you can ALSO tell that i'm right because we have TWO DIFFERENT MEN who got obsessively attached to their characters in extremely revealing ways during this tv show's run.
jensen ackles inserted himself so fully into dean that dean could nEVER be gay EVER because jensen finds it so so so icky (and he and dean are the same person). jensen ackles was so upset by the ending that he could not move on until he produced his own show to re-write the universe's canon for the express purposes of making sure dean was never ever even close to being in a gay relationship and also got a happy ending by saving his parents. when ackles was faced with the idea that people see queer desire in a character he identifies with, it caused a homophobic and hostile identity crisis. (he later apologized for hostility to a fan and homophobic remarks.)
we see that when people deeply identify with a character, they press the character to further align with/conform to themselves. more similar for more identity confirmation and connection. not less.
misha collins ALSO got obsessively attached to his character. he ALSO cannot move on for years after the show ended due to it. but not because he self-inserted into the macho man from the start. but because when faced with the idea that people saw queer desire in a character he played, he specifically got attached to the character's confused and desperate gay yearning. not to the character but to the queer community and exploration of gay desire that surrounded the character and which misha clearly does not want to relinquish. almost as if it was something he himself felt and needed to explore. at which point he began hopping in and out of the closet and the spn fandom, convinced that everything revolves exclusively around them, said it was only because they reacted positively when he 'acted gay' and he was addicted to praise. like he wasn't dealing with tension and hostility on set in his day to day life about this with a costar and showrunner who vehemently disagreed and repeatedly asked him to stop 'inflaming the fans.' 'inflaming the fans' was talking to them about the queer stuff in the show he was interested in.
misha collins has faced and is facing homophobia because of his outspoken support for dean and cas' gay relationship. he isn't doing it for attention and because the fans love him so much, he's doing it because it means something to him personally on an emotional level. cannot describe enough that the fandom community did not brainwash misha collins into spearheading the destiel truther movement. it would have been FAR EASIER to align with his costar and showrunner and not talk about it, to avoid "icky" topics like gay sexuality several years ago when it was much more controversial, avoid blame for jensen's discomfort and bad fan boundaries, avoid his sexual identity journey being publicly reduced to "attention seeking behavior" en masse by the fans who perceive their "support" as literal pavlovian gay training and the only incentive for misha's investment in queer issues.
it's absurd! it's really absurd. and it makes me i'm batty. i am currently batty.
people unfollow me for my misha collins opinions every single time because they perceive it like outing him or harping on about his ‘egg’ or “speculating on his sexuality” rather than a reflection that straight people are also part of the queer community and can joyfully participate. not only do gay parents have and raise straight children who aren’t about to be disowned, that’s the whole point of questioning. to make a gray space to explore in, no expectations and no time limit.
but because we can’t generally imagine that random straight or mostly straight people are full members of the community, we end up creating this pressure to firmly come down on one side or the other. come out of the closet or be straight and acknowledge there never even was one, ‘just’ a door you weren’t positive where it led. as if being non-normative enough that you need to question and investigate these things isn’t quintessentially queer, and as if they’re gonna be immediately booted out of the community and lose the relationships and understanding that allowed them to make sense of themselves if they come to the ‘wrong answer’ (straight).
the inability for our community to conceptualize straight (or mostly straight) people as ‘full members’ also creates identity conflict when your immediate sense of horniness seems to contradict queer identity. like you have to constantly have Significant Attraction to the opposite sex to ‘count’ and if it drops below a 50/50 your gay card is revoked—at least a 3+ on the kinsey scale to qualify and Be One Of Us. as if questioning doesn’t make you one of us. as if a ‘2’ and low level attraction isn’t ‘gay enough’ or even a singular experience of a same-sex crush or attraction is straight because it doesn’t happen with enough frequency. this is particularly crushing to bi/pansexual people whose attraction to same and different genders can fluctuate over time.
and part of this is because there is no clean line between straight and bisexual or anything else. someone could have had one single crush on their best friend as a teenager and no other same gender attraction for the rest of their lives but still consider themselves bi/pan because that relationship was so meaningful. and someone else with the exact same experience could decide it was a one off and isn’t significant enough to call themselves anything. in reality, there is no difference between them. just their perception of themselves and decision to assign a word to it or not
admittedly I do find his personal revolving door ass relationship to the closet hysterical, but I genuinely profoundly appreciate it for making that grey area so apparent. he’s discussed polyamory and same sex attraction in his book (nonnormativity & exploration), he’s come out of the closet and gone back in multiple times (QUESTIONING), and has seemingly dedicated the rest of his career to highlighting the very real homophobia that prevented dean and cas from a canonical relationship. he is a member of the queer community whether he’s publicly identifying as straight or bi at any given moment. and we can tell because of his actions.
I find it genuinely bizarre that people have turned his personal relationship with the closet into “misha just always wants attention” rather than recognizing real solidarity and community participation amidst a confusing identity journey. it genuinely feels like i’m back in middle school, with my friends bitching at each other that they only came out as bi “for the attention.” which was always and will always be a completely insane assertion. people do not come out of the closet for attention. but it was tied to ideas of bisexuals being “greedy” (greedy for attention, greedy for the attention of more than one gender just for the sake of itself.) and this outright homophobia would consequently force them straight back in the closet. which caused homophobes to feel vindicated and correct in the biphobic assertion that anyone would ever intentionally attract homophobia for attention or seek sexual interaction from genders they don’t feel attraction to. (wanting their attention IS ATTRACTION.)
it genuinely drives me insane that that old homophobic bullshit became the uncritical mass opinion of misha collins. that he did it for attention. he didn’t. he found his people (VERY UNSURPRISINGLY after being thrust into a gay spotlight) and that very spotlight made it almost impossible for him to find his place among them.
anyway i’m fully fucking right. stop saying bisexuality exists “for the attention” 2kforever and if you can’t find joy in queer exploration no matter how messy, keep your trap shut about misha collins.

More profound when you consider that Doctors Without Borders rarely makes political statements.
In #UNSC mtg on Middle East, @MSF SG Christopher Lockyear says: "Israeli forces have attacked our convoys, detained our staff, bulldozed our vehicles, hospitals have been bombed and raided. And now for a second time, one of our staff shelters has been hit. This pattern of attacks is either intentional or indicative of reckless incompetence. Our colleagues in #Gaza are fearful that as I speak to you today, they will be punished tomorrow."
He adds: "The humanitarian response in Gaza today is an illusion. A convenient illusion that perpetuates a narrative that this war is being waged in line with international laws. Calls for humanitarian assistance have echoed across this chamber. Yet in Gaza we have less and less every day, less space, less medicine, less food, less water, less safety."

The most important thing to impress on new & returning Tumblr users is that anyone on here with a normal human name is a digital succubus trying to steal your identity and the real & trustworthy souls all have names like ShreksFlamingKnob69

as an aroace person with limited sexual experience, no interest in watching porn, and poor sex ed as a teen, there IS something simultaneously funny and vaguely tragic about being 28 adult years old and realising how extremely tiny your frame of reference is for genitalia and deciding you should expand this to better understand bodies (yours and others). and then you're just there like "okay so what the fuck do I even google right now, anyway"

How do you make broccoli?
cut it into bit sized pieces
put it in a tupperware
generous dollop of your preferred fat (melted butter or ghee for me)
salt, garlic, & onion powder base + desired spices. add heat (chili powder, red pepper flakes), a bitter herb (paprika, turmeric, cumin), and an aromatic or two (oregano, basil, cilantro, chives, etc) experiment & fuck around to see what you like.
put lid on & shake vigorously to evenly coat
roast at 350-375 for as long as it takes until the broccoli is soft all the way through & there’s a nice crisp on the side in contact with the pan
roasting it will caramelize the broccoli, the fat will sink in, the spices will blend w the fat, you will be left with a glorious broccoli experience.
if it needs something, squirt with lemon or lime juice after to add acid back in.
you can make a cheddar sauce to drizzle on top by starting with a basic roux and building in cheddar like you would parmesan for an alfredo. if you want to do a cheddar sauce, italian spice profile works well. crumble the cheddar first and add SLOWLY or it won’t be smooth
if you don’t know how to season according to taste, pour your seasonings into a separate bowl and don’t add them to your tupperware shake until the mixture in the bowl smells good.

people who advocate for keeping cats indoors: have legitimate sources and compelling reasons for their position, along with ways to keep indoor cats happy
people who advocate for allowing their cats outdoors: my cat is somehow smarter than every other outdoor cat that has ever died horribly. birds don’t deserve to exist as much as my cat deserves to have fun.

Out of curiosity and also guilt over my own coffee intake. I wanna ask:
Now I'm not talking about when you're studying and so you drink 3x the usual amount or something like that. This isn't me asking what your record is. I'm talking about the most basic, average day, how many coffees you drink?
