youre monogamous? oh… it’s ethical, right? ethical monogamy? okay good for you! i mean pretty much every monogamous couple i’ve met didn’t work out but maybe you guys will beat the odds! haha. so is it a sex thing? you guys have sex with- just each other? huh. how does that work? i could never do monogamy, i’m too jealous, i’d worry my partner would leave me for someone else instead of dating us both… how do you deal with the jealousy? is it hard? like, how hard? extremely? do you think you’ll break up? i mean in the long run these things rarely work out,

It’s called lying lol.
is there a specific term for that incredibly disingenuous thing people do where when they're knowingly in the wrong instead of sincerely apologizing they just vaguely reference "getting doxxed" or an undisclosed amount of "death threats" received to shift the window of the conversation away from the actual bad thing they did and towards the (very often made up of we're being completely honest) "overreaction"

not only do i think people should not have to specify that their non-monogamy is ethical, some of yall need to come to grips with the fact that ur monogomy is non-ethical

I so agree that there is a need for the pressure to produce becoming hollow aspiration to be undercut. I appreciate that this mindset freed a lot of people to prioritize the Good Work and the struggles they wish to pursue. Lately it just feels like a let them eat cake fakeout (a cake out?).
For context- My older brother literally had nightmares about fucking up at his work because he had to provide for me and my education. He still has dreams about motor oil quicksand and getting crushed by cars at the shop. I’m glad other people don’t dream of labour.
"I don't dream of labor" is truly the most unbearable and infuriating thing that the online pop leftism sphere has ever produced

adding slightly off topic but 'i don't dream of labor' has been conflated with 'i don't want to put in the effort' to a concerning degree in leftist spaces imho

Clarifying because in one respect all LGBT suicide should be considered a foreseeable outcome of government intervention. But also Turing did not commit suicide no matter how convenient it is for the schtick, the apple thing is morbid and infantilising, and I’m sick of seeing it.
Wishing you a very “Alan Turing didn’t commit suicide” month
It’s much closer to the truth to say Turing was killed by the British government! Don’t make him your tragic little queer without a fucking reason for it. Don’t be like Benedict Cumberbatch!

Fr the young don't know how to change things properly: from the inside! Then maybe they'd get valuable perspective such as: monarchies are good actually! Danish dogs are false! King's word is law!

please talk to me about last boy on earth i will send you a copy to read jfc
What I liked about last boy on earth (the first new novel I’ve read in a minute that’s not for class):
It’s very gay, beginning to end, and when I thought it was as gay as it was ever going to get it got gayer. It is a gay book. Queer is the norm and nobody has to hide or fight it.
Sex is a path to selfhood and destiny, not a distraction or embellishment like it is in other fantasy books. The ‘significant’ sex is not reserved for like central couples (inasmuch as there are couples bc this is not a monogamous book) Everyone is having onscreen and transformative sex.
Something I REALLY liked- A central character uses they/them pronouns and is never misgendered despite presenting (I would say) pretty masc in a setting which is full of guys. There was a part where someone meets Dimitri for the first time and their pronouns were deftly incorporated without the new acquaintance defaulting to he/him, which everyone else seems to use. It was a moment of care which really stood out for me! Also they are hot and desired. And autistic?! They stim on page!
The story is really secondary to the characters, their conversations, interactions and memories. Nonetheless there are stakes because of how well everyone is written. Loss of memory/regaining recall is a trope I struggle to enjoy but I found it affecting and cathartic, especially with Adrian and Julian’s story!
The world is so real and interesting. I don’t know everything about it because the characters don’t and that was entrancing vs info dump I find in fantasy books.
I cannot overstate this book is not monogamous, and the emotional depth given to the friendships and romances was really beautiful. I was really worried it was going to end with everyone being paired off with each other but it truly does not end that way at all.
There’s a reference to Dr Zhivago that made me snort.
