving paths late in the evening. And among these gigantic mammals were 2 baby elephants wagging their tails and running behind their mom. Being so close to them gave us an amazing opportunity to capture them. Focus and angle was set and a shutter shot resulted in a beautiful picture. Happy ending ? I think not, the click was somehow heard by the elephant mom and the babies elder brother. We knew them as our guide was quite excellent in recognizing them and knew them through their size, and the way they stayed with each other. So the 2 elephants started covering the baby around and protecting it from us. A click was all we wanted, with no harm done. And then came the cavalry, the father and leader of the family seeing the intruders - “us”. He gives no second chance and charges towards us, doesn't actually seem like a charge in the picture, maybe we seemed easy targets. Our driver starts the engine and tries to pull back, to our amazement more elephants behind us. What to do ? I would say just one last click of what might be our very last moment. Would we get toppled over ? A stampede maybe ? No clue, we just prayed and let the rest to the one looking at us from the sky. All we were doing is hunting for a click and we were now hunted. The majestic creature started a run which shook the ground and our hearts started pumping with fear. Me and my sister decided to take the pic anyways,(click) and we all closed our eyes. We then hear a loud trumpet. “Wow the animal just walked away” said our driver/guide. Double the luck in just minutes took place in our lives. Happy to have survived that day got big smiles to our faces, we started laughing in relief. The tourists in the other jeep clapped and smiled at us with joy for we could have become a TV news headlines had the mammal not walked away.  Were we really lucky that day ?, did the elephant just give us another day to  live ? I really do not know. But we will never forget this and happy to have caught it on cam. Technical Aspect of the click  ISO - 600 Shutter speed - 1/250 Aperture - 12

Wild Monkeys of India
Tumblr media
Not long ago was it, when i was hiking though the terrains of Conoon, Ooty. The land was vast, filled with tea plantation and beautiful waterfalls. A relaxing place for one to enjoy and have a gala time. I was with my camera in the mountain tops trying to get a click of the beautiful scenery when suddenly i hear this noise of a girl shouting. I turn around to find a girl fighting with a small animal which was behind some bush. Her handbag was being snatched from her and she desperately tried to hang on to them. I rushed there to help the girl and yes she was soon free, with the help of some other gentlemen as well. And behind those bushes were these bunch of Wild Monkeys. I was amazed to see these guys so aggressive. But monkeys are smart and clever, they tend to hurt others only if they face threat. Monkeys are quiet common in India, so there was nothing really special to capture them on a cam. But here came this monkey who was very different, he came close and held my camera, didn't actually harm me in any such way and then ran off. Why was he so curious ? I do not know. But i had to click him because he found something in the camera, his face was completely pink and he had coffee brown eyes which were really beautiful. The moment i reached close to him, i took the camera and he just looked into my camera and then look away. Was it a sign by him asking me to click him ? I really do not know. But it was a moment i had to capture. And the Wild Monkey entered my camera with a single click. Hearing the click he ran away. A moment worth capturing.
