Endlessly obsessed with the move of having Vulcans be Vulcan while also having a heat cycle so intense they can actually die from it. Imagine going to the omegaverse planet and everyone's just like. We don't talk about that.

It is very easy to pretend antisemitism isn't a real problem/is a distraction, if you just accuse every Jew who points out antisemitism of making stuff up to silence people. Just like it's very easy to pretend the same thing about, say, transphobia. Rhetorically speaking, dismissing accusations of antisemitism on the basis that "the jews are weaponizing it to silence us!" isn't that distinct from Republicans fearmongering about how in California you'll get arrested for calling someone the wrong pronoun
It is also very easy to ignore that that's exactly what this rhetoric is and exactly what it's for, if you just admonish anyone who points this out for glossing over the "fact" that "Jews really are weaponizing antisemitism to silence us!"

I read once that this rise of antisemitism is gentiles finally getting their revenge for being "forced" to (pretend) to care about Jews (via "caring" about the holocaust) for the past half century and the more I see the more I think that individual was right

Thank you for that fine forensic analysis, Mr. Bodine. Of course the experience of it was... Somewhat different.

Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater in TITANIC (1997)
There was this myth, I think, that was created by the media that the films entire success was based on 14-year-old girls going back to see it over and over again because they were in love with Leo. Certainly, that was a factor. But I also think they missed a critical point, which is teenage girls love the movie because it was about them. And they related to Rose. — James Cameron (Director)
So when I decided to write the book on it and I went to see the movie again, there were two teenage girls sitting behind me and they were weeping. And I said, "How often have you seen this film?" And they said, "Oh maybe six or seven times." And I said, "Why do you love this film so much that you keep seeing it?" They said the payoff in the movie for them was seeing those photographs at the end. It was seeing this old woman who had been the young woman and that she had lived a rich and really full life. And that she had survived all these troubles and had made something of herself. And that was so inspiring.
— David Lubin (Author of BFI Modern Classics: "Titanic")
