I’ve also decided to finish this decade with something more light-hearted, detailing the many trends that one can associate with the past ten years. I styled this picture in a similar fashion to those gaudy collages you have relating to the 1980s and 1990s, with this mainly being reflected in the style of this picture. The title of the picture holds a very minimalist design, and is shown from inside a phone, whilst the rest of the poster has a dull white background. These main design choices were added to reflect the omnipresence of smartphones in this decade, as well as the general trend of Minimalism, which has been followed by many companies in recent years. The decision to make the background seem plain was not completely because I’m feeling lazy, but because I tried to follow the trend of minimalism, a trend I personally hate because of how boring it is (I probably would have added in a pretty pattern if there was some other major design trend).
Beyond this though, there are a few other things I chose to add in to reflect the 2010s:
-Ragecomics- The basis of most early-2010s memes.
-Skrillex (or rather Dubstep in general)- A key figure in a genre of music that you either loved or hated.
-Obama- A fantastic President who laid the groundwork for change that will hopefully be built upon in the future.
-Hipster culture- Fresh-out-of-college rich kids who made avoiding the mainstream a mainstream trend.
-The Occupy Movement (“We are the 99%” sign)- A promising post-Great Recession movement with disappointing results.
Gay Rights- Gay marriage is now legal in places like the United States, and homosexuality is more accepted the western world, so much so that companies are now no-longer afraid to pander to them whenever June comes around. Still, other parts of the planet have yet to change their outdated ways.
Trans rights- With people like Caitlyn Jenner and Leelah Alcorn, Transgenderism has arrived into the forefront of social issues, though it remains a strongly divisive issue throughout the decade.
Drones- Like helicopters but smaller and cheaper.
Overwatch- An interesting game that offered a unique personality to the shooter genre in a decade oversaturated with annual Call of Duty releases.
Cuphead- A challenging run-and-gun platformer with a Golden-Age animation-style, showcasing what can be made through video games these days.
Minecraft- The game that doesn’t die. It defined the childhoods of many gamers who fondly remember the early-2010s, and has since made a major resurgence in the decade’s end.
Steven Universe- A much-loved show that offered many unique and progressive themes, which I can admire despite my mixed feeling for the show itself.
Gravity Falls- A show aimed at children didn’t have to be this immersive and interesting, but Alex Hirsch and his team did it anyway and offered the world two seasons of hilarious and yet gripping television.
Political correctness/Woke-ness (“That’s Offensive” speech bubble)- Something that has been pushed to death among the political mainstream, but especially by the Left, as people are silenced whilst others demand safe spaces to keep their precious feelings from being hurt. Political correctness is a somewhat-trend that is better off staying in this decade.
Shrek- Whilst the 2010s have been starved of a new Shrek film besides the contested “Shrek Forever After”, the “Shrek is Love, Shrek is Life” greentext story, despite its crude subject matter, has made the brutish but kind ogre a mainstay in meme culture, whilst offering people the opportunity to explore the nuances of the franchise, after growing up with the character.
Pewdiepie- Starting out strong in the decade, making a name for himself as “that funny Swedish guy who screams as scary games”, an incident in February 2017, in which he was called a Nazi by the mainstream media, resulted in him becoming a more independent and politically incorrect figure, before going on to unite the internet in a battle for the most subscribed YouTube channel against a corporation. He lost in the end, but it was fun while it lasted.
Tyler, the Creator- Offering a unique sound among waves of forgettable Pop music, Tyler evolved from an edgy but somewhat humorous rapper, to an interesting and poignant singer in this past decade, achieving near-mainstream success.
Marvel Cinematic Universe (Endgame logo)- Many mainstream cinemagoers are bound to have seen at least one of these groundbreaking movies in cinemas, with their intense action and perfectly balanced humour, all culminating in the outstanding films “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”.
Death Grips- Unlike anything that has ever been popular among general audiences, the exciting tunes concocted by MC Ride and Zach Hill have remained in the minds of many younger and more alternative individuals.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic- Arguably the most unlikely of fanbases to come around in this decade, this re-imagining of an 80s cartoon series had a style of humour and storytelling that peaked the interests of a group of adult men known as “Bronies”, who’s reasons for being interested were questioned and much of the internet hated them, but they were certainly something to behold throughout these years.
The 2016 Presidential Election (Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump)- A time many can regard as the branching-off point between the first and second halves of the decade, as the extremes of both sides were exposed to the world with astonishing results.
Vine- A social media platform that has since disappeared off the face of the Earth, but brought about many notable celebrities and memes that are often remembered by younger generations.
Vaporwave- Alongside Hipsters, Vaporwave was perhaps one of the few examples of a concrete “counter-culture” movement, offering an anti-Capitalist message within its use of music and iconography from the 1980s and 1990s. Since then, it is best known for offering a warm and interesting “aesthetic”.
Pepe the Frog- A frog best known for saying “Feels Good Man” earlier on, was later used by certain Right-wingers and has since been touted as a symbol of hat. But, with a smug grin like that, it appears that he doesn’t seem to care about what others say.
Social media- It already played a massive role from the mid-2000s-onwards, but now, the scale of social media has grown exponentially, with people moving away from mainstream news and entertainment and instead choosing to get their kicks on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. This focus on gaining the news from social media has held some negative consequences as fake news continues to fool gullible Boomers.
Hyperbeast fashion- In terms of fashion, the Hypebeast is the late-2010s’ version of the Hipster, though unlike Hipsters, who are financially-independent rich kids who make questionable purchasing decisions, Hypebeasts are often preteen/teenagers who suck money out of the credit cards of their rich parents.
Adventure Time- A rather interesting cartoon that started off as a fun show to get high to, but evolved into a gripping epic with an expansive lore and interesting world.
Minions- While they were rather annoying to older viewers following their introduction in the otherwise top-tier film Despicable Me, children and especially 40-something year-old Facebook Mums couldn’t get enough of these wacky tic-tacs.
Brexit- A subject that I, as a Brit, couldn’t seem to get away from in the past few years, as politicians refused to move forward with the people’s decision. But, with the Tory majority in Parliament, as depressing as that sounds, it seems possible that we can finally move on as a country to more important matters.
Vaping (Juul-smoking mouth)- Recovered chain-smokers and rebellious teens have made this trend a popular pastime, though its popularity has waned recently over health concerns.
Doge- Whilst it began as a singular image of a cartoonish-looking Shiba Inu making a weird face, as brightly-coloured Comic Sans surrounds her, this dog has become the subject of many surreal and unique memes, taking on many different forms, solidifying the transformative nature that all memes should strive for.
Hoverboards, Fortnite, Dabbing, and Fidget Spinners (The monstrosity on the bottom-right)- What do a handle-less Segway, a more cartoony (but somewhat better) version of PUBG, a dance based off of post drug-taking sneezes and small bits of metal for Autistic children have in common? They have all ascended to levels of annoying trends that at least some people have had fun with.
Undertale (Sans)- An interesting game that has gained a heavy degree of fame for its interesting themes and interesting characters, some of which have been admired a bit too much by certain teenage girls.
As for my personal experiences of this decade, I can say that, whilst I was born in the early-2000s, I was definitely raised in the 2010s. Much of my memories of the previous decade are rather minimal, and I didn’t follow that many trends considering I only lived on constant repeats of SpongeBob by the start of this decade. Since then, though I have gained many impactful memories from these past few years. Some good, some bad, some great, all of which were a part of growing up. In about two-weeks’ time, I will finally become a legal adult, and shall begin the rest of my life. So, I wish you all well, and hope your Twenties are truly roaring!

I would also like to conclude with some individuals who died last year, who I forgot to mention in my previous post:
R. Lee Emery (24 March 1944 - 15 April 2018): The embodiment of the “Strict Drill Sergeant” archetype, who was best known for appearing in “Full Metal Jacket” as Sergeant Herman, and in “Toy Story” as Sarge.
TotalBiscuit (John Bain) (8 July 1984 - 24 May 2018): A Cynical Brit who offered interesting viewpoints on video games and the video game industry, though died as he fell victim to cancer.
Barry Chuckle (Barry David Elliott) (24 December 1944 - 5 August 2018): A popular British children’s comedian, who always offered a heavy amount of charm through his goofy personality, as he comprised of one half of the Chuckle Brothers.

I’m back again (for now, at least), in time for today’s general election. I’m only like a month away from being eligible to vote, but I still really want to. Not like it will matter much anyway. The Tories will (sadly) win, there’s no doubt about that, Labour has some good ideas, but their stance on Brexit doesn’t really suit me and they have no chance in my constituency, and the Brexit Party isn’t running in my seat.
Since, like most voters, I’m largely somewhat dissatisfied with the choices, I decided to offer my own ideas in a special “manifesto” that I’ve uploaded as a pdf. Feel free to check it out!

Regarding my infrequent posts
I know I usually talk about my Tumblr being "dead", but I suppose that would really work as much as it would now. I've only posted five times since Easter, including this post, and I think there's a reason behind that. Namely, I seem to have lost interest in participating within this site. It just doesn't necessarily seem as interesting as it was when I started out around 2 years ago.
I mean, I still have a few things to talk about, but I've placed more focus on other ways to spend my free time in recent months. I kinda prefer to show up on other sites and interest myself through different means. I do like to discuss issues and people here place on occasion, but it's ended up feeling more like an obligation rather than a voluntary decision. I suppose I've also ended up caring less because of other people's general lack of interest in my content. It sounds rather petty, but I guess it doesn't seem as interesting if I can't really interact with other similar-minded people, which almost seems like the point of social media.
Speaking of people, this website's community seems to be less engaging than it was in the past. Ever since last December's purge, this site's size has fallen drastically, leaving a set of individuals inhabiting this place that can only be described as being Tumblr's "purists"; people who just focus on gender politics, anger with the world and politics in general, or just all-round bad vibes. I have quite an interest in politics and I have for quite a while, but I'm honestly sick of this environment of hatred we've built up for ourselves in recent years.
I think I should discuss this focus on such content, as well as my general obsession with social media around a year or two ago. I think this overexposure to such a setting has stopped me from enjoying life as it is, and living in the moment, rather than getting sucked into a meaningless online world. I could certainly use some good vibes in the coming weeks. So far, I could say that 2019 has been the worst year of my life. I haven't bothered to improve my issue surrounding loneliness, and my anxiety has recently resulted in me relapsing into some bad habits. Not to mention the general stress of being a sixth-former in these past few months with coursework and exams and shit.
I'm off with my family on holiday as I type this out, but I don't think I'll be posting as much as I did in the past. This doesn't mean this'll be the last you'll hear of me here, but I think that posts will remain largely infrequent. I plan to try other things on different platforms in about a year or so when I have some more time after the whole issue of A-levels clears up, but I guess a personal social media just doesn't seem like the kind of sacrifice of my time that I hoped for previously.

I’ve just heard of Etika’s passing
The internet can be a tough place for many people. It can be tough, it can be demanding, and it cannot be for everyone. What has just taken place in the past few days is a clear example of what can happen if your lifestyle is not regulated to it’s fullest degree. It can be fatal, and Desmond Amofah is sadly now one of the many that have succumbed to this grave fate.
Personally, I was not a dedicated viewer of Etika during his career, but I knew full well about his presence on the internet. He was a truly unique and hilarious guy who knew how to hype things up, so much so that he ended up becoming a meme of sorts across the internet because of how interesting of a character he was. And, because of this, it’s all the more upsetting to see him go through such a strong mental decline in the past twelve months. He once held a stable career on YouTube and Twitch, before falling into severe mental instability, threatening suicide multiple times claiming that he was still OK.
And now we have the culmination of these events, with a man lost and a community in shock. An event like this was never supposed to happen, and it’s important to make sure that nothing similar happens again. Whilst help from friends and relatives is important, sometimes it’s important for the individual to speak up and present their situation. Desmond kept his thoughts and emotions locked away, and it held dire consequences. So, if you are suffering from severe mental health issues, and are afraid to speak out, then it’s important to make your situation known, and to listen to someone who you know will understand your instabilities:

Happy 10th birthday, Minecraft!
Tumblr media
So then. The childhood-defining legend loved by the masses has been around for a whole decade now! It’s impressive how this game has still managed to maintain an audience after all this time. Whilst it’s had it’s low points, there was little time in which the game outside of the public eye. From the very start of the game’s life, it’s held such a strong impact on popular culture. Whether that be through the various YouTube gaming channels that helped it rise to success, such as the Yogscast and Tobuscus, or the wide array of ways to play the game, most people are likely to have at least one precious memory of the game.
To think that ten years ago, Notch was just this guy who made games in his bedroom, not expecting much from the world. Nowadays, part of my media class uses his game as a key case-study! Meanwhile, over 176 million people have played his game, a vast community of players have been connected through modding and Minecon, and Notch’s idea is now worth billions of dollars, and belongs to the most powerful companies in the world. And, with that new Minecraft Earth game being announced, I’m truly excited to see what happens in the next ten years with this incredible game!

Fast food tier list (British edition).
So, I decided to do one of these things. I know that the whole tier list thing is entering it's ironic stage at this point, but I decided to drop in my personal thoughts from a British perspective, to spice things up compared to the usual American stuff.
D-tier:
Nando's - I don't know if this counts as fast food, but I'm gonna say it does anyway, because it's a pretty popular place to get a quick bite to eat. That is, unless you ask me. I mean, it's all right. The food is fine on it's own. It doesn't give you salmonella or anything. But it's just boring! If you want chicken, then that's exactly what you get. But that's all there really is. If you want any alternatives, then you don't have much choice. You’re only getting spicy chicken, and if that isn’t your thing, then a lot of these things aren’t really going to interest you. Not to mention that without the spice, the chicken is dry as shit, especially if it’s in a burger, and the deserts consist of little more than flavourless fro-yo and like three flavours of ice cream. The one good thing about this place though, is that you can drink as much stuff as you want from their machines, keeping you hydrated through all the dry shit!
C-tier:
Subway - I guess this is something more people are likely to agree on than my last point. Subway’s only really a place you go to for lunch if you’re either busy or trying to be healthy (though the chemicals they put in the bread don’t really help matters). I guess it’s a better choice for your health than most other places here, but we’re not hippies, so this stuff is just boring! All I really feel like getting from this place is a simple turkey and lettuce sandwich, because that’s all that really interested me (and also because I’m a fussy eater, so that might affect my opinion). Besides, the only other thing I tried there was the chicken, and you never have cold chicken, because I’m pretty sure that’s a health hazard. Though the one major upside, is that the cookies they have for dessert are just to die for! Even if they’re not that healthy.
B-tier:
Favourite Chicken - If there’s one thing that’s a key staple of British urban cuisine, it’s the chicken shop. And whilst this chain isn’t exactly as well-known as Chicken Cottage for example (a place I wanted to visit for this list, but didn’t have the time to do so), it does have many good things about it. Especially in terms of their chicken burgers, because, my God, those things are amazing! The sauce they offer allows the burger to taste heavenly, and the chicken itself is brilliant. I’ve got my fix of this stuff from their location in West Drayton (about a 5-10 minute drive from Heathrow Airport), and I recommend their burgers to anyone in the area, even if you’re just looking for something quick to eat whilst spending the night waiting for a plane, because they’re open until 11. However, in terms of downsides, I guess that much of their other chicken is kinda dry and a little too pink to ignore at times, their dessert menu is rather lacking and quality really depends on location. Whilst the burgers at West Drayton were always a treat, I’ve only been to their branch in Slough once, and when I was there, the breading felt much more flaky and for the next few days I had pinkeye. That could be my fault, but I figured I might as well say that anyway.
Burger King - Now I suppose this place isn’t very popular in America, though I guess it does seem better in an area with less competition like Britain. Me and my brothers tended to visit Burger King on our birthdays or on a special event when were a little younger than we are now. Nowadays we only really tend to visit Burger King whenever we want a change from KFC or McDonald’s. Now it’s not because I hate their stuff, far from it in fact; the variety of burgers they have are massive and the desserts, like at subway, are absolutely phenomenal, but mainly because they have a few flaws that stop them from being of the highest tier. For one, many of their sides, especially the fries, are really dull, especially when compared to it’s competitors. Another serious downside here are the conditions most of the restaurants are in. They can be pretty damn dirty in places, especially in older restaurants, like the one near Park Royal station, which could really use some renovations. The poor quality of the restaurants is rather apparent when it comes to the reliability of the ice cream machines. Like, your ice cream is incredible, especially those Kit-Kat and the (sadly) discontinued M&M’s Fusions, but that means nothing if I’m unable to eat them! Still, Burger King’s pretty damn good, though I’d probably rank it higher if they brought back the M&M’s Fusion and fixed their stuff.
A-tier:
Harry Ramsden - A place that deals in a much better-known British delicacy: Fish and chips! Though I tend to go more for sausage and chips myself, I was never once disappointed by the quality of this place, except maybe for one time when they ran out of Pepsi. Still, the food has a nice taste to it and it’s definitely a place that I love to eat from. I can’t exactly say much about this place though, because there aren’t that many branches out there, and you’re much more likely to find it in the Northern regions of England than the South. I don’t why this is the only thing the North can have over the South, but I digress.
KFC - Now KFC is generally seen as a shit-tier Popeyes in the States, but here, it’s the prime spot for roadmen to congregate, and for good reason. The chicken is much more moist and flavourful than in places like Favourite Chicken, and they have quite a few things available, considering it’s mostly just chicken. The fries have recently been upgraded, and pack much more flavour than before, especially with salt, and their dessert menu is also much larger than it really needs to be, but it still tastes fantastic nonetheless. Still though, it’s taste still isn’t really great enough for it to be featured in the S-tier.
McDonald’s - A fairly well-known choice, but still one that deserves a spot here. This place is amazing. Though it may have slightly less variety, in terms of food available, than Burger King, it makes up for it in terms of their quality. Though Big Macs do get quite a bad rap, which I can somewhat agree with, their quality lies within their temporary burgers, especially the Big Tasty, which really needs to be a year-long thing, though it might result in the extinction of cows if it was! The desserts are also pretty damn good, with them offering similar ice cream stuff to Burger King, except the machines actually work! The fries also deserve an honourable mention; their just really nice and tasty.
S-tier:
Five Guys - Whenever you visit one of their restaurants, you tend to see that Five Guys really likes to show off their positive reviews, and I’d like to say that these guys deserve every last one of them! Though it does little outside of burgers and fries, it doesn’t need to do anything else! Their burgers are some of the greatest I’ve ever tasted, especially with bacon and cheese. Not to mention the fussy eater in you will be happy to know that you’re not just stuck with a list of pre-set combinations, just a base of a burger, and maybe cheese and/or bacon. The range of drinks, soft or hard, is also massive, not to mention that they’re mainly from their fountain machines, allowing you to drink as much as you want, though I don’t think you’d want to, considering that their burgers are filling enough. The only downside is that it’s pretty expensive compared to other places on this list, but let me ensure you that it’s worth every penny!
So that’s that. I gotta admit, this list was pretty limited in terms of content. I could’ve added in places like Chicken Cottage or Wimpy (an endangered species in it’s British homeland), though it’s been tough trying to get to these places. I could probably update this if I do visit these places, but this is all I’ve got for now

Merry Easter, people of Earth (and happy belated 4/20)!
I know Easter doesn't have the same level of popularity as Christmas, but it still holds a major role in my life, personally. I may not be the most religious person in the world, but I'd say that these past 40 days of Lent have been a great success, in terms of sticking to my "fasts".
Hope you enjoy the festivities, whether they be religious or commercialised, whilst I finally taste chocolate for the first time in six weeks.

A set of character concepts relating to that second Adventure Time series idea I talked about a little while back.
I wasn’t really sure how Finn should dress in his “Flame King” outfit, I could either not give him his hat as that would make more sense for his regal duties, or do so because that’s how you’d recognise him. Either way, he’s got quite a bit of hair for a 37-year-old.
I was also interested with the use of scarves/ruffs/neckerchiefs that Princess Bubblegum and Marceline have in this picture. I thought it highlighted the extent of their connection to one-another, as well as their status as co-rulers of the Candy Kingdom. It shows each of them as being one half of a whole, almost like those t-shirts that young couples wear on vacations.
I also liked having a go at Simon’s new look, as it’s likely he would have appeared to have age the most over those 20 years, and I really just like seeing a character go through the process of growing old.

Figured I might as well celebrate my Irish heritage somehow this St Patrick’s Day.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day! Remember where you came from.

How people would probably dress for the saint’s days if they were as commercialised as St. Patrick’s Day.

Fantastic job, Miss May. Looks like we’re gonna be kicking the can further down the road for a little while longer. So, what have we achieved since we triggered Article 50 almost two years ago?
Absolutely. Fucking. Nothing.
We’ve just waited for something to solve the issues with Brexit for so long now, and yet you’ve not found a single solution to the issues with Ireland or trade or anything. We even basically spent the first six months not even debating about a deal, but instead what was better out of no deal or a bad deal, rather than actually discussing ideas for a deal and preventing these issues from actually happening. It’s kinda funny considering how we now have practically have no choice but to either have your bad deal or no deal at all.
Now, I don’t want to put on a tinfoil hat or anything, but a part of me thinks that this is also partially the result of the European Union. I know it sounds odd, but I can’t help but think that this has specifically been made more difficult of a process than it should be. It’s quite obvious that the EU doesn’t want us to go, considering how valuable of an asset we have been to the union in the past, which I suppose would explain why we’ve tried a bunch of different plans that were all rejected by the EU, with the deal they finally allow being one that supports them but disadvantages us. And now we’re trying our hardest to avoid this deal. It also seems interesting how in 2017, Italy and France polled that 57% and 61% of people, respectively, would be interested in a referendum on EU sovereignty, which probably means that 57% and 61% of these people would be interested in leaving. But now, the events taking place in Britain today appear to be a message to the other members of the EU, telling them “This is what happens when you want to leave. Your country ends up collapsing if you ever get in our way”.
Because, let’s face it. Our country’s collapsing in on itself. There are so many problems that this country has to deal with but can’t because we’ve dedicated 100% of our time in Parliament to Brexit tennis, whilst meanwhile, crime among youths is growing at an alarming rate, and all houses on the market are too expensive for young people to buy, whilst dozens of people within a few miles of Parliament are laying in the streets, cold and alone, because they can’t find a job or pay the outrageous rents that London demands. I’m somewhat supportive of Brexit, personally, as I want this country’s laws to be decided by the people rather than some rich elite operating hundreds of miles away from our country (which is also why I’m against the House of Lords, but I digress). However, I don’t really care about much of that. I just want Brexit to be over and done with, rather than have our country collapse all for nothing.
Even then, I doubt the Tories are actually going to do anything about the situation. They have placed absolutely no care into those in need because they’re still operating this system of austerity, even though the Great Recession ended at least five years ago, with our government apparently placing focus on paying off it’s debts to other countries. But I don’t see any of this money going anywhere. We’re just sitting on it, not doing anything for our failing public services or our poor and unemployed. I’m really just waiting for when I’m eligible to vote, so that when the next general election rolls around, I can help to vote those guys out of office.
But who else should we go for? Labour seems like a good idea, but what is it that they want? Over the past few months, Corbyn has practically fallen out of the concept of Populism, and has instead resorted to saying nothing at all, and especially nothing about Brexit, unless it involves talking about how bad of a job the Tories are doing. The only time he’s really said anything of note was when he was trying to clear his name over the whole Jew-hating thing the party’s been caught up in. All other potential policies and ideas have basically been forgotten about.
So. In this this country we have a ruling party that does nothing. An opposition party that says nothing, and the rest are irrelevant, and have no chance of sorting things out without forming a coalition with the larger parties. I know we have much more choice over who we can vote for than in America for example, but it ends up feeling limiting regardless.
So, in short: Parliament isn’t working, Brexit is taking up too much of our political landscape, and the division between people and Parliament remains wide open.
That’s just something to get off my chest. Populism ftw. Peace.
