@ the last pic I know it's beating a decomposed horse to take jabs at season 4, but I haven't seen anyone discuss how bad five's look was... His "Jerome" disguise actually fit him so much better

Five hargreeves is such a painful character to love because no matter the funny scenes, the badass fights and the cute fanart, you know that at his core his story is about always being unable to save those he loves. no amount of cute fanart can cover the fact that he spent his entire life alone and now, standing side by side with his siblings, nothing has changed. no matter how you obsess over him or write fics about him or watch the show over and over, that fact is never going to change. his character, at the center, is about loneliness and the lengths one will go through to avoid it---only thing is, he never truly succeeds.

five is a character who spends his entire life reaching for those around him and always being an inch short, a minute too late, and no one ever sees his hand, turned away in those moments and unwilling to see the desperation on his face when he fails to grab them in time

ironic, for a character who is so suited to miraculous saves. who preserves the lives of his siblings so often, who appears to succeed in his goal, who's power in anyone's hands would be a tool of re-dos, a way to erase mistakes.

for a man who harnesses time to his will, its never on his side

THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY 3.08 — "Wedding at the End of the World"

Started as a suit practise but (as always) Five made his way in! It then turned into my long-pondered pre-s4 fix-it AU (also redesigned Fives s3 hair bc it was gross <3)

I thought it was stupid and a bit OOC that Five worked for the CIA- and what was he doing during that 5 year time skip??? So many questions I hope to answer!

In my Gun-For-Hire AU- Five, feeling lost and aimless, returned to his gun-for-hire life, cutting off most contact with his family in the process (out of fear of getting them hurt). He quickly became a globally known assassin, renowned for his efficient and brutal work. Is he happy? Of course not! But in a perfect world s4 put him on the right path back to his family and stepping away from his past forever.

Lmk if anyone has a vague interest in me continuing this! May make an extended series
