This blog is dedicated to the tragically beautiful bootlegs that are scattered throughout the land for all to enjoy. (But mostly from China and Dollar Stores!) This blog mostly consists of Pokemon, however, but that is sadly because there's not much of anything else. Other bootlegs besides video game ones are also welcome with open arms as long as it's horrendously quality. Even official things are welcome as long as they're "quality" enough.

i honestly wouldve submitted my bunch of fake cards that i got from chinatown in la if i hadnt gotten rid of them by secretly sliding them into a book cover from my school library
I just hope whoever found those cards in the book cover appreciates their true beauty.

This is a fun blog but is it possible to bring the font size up from teeny weeny eye-strain-o-vision? I got eye strain trying to read it.
Should be better now, this theme looks nice but it's a pain to edit, have to go in and manually edit the font sizes in the HTML :P

The combined terrifying factor of that bootleg Patrat is going to make the world implode.

Pokemon Bootlegs: Part 1.
I discovered these at my local Japan import shop and had to share them. I’m glad they were in bags, but that doesn’t make the possible lead poisoning from them any less scarier. To me, at least.

I spotted this back in 2012 at a con I went to. It was the first time I’d ever seen such a magnificently bootleggy bootleg in real life.

Glad to see you're updating again ^^
I've been making a better attempt of it lately, though there are more things I'd like to do with it but I've been busy with work so I haven't had a chance to work on it

This was one of the many abominations I mentioned a while ago.
I took loads more pictures of the atrocities, but the phone I took them on is a jerk and I can’t send the rest until it gets repaired. This was the one I managed to email.
In this picture you can see a mutilated deerling and some sort of horrific patrat that I got a much better photo of. I’ll send them ASAP once that phone gets repaired. I promise. I found a goldmine. For now, though, here is a glimpse into the array of horrors I uncovered. Thank heaven they were all in little baggies. I would’ve probably died the second I touched the paint on those things.

I bought this on Amazon, expecting a regular Banpresto Good Wishes Reshiram plush, and ended up getting.. Whatever THIS thing is. Not truly a bootleg from what I can tell, just a horribly defective official Reshiram plush, and oh man, did it give me and my friends a laugh.
If you wanna know for sure if it's bootleg, a lot of times the tag gives it away (bootleg plushes tend to have random stock art for the anime).
I think a lot of the plushes on Amazon and ebay are like...defective extras and rejects from the official batches though
Which ever this is it's a beauty.

There's a fairly neat store nearby me called Zen Garden that sells Japanese and/or online products in-store. Most of it is licensed anime and fandom stuff, but I found some hilariously bad bootleg pokemon figs. (Ones that, when I pointed them out to my father, seemingly made the shop owner quite dismayed.) I'll take pictures next time I go. Are you interested in them if I do? They were (thankfully) in little bags so I didn't die from paint toxins.
Haha go for it. If they even had the shop owner upset I can only imagine the level of "quality"

Have you ever noticed how nice the sculpts are on some bootleg figures but then the paint job wrecks it?
A lot of times the sculpt is made by making a mold of the official figure, so even if they use cheap molding methods they get the same basic shape as the official. The paint ends up disastrous a lot because it's done unevenly and usually rushed, plus a lot of hilarious instances where they don't even check to make sure they're using the right color. Or maybe they just run out of the right color and improvise. Either way it ends up interesting.
