“Well, the other me has found us out,” E hummed as he pulled at the wires he’d given Autos. “He seems quite protective of you, Autos- I wonder why…?”

Autos twitched, his wings fluffing up in a defensive motion. He couldn’t pull away and it hurt.

“Why, for all those glasses can do,” E laughed as he twisted the wires, watching as Autos flinched in pain, “they certainly didn’t protect you from me.”

We “hid” it for about a year, truthfully. My friends knew, and his did as well, but we were oblivious to each other’s antics.

They were a gift from a dear friend, I simply don’t want to lose them is all. I’m very forgetful if it’s not right next to me!

“We’re versions of each other but unlike you I have control of my life. I don’t need your glasses to tell me what fate I’ll earn because I carved it on my own.” He brushed his hand along Autos’ chin as the other glared at him, it was the only act of defiance he could perform. “You tried to do that, and you failed! Oh, it’s glorious. Let’s face it, Autos- you can pretend you aren’t a puppet anymore but that’s all you’ll ever be. Never your own person, constantly fighting to regain control of your life- though that would imply you ever had control of it in the first place…”
