Hey I saw your post about Hephaestus in Hades 2 and your thoughts on depections of disability in games. I was curious: have you played Horizon Forbidden West? If so, what are your thoughts on Kotallo and his character arc?

Hey! Thank you a lot for this ask - whilst the Horizon games have been on my radar for a hot minute I haven't gotten round to them yet (funny thing to say about games that are now a few years old but for context I've only had non-nintendo modern hardware for about a year 😭 there's a lot of cool new-to-me games to play, hahaha) and I'll readily admit I didn't even know there was an ally in the game who was an amputee!

I'll definitely have to bump those games up the list because I'm interested to see how they handle him, but a brief Google search definitely has me intrigued - I know I specifically disparaged the trend of just slapping a robotic prosthetic on a character in a sci-fi setting as part of a design quirk and nothing more, but the fact he appears to be presented as undoubtedly an amputee who is in fact disabled and who procures a prosthetic some way into the game is already a good start. Either way thank you ever so much for this, I definitely know what I'm playing next!
