Note here how Jay is good to point out the flaws in what these kids believe about sexuality, and bisexual stigma. He calls them out on bisexual phobia towards men, and I adore this. Also, I think it’s great how they include Andrew’s issue with bisexuality is (without him realizing it) partly because he views women as objects, and while he would welcome it from a woman, he wouldn’t necessarily from a guy (as he was just heteroflexible), hence his discomfort. He doesn’t like being in the pursued role.

im posting a lot but like here are my two cents on the bi/pan controversy

they fucked up. like a lot. they couldve handled that SO much better. however big mouth provides and i bet in s4 they’ll correct themselves.

plus in the same episode of that, they went over how pan/bi men are often ignored or told they dont exist, and how bi/pan women are sexualized a lot. thats soo rare in media and im so thankful they added that. i wish the people bashing big mouth for every mistake they made looked at the things theyve handled well. they also accurately handled topics like depression and puberty in general.

so in summary, they messed up bad but i still have a lot of hope in this show. anyways stan poc bi adhd legend jay

I think the obvious solution to the bad handling of the bi/pan issue in Big Mouth is to have writers who are actually bi/pan. Nick Kroll constantly credits the women in the writer’s room for accurately depicting the female side of puberty, because of course he wouldn’t understand what that’s like. And guess what? All the female focused episodes are amazing! And relatable! So I think the same treatment should be given to bi and pan stories.

i’m so excited for season 3 of big mouth !! and i have a feeling matthew is going to be in a lot more than s1 & s2 which i’m so grateful for because he’s my favourite after jay. i also believe this because he was getting a lot more attention in the end of s2 / my furry valentine. also in s2 ep7 around 16:13 i think ?? his speech about being a lot more than just gay young and mean may have been foreshadowing that his character is about to appear a lot more frequently and he will be his own person & not reduced to the token sassy gay guy. even if that’s not the case, i really loved that speech i definitely did not cry lol. i also love him and jay soooo much they have my uwus.
