TBHX and the disposability of man pt 4
Part 1 Nice's arc
Part 2 E-soul's arc
Part 3 Lucky Cyan's arc
(The irony of my title has just begun to dawn on me)
While I do wish the 2 episodes did give us more focus on Queen herself I do find the dynamic between Queen and Bowa to be really interesting and a major part to the 'disposability' theme that the show presents.
Bowa and Queen are two capable heroes who have achieved fantastic goals within their own right. However, society and those around them, such as Micky, keep pairing and diminishing their achievements. Bowa becoming X is seen as something that only happend because of Queen's speech and Queen getting the chance to take the X title is seen as Bowa giving it to her by the public and Micky planning exactly that for Bowa to give up the title to Queen.
Micky has made it clear that he simply views his employees as decorated chess pieces that play the game he tells them to play and this is exactly that. Yes Bowa fought for the spotlight and she earned the title of X fairly but the world isn't fair and she is going to be replaced forcibly by someone whose younger than her (interesting connotations)
While this interpretation may seem somewhat farfetched. There can be something to be said about the hero industry and the similarities it shares with the fashion industry. Heroes have to always keep in shape, be on top, be perfect, be young, and get replaced when they're old or when they lose. This isn't something new that TBHX hints at in Queen's arc but we get mentions of this in Nice's arc through lin ling's of own words " You're not going to be perfect forever as soon as you get old and ugly they'll find a new you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bowa and Queen two overachievers. Bowa is the youngest Commission agent, while Queen is the youngest and smartest university graduate. Queen and Bowa both have their own speeches and interviews being deemed as career aspiring and perfect. Both of them actively hold the belief to believe in yourself and to work hard to achieve your goals. Bowa the women that came from nothing. No power, no connections, just strength, stubbornness, and pure determination, getting her through what she deems necessary to achieve her goals. On the other hand, Queen a hero born to a father with connections, a power to make rules and an incredibly naturally talented individual yet she also worked hard to achieve her goals just to be beaten in a blink by a "nobody".
Tumblr media
Even with all the similarities that Bowa and Queen share, they are pitted against one another for an absolutely unsignificant reason : the title of X. A title and role that neither get but the public officially views and actively pushes the narrative that Queen has replaced Bowa driving Bowa to insanity for a way for her to get back and reach for the role that was once rightfully hers. In this context, the title they are now fighting for isn't truly the title of X, but it is the title of the female hero. Who can be the female hero, the spot that society wants filled and only wants one person to be THE female hero, the one who can have it all in an industry that lacks diversity.
This ultimately causes a huge conflict between Bowa and Queen. Bowa who wants to cling and hold the title naturally for as along as she can considering the fact that she spent her whole life trying to achieve the perfect mix of perfection by being 50/50 power and beauty. Due to this, Bowa easily consumes the narrative that society and the industry itself have been spewing out and plans to eliminate the next threat even though at this point in time Queen doesn't have the title of X (but a man does) and Queen is only in the top 10. Public perception and view alongside Bowa's own research send her into her own downward spiral, leading her to the only solution she deems viable : kill your 'replacement.'
Bowa and Yang cheng parallels, I see!
Tumblr media
Alongside all of this, Bowa's abilities have constantly been undermined by Micky, who literally tells her that the only reason she is a hero is because he chose her and he invested in her and now its time for him to invest into someone else : Queen.
Essentially, the people have been waiting to see someone else ever since Bowa managed to become the number one hero, and when the queen doesn't live up to that expectation, they immediately find a way to continue the cycle by trying to pit cyan and Queen against one another with the only reason a fight like that not occurring is due to Queen actively taking actions for Cyan to clear her name and for her to personally support cyan instead. Even their own public relation cyan and Queen aren't afraid to show that they are close.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Queen and Bowa's relationship focuses on dispoabaility through the lens of who can be THE female hero, it also focuses on the idea of disposbaility through nepotism.
While the public isn't aware of it, Bowa becomes aware that Queen has connections, and she has abilities that Bowa lacks and that's one of the reasons why she gets all the support to become X while Bowa has to fight and gain connections herself. This is one of the things that drives Bowa to try to kill Queen, to fully eliminate the threat that Queen poses through her connections because at the end of the day, Bowa is a self built chess piece while Queen was given the chess board in the first place.
Within an already such a competitive industry, nepotism is actively looked down upon due to the unfair advantages it gives individuals and the reputation it has for robbing those more competent of the role they deserve and this is an aspect of Queen and Bowa's story.

Tbhx's biggest mystery:O
A theory I have had is that the unknown and unlabeled individual dressed in all black is O.
Someone who seems to be the female opposite of X with the analysis board describing their all of their stats to be super and for them to have almost no information on the individual just like X.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, if this is true it does make me wonder on what type of relationship X and O have and if O is even a hero or if she is directly related to fear while X is directly related to trust. Both want to maybe destory the system?

WRECK!!! WRECK please Li haolin show us more wreck!!!
I find it funny that X hates Uncle Rock, but then again, that man was his boss at one point in time when he was still working at FOMO, and Uncle Rock is just insane so I wouldn't be suprised if X knows what going on with Rock.
However, this does make me wonder what X's relationship with Nine and wreck? X having nine who is labeled the rebellious hero as an unconfirmed ally is so interesting and just makes me want to know what X is really doing behind the scenes. Does he plan to destory the system like queen and change it? Or is it the complete opposite? I think it fits if he does want to change the system considering just how much of an outlier X is and how he has constantly navigated and functioned outside of the system.

There's something so cruel in Bowa 'dying' and being pierced again in the same place that she has her bullet scar in.
Trying your best, putting all that effort just to be striked right where people would deem it to be your weak point. Everything about Bowa's arc is so cruel.

Here's some info for Rewritten Sparks Episodes 0-10!
Hi @anartisicandautisticstararcher 馃憢
Thanks for sending me this!
Some thoughts I have had while reading this were :
Izuku starting to get bullied in the city is such a cool touch especially when you realise that it was the countryside that was most accepting of those that looked human which wouldn't be unlikely to claim them to be more pro quirkless than anything else
I also find you making katsuki also aware of the previous timeline and trying to change ways as such a cool point. I wonder if you're planning on a dramatic reveal and if we will get a katsuki pov to this
MORE NEMURI!!! please I absolutely adore her and I wonder who the person you mentioned is? Is it oboro? Or someone else? Either way I love that a whole chapter is essentially centred around her
Also love the little changes to the timeline and the ofa conflict being much sooner than anything else
MONOMA!!! MONOMA AND NEMURI MY BELOVEDS. I love the fact that we are getting more of them as characters
I wonder does the hpsc know about the yokai's. Do they treat them like a type of villain? Is there a way to attack or contain them? All of this reminds me of Aizawa's own UA teacher who had the power to talk to ghosts

Hi bibibbon!!! I'm having doubts about something in my rewrite, I'm not a fan of the canon schools, so I'm creating new schools to replace them, but at the same time I want the original characters to have a certain importance, but not to the point of harming the participation of the canon characters (Izuku is the protagonist and Izusquard are the deutagonists), I'm also having difficulty making them fit into the rewrite. What can I do?
Hi @lorddog45 馃憢
Well, I suppose it depends on what type of OCs you're introducing and how you are going to change the schools in the first place.
I think you should keep the structure of the schools somewhat similar and establish the hero students role within it while having them interact more with your oc's and even introduce conflict or friendships with the izusquad and your oc's. You can also use the OCs as civillains and have them actively play a role in the story based on their reaction to certain events or to the school system.
I am not sure how much you're willing to show of their school life but you can also even add them to slice of life events and have the izusquad interact with various characters. For example, izuku can have friends outside of the izusquad so can tenya, ochako and the others.

From the Director's Q&A, how the Hero Tower works.
The top 100 heroes get to live there. Lowest rank at the bottom, highest at the top. The top ten heroes get an entire floor to themselves. In the center of the tower is an express elevator just for them. The two orange highlighted areas are 'training rooms'. The green is living accommodations, the image on the right is a cross-section. It's three rooms per floor. There's three ordinary elevators for them. 1 lobby+30 ordinary floors+2 'training' floors+10 luxury floors+the roof. Top left is luxury elevator, middle left is normal elevator, bottom image is lobby.
Plus some images of it from the show

If you look carefully, the top ten floors are literally numbered 1-10 on the outside

So, given that Luo survived, what do you think will happen with him next? Obviously, I expect that Cyan will still be the more pivotal character of the two, but it's fun to imagine what happens after they reunited. For one, I'm convinced that Cyan would bring Luo back to DOS with her insisting she'd be allowed to live there cause ain't no way she's leaving his side again. I also imagine the two will be spending their time together working on/playing music together again. Though do you thing Luo would still try to become a hero?
Hi @pedanticat 馃憢
I do believe that cyan definitely took lou back and that he most likely is living with her in the hero tower. I think that the only reason that lou would be allowed to come back and live with cyan is due to Micky wanting to avoid any conflict that my stir up lucky cyan's reputation and any conflict with Lucky cyan herself especially since cyan might already be growing skeptical of DOS and how they told her that Lou died when he was still alive.
With lou being able to live with cyan, i do believe that she would drag him to meet the johnnies and Queen. I would personally love to see an interaction between lou and Queen, especially since he was moved by her graduation speech and has the same desire as her to change the world and become a hero.
Also, I think he and Cyan would just have a fun time showering big Johnny with love, and the 4 of them would all hang out in the johnnies floor (I want some fluff and the dos trio has my full heart)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do think that lou still has a desire to become a hero, especially because he called Lucky cyan out, reminding her that she said that she never wanted to be a hero. I also think that with the situation in the orphanage, how he sees and describes all the people as "abandoned" and how he seemed to act in what he believed was true justice him still wanting to be a hero is the most plausible direction for his character.
Tumblr media
However, just because he wants to be a hero doesn't mean that he can become one. Yes, at the point we last see lou, he seems to have gained more power and fully embraces himself as a "jinx" and "calamity." His fighting ability seems to be quite strong, strong enough to keep up with Lucky cyan who is now a hero, and he seemed to be able to handle the dean an episode before (yes he struggled) but my point is that he has gained more power and has some good fighting skills that can be improved by a little more guidance.
While all of these are factors that can help Lou in becoming a hero, there are bigger losses that DOS won't invest in when it comes to making Lou a hero.
Lou is hard to market as a hero.
Due to Lou's power being misfortune and calamity, marketing Lou as a hero would be difficult for DOS especially because he doesn't fit what they're already going for which is bright, vibrant and modern heroes who appeal to the current trend. Instead, Lou fits the MG style (look wise I can see him being marketed similarly to dragon boy) type of heroes and while you can argue that if he really wanted he could just become a hero through them I don't think Micky would allow it especially since episode 11 made a huge point to to tell us that there has been a long standing rivaraly between DOS and MG.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lou and Cyan most likely will want to be a hero duo together, which won't happen/can cause an interesting conflict between them and DOS.
I can see lou and Cyan wanting to and purposing that they should be a hero duo and that being firmly cut down by Micky due to DOS's newly established image of being the biggest hero agency to contract independent female heroes and by making lou and cyan a pair they end up losing that image of cyan. Micky most likely will reject the idea due to him not wanting to risk another hero duo scandal and how there can easily conflict can be created between hero duos/groups in general so it's much more safer to stray away from that route.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another alternative I see for lou and Cyan is if micky tries to do something similar to what Mr. shang did by making cyan the hero and lou her nemesis. This is plausible, especially since episode 10 did confirm that there might be a rivaraly brewing between treeman and DOS since it was revealed that Mr. shang was looking into fear. There's also the fact that wrice and lou and cyan share a lot of paralells however, I do think that they wouldn't take up this offer and if they did it wouldn't last as long as wreck and nice's did.

Tbhx and the disposability of man pt3
Here is part 1 aka lin Ling's arc
Part 2 aka yang cheng's arc
Lucky Cyan's arc both explores the disposability of her true self for a polished image and what it's like to be moulded into a product so your guardian can live their dreams through you.
This starts when Ms. Zhao starts to use cyan for her own benefit, although a few moments back, she charges in trying to stop the kids from 'bullying' her as she puts it. The word spreads among the staff of the orphanage and little by little cyan begins to be seen as just a puppet for good luck. Get cyan to do this for the best possible outcome or get her to choose something or bless something for you. It doesn't matter that she is a child, an orphan who is directly under your care she is a good luck charm that is bound to guarantee the best possible outcome. Through this, cyan begins to lose the little humanity she was allowed in the first place and begins to be just viewed as a commodity that must serve the people who believe in her.
The orphanage's care comes at price, and this is the price forced onto cyan. A cruel price indeed that further robs her of her sense of self.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the Dean tries to call Ms zhao out for this and tries to deem himself as above this type of behaviour he quickly goes back on his words and also exploits cyan for his own personal gain, although his exploitation I would argue is way more sinister than Ms Zhao's since he is under the belief that this is something that benefits both him and cyan when in reality that's far from the truth.
Again, even with the Dean, the message of the orphanage's care comes at price, and a price that strips cyan of who she is and who she wants to be is repeated.
Tumblr media
While Ms. zhao is criticised for using cyan as a money tree, the dean goes a step further and tries to live his life through cyan controlling every aspect of her that he possibly can. Episode 9 reveals that the reason the orphanage was created in the first place is to nurture heroes, and the dean picks cyan as his victim. A girl granted an immeasurable value of luck can both allow him to live his dream of being a hero, but she can make as much money as he desires.
He builds the image of the sacred maiden for her laying brick by brick, from building a whole church, selling merchandise, advertising the whole thing and even restricting her from what normal kids her age can do. Cyan will spend the whole day practising, she will almost always be seen wearing her maiden outfit, she will cover her hair, authentic parts of herself so she can live up to an indescribable image.
This further dehumanises cyan. If she wasn't already dehumanised by the staff in the orphanage, she is now fully dehumanised by her own peers who watch their step and themselves whenever she is around. This isolates her from everyone and everything, and the only one that manages to break that is lou.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even though cyan does defeat the Dean and escapes his grasp, she isn't really free in the end, considering her new predicament with Micky and DOS.
Micky doesn't try to hide it in any means. He quite literally tells cyan if she likes her new character, taking the time to explain that the only reason they even ditched the sacred maiden image is not for cyan's sake or for her wants but because the public has been shifting and wanting more independent female heroes and that this new image only exists because of that purpose. Again, cyan is only here to fulfil a role. When the people wanted a maiden of luck, they got the maiden of luck, and now when the people want an independent loud and vibrant hero they will get exactly that not because she is in control but because that's what society wants. Again, under DOS she is simply viewed as a commodity however, she does now have people that care for who cyan is as a person and while that might not be enough its something in the grand scheme of things. In the grand scheme of things, at least there will be some who know who cyan really is and not just a made-up character wearing a costume and acting to please the masses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The show does also go out of its way to make it clear that cyan doesn't want to be a hero. Her becoming a hero was for lou and now that she has found him and that he is safe I wonder if there will be any season 2 conflict with her wanting to be a musician more than her fully wanting to be a hero and having to live up to another character forced upon her by another man who is supposed to care for her.
There's a tragedy in how the things that cyan so heavily loves and finds freedom in such as music, rollerskating and her own clothing are twisted into things that trap her in her role whether that be by removing these things or changing them. If her arc had a darker tone, I can definitely see her paralleling nice a lot more in the way that the things they love are twisted into making her obey or having coperations suck the life and joy out of them.

X what post apocalyptic room do you live in?
Honestly, Micky had a valid as hell reaction.
The true question should be can heroes who live in the hero tower ever get a normal room that's actually authentic to them? Nice's room looks so empty and then you have Firm man who also had a similar issue with having to sleep strapped into a bed. Also, can't forget to mention how lifeless OG E-soul's room is as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Little johnnies room is the only one that's true to his age!
Plus we don't even get to fully see Queen's room.

Not many are talking about the ending of this episode with Bowa and honestly, I think we might be getting to see more of fear and the spotlight organisation in next weeks episode.
Am I the only one who noticed some purple particles floating around Bowa? I am not sure if it's her power, but if it isn't, it looks awfully similar to Lucky cyan's orphanage which I am assuming is heavily connected to fear as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, what's up with this monster thing? Is he an experimented human from one of the labs that was mentioned earlier in the series? I do think that maybe they experimented with fear and he escaped. This most likely will link into other heroes stories such as ghsotblade and dragon boy.

The Johnnies, Queen and lucky cyan friendship!!! I love to see how heroes in the same company interact.
Honestly, this does make me wonder about E-soul, ghostblade and dragon boy's relationship. They all seem to carry the same air/vibe around them so I don't feel like they would break into fights over anything but I don't think they would be as wholesome as the DOS trio.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also I keep forgetting that little Johnny is a year older than Queen. I am sorry that boy doesn't look like it all. He looks like cyan's age and queen looks like their older sister.
