It's like a part of me help. I'll just start editing some things and like basically restart it. I mean, y'all probably don't care but anyways! 😝 I will rewrite some stuff and update my blog, so yeah def a new start. Just with the same dumb admin, that's all ♡

Writing isn't the hobby. Being insane about little fake people is the hobby. Writing is just the only outlet i have for that

Don't ever lie to me
Max Mitchell's mom died when she was a teenager. She thought her world would end but it didn't. At 30 years old Max Mitchell's mom shows up at her door. The world is much more confusing than she ever could've thought.
tw/cw: Talks of death
At 16 years old, Max Mitchell lost her mom. "Dad? What's wrong?" A young Max asked her dad. The home phone had rung, which never happens. Max had thought it was just for decoration until now.
"That--That was the hospital. Your mom was in an accident." George could hardly look her in the eyes.
Max didn't want to let any negative thoughts through, "Is she okay? Can we--can we go see her?" George finally looked up, his eyes shining with unshed tears and Max knew. She pulled him into a hug. Max Mitchell's mom died when she was a teenager. She thought her world would end but it didn't. At 30 years old Max Mitchell's mom shows up at her door. The world is much more confusing than she ever could've thought.
Max, George, and Ricky had finally cracked Edwards' puzzle but something wasn't right. Max wanted to be with Ellis. They had finally gotten it together and stopped dancing around each other and she was expected to leave him just like that? She couldn't. Her dad saw this and knew he had to finally let her go.
Max had grabbed her stuff and opened the door when she thought she had been transferred back in time. Standing in front of her was her mother, looking a little older but mostly the same as the last time she saw her. She can't even begin to try to rationalize or think of what could be happening. Either she's losing her mind or almost half of her life has been a lie. "Mom?" Max said in disbelief. All of her emotions rushed at once. Her mother (?) was about to speak when Max quickly brushed past her and out of the door. She could not deal with this right now.
Max pulled out her phone and called Ellis. "Ellis? Have you left yet?"
"No, Max. I was about to but--Look if this is too much for you, you don't have to co-"
"Ellis, I'm on my way, okay? Don't leave me." Her voice seemed to break at the end but Ellis assumed he was imagining it. He told her he wouldn't, obviously he wouldn't. He tried to push past it as he waited but he couldn't help but feel some level of concern.
Max finally got to Ellis' boat and jumped into his arms, "Woah, Max are you okay? What's going on?" Max shook her head, "I'm fine. I'm just glad you didn't leave without me, sorry I kept you waiting I was just tying up some stuff with my dad."
Ellis looked her deep in the eyes, something was clearly wrong but he didn't want to press the issue too much, "You know I'd wait for you as long as you needed." He wanted her to know that he really meant that, far beyond this trip but for the rest of his life if he was able.
Max kissed him, trying to fit all the love she felt for him in that one kiss. "Come on, I want to ride on the bow and bask in the sun!" She said, putting her bag down. Ellis rolled his eyes playfully, "You know you can't do that, Max." They both laughed and Ellis couldn't be more happy, in this moment he forgot about his concern.
Max had been quiet for 15 minutes, which, if you know Max, is extremely odd behavior for her. Something was really wrong. It was in moments like these, when his tender feelings were so strong for Max that more of his walls came down and slipped into this softer, more relaxed and romantic side of him. "Baby, what's wrong?" He asked, pulling the boat to the side to focus his attention on her. Usually, Max would have blushed at the nickname and made some joke about Ellis going soft on her. This time she didn't, opted for a "nothing." that wasn't at all believable, especially with how she continued to avoid eye contact and look out onto the water.
Ellis couldn't take this. This was so unlike Max, it hurt his heart to witness. She had never been this much in her shell in the entire time he had known her. "Please talk to me. Don't shut me out, that isn't like you."
Max took a deep breath. It hurt, felt like she had breathed out half of her energy with it. All the energy she was using to keep her feelings to herself was drained from her. "My mom's alive."
Ellis was quiet for a moment. Almost sure he had heard her wrong but when she didn't say anything else, he processed that he had indeed heard correctly. He remembered Max telling him about what happened to her mom, how hard it was for her to talk about. Ellis almost didn't know what to say. Almost. "Come here." Ellis had gotten up and walked over to where Max was. She turned immediately into his chest, he held her, one hand on her back and one on the back of her head.
"I don't know what to do, or--or what to think. She left me. She lied to me and my dad. Or maybe they both lied to me.." Max lifted her head and looked into Ellis' eyes, hers having an uncharacteristically glassy look to them, "Cole. What do I do?"
It hurt Ellis' heart so deeply to see Max like that. She was the strongest person he knew but he also knew that she needed him to be the strong one this time. To take care of her the way she had when he was dealing with Daniel's murder and his feelings of guilt surrounding it. "I don't know, baby…but we'll figure it out. I promise, okay?"
Max continued to look up at him, a single tear falling from each eye. "Don't ever lie to me. Okay, please?"
Ellis wiped her tears away with his thumbs and cupped her cheeks, "I won't, Max. I promise." He said this and he knew he was going to keep this promise, no matter what.
Thanks for reading!!! I hope you enjoyed! This is also cross-posted on my ao3 which is also Drpepperstan24. <3
