how non-writers think writing works: creating a detailed outline and plan, writing each section carefully and weaving in all the different story threads like a master creator, expertly creating a masterpiece with care and precision
how writing actually works: daydreaming that one scene, creating a half-formed plot in a daze all around it, swearing at characters that don't magic themselves into existence, becoming absolutely obsessed with the story for a solid week, it becomes your entire life, you sit down open a blank word document and write approximately two and a half chapters, lose interest, daydream an entirely new idea for a new story, rinse and repeat

it sucks that the backrooms and by extent liminal spaces turned out the way they did in popular culture. i love dreamy places not because they're full of Scary Screatures or whatever but because they're fun and interesting and cool and a perfect place for a girl like me to lay her eggs

Ignore it.
Lady wiped some sweat from her head as she used her strength to stab the ground with her shovel. She had been doing this all day, and thankfully, she was almost done.
Something had been burying food in the ground near her house. Usually, she wouldn't care about someone messing with her property. Mostly because the only people who were brave enough to do that stuff--to even get near her house--were her friends/business partners. She knew it couldn't be them considering Ruth was busy on a vacation, lord knows the girl needs it. And Bit was taking a day in.
She growled a bit as she struggled to get the last bits of meat out of the ground. Her shovel had hit something solid and decided it wasn't going to budge. She decided to just throw the shovel away and dig through the ground with her hands.
It took a few minutes, but she was able to brute force whatever was in there out. She lifted it out of the ground and inspected it closely. It had brown on it, but she could tell that there was white underneath.
It was a bone. She knew it was a bone because she had to...deal with people sometimes. Don't blame her, she had a company to take care of.
It was weird, though. She knew she hadn't done anything bad...recently. Even if she did, she did it in the forest.
She tossed the bone away, near the bags of meat she had already dug up. Thankfully, it wasn't rotten, so she didn't have to clutch her nose the entire time. But that also meant it was fresh, or semi-fresh, which meant something had done this recently.
She decided to think about that later, for now, she needed to get rid of the meat. With a quick blast of one of her Railguns, it was gone.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sound of the water pouring down did little to distract Lady from her thoughts. She was questioning who would even try to do something to her property. She wasn't a fool to the reputation she had among other Robloxians, but what made it weirder was that she lived in the woods.
A growl forced its way out of her throat, her frustration reaching high levels. She took a few breaths to calm down and try and ignore the questions she had, then stepped into her shower. The water was still freezing cold, but she felt that it built character.
She glanced down and noticed some of the dirt that washed off of her leaving stains on the floor of her shower. 'That's gonna be a pain in the ass later.'
She stepped out of the shower and dried her fur, trying to get all the water she could out of it. Satisfied at how dried she was, she put the towel back and went to go grab something to eat from her kitchen.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lady sat on her couch munching on some chips. It wasn't the healthiest meal, or the most filling, but she didn't particularly feel like making anything right now.
She was in the middle of chewing when she felt off. She narrowed her eyes at nothing and flicked her ears slightly. "Someone's in my woods." She growled out, angry at whoever the trespasser was.
She plopped the bag down onto the ground and grabbed her Railgun, readying it to shoot. She wasn't too worried about having to deal with actually killing someone, considering that where she lived was a respawn zone.
She busted open the door to her house and scanned the border of the forest. She didn't see anyone there, but she knew that someone was there, waiting, watching. She briefly considering grabbing a flashlight, since the sun was setting, but she wasn't planning on being outside for long.
"Come out here rIGHT nOW, YOU Rat!" Her voice cracked as she yelled, something that happened all the time, but still annoyed her. Nothing moved, she didn't hear anything.
Then, she saw it. Well, she didn't exactly see it. But she saw its eyes. They were glowing, shining. It purposely kept out of view, sitting just outside of the disappearing light.
"I'm TaLKING TO yOU!" She pointed the Railgun in the general direction of whatever was in her woods, the gun glowing bright green in anticipation for her shot.
Then, as the sun finally set, and the last bits of light were gone, it stepped out. It took a small, small step. A skinny, pale foot took a shaky step out of the forest, but it didn't seem scared or even unbalanced. It seemed...excited.
Lady slammed the door as hard as she could and clutched the Railgun harder. She rushed over to her windows and double-checked that they were locked, then put the curtains over them. She ran around her house making sure any potential entrances were either blocked or locked. Then, she sat on her couch and turned on her tv, putting on a random video essay and grabbing her chips again.
She sat her Railgun right next to her, for easy access, and ignored everything. So what if something was tapping and banging on her window, whispering to her that it was going to get in eventually? Or scratching and throwing itself against her door, screeching loudly? That wasn't her problem.
She had learned some things in her time owning a company, and even more stuff living where she did. One of those was that sometimes, it was better to ignore things. Especially ones that want to be noticed.

people are clowning on this guy on reddit but uhhh let's pause for a minute and ask...so what happens if someone has a skin condition? what if part of their face has been burned? what if they're missing their eyes? and so what if they just have a fuckton of tattoos? recognition algorithms are aligned with the most ""average"" / ""normal"" features which means any deviation gets denied access to shit we didnt need age verification for 1 year ago. i dont care if it's a choice versus not, dont care if it's accessing porn or wikipedia, this needs to stop
