"A bee I am... not." (2025 edition)

"Bimble, this is the third year in a row you've redrawn the same illustration from 2023." Yes, I know, but I just love that drawing so much 'cus it's not only a great composition that really feels like it'd belong in an actual cartoon, it's also such a wonderful way to show my growth as an artist throughout the years. I just adore how everything looks so much more proportionate, how expressive Ness and Picky look here, and the shading is just so good now! I fear I must stop myself before I infodump any more, but I hope you enjoy the piece! If you want to see the old versions, they're a quick scroll through this blog!

A Walk on the Moon Side...

As much as I wanted to call this "The Dark Side of the Moon(Side)," I soon learnt that I had already done a piece called that a year ago, so out of not wanting to repeat myself I gave it another name. Anyways: Like a little cockroach, I always come crawling back to Moonside in some way in my art, whether through writing, or drawing, I just like coming back to it. Maybe it's just 'cus I've made it extra horrifying in my fan-novel, and I love doing like... surrealistic and nightmarish horror like that. But it looks like poor Ness and Jeff are really shaking in their boots now, I mean... being trapped in a neon nightmare will be bound to chill one to the bone after all! My quick little artist trivia for this piece will be that I used old German Expressionist horror films as reference for the buildings being all pointy and crooked like this, specifically Dr. Caligari, but also the art direction of Nightmare Before Christmas too! I figured it'd be perfect for the kind of nightmare-land Moonside is!

"Behold, the power of Mani-Mani!"

Hey, it's been a bit since I've posted some EarthBound fanart. Sorry 'bout that, the hyperfixation didn't come back until now. But, enough about that, on with the description! Y'know, it never occurred to me that I never once drew art for the fight against Carpainter, so why don't I change that! Anyways, I have a huge flashy fight against Carpainter in my fan-novel, where he has a flash of blue light behind him and I describe it "looking like a fanned open tail of a peacock", and it's super cool. But I never quite felt confident enough in showing it until now, and boy it looks great! All of the panicking cultists really adds to the sense of chaos that I want the fight to have in the novel. I also really like the little logo I gave the Happy Happyists, I based it partly off of the Greek drama mask in the MGM logo, that thing always gave me the jibblies, and it felt appropriate for this sort of zealous group of fanatics that preach happiness but enact suffering instead. Either way, I hope you all enjoy!

My Friends in Dream Land!

Well well well, here's something new and different! Felt like drawing some Kirby fanart after finding a piece of concept art from Kirby's Dream Land 2 that I really liked. And I really like the Dark Matter Trilogy so… boom, Dark Matter Trilogy fanart be upon ye. There's a little bit of all three games of the trilogy here, nothing that I can note from any game's being missed out here.

Happy Mermay, from Miriam!

I just remembered it's Mermay, so I drew a quick little Miriam to celebrate! Evidentally to say, she's very flattered about all the love for her kind this month ushers in. I might as well use this art to also give a little fun fact about Miriam: she's based on a purple tang! I always loved how they looked, with the purple body and gold tailfin, it's a very nice look y'know?

Innocent Love

Oh good heavens, Snow White has fallen in love with the farm boy! /ref One thing I haven't really shown enough of from Snow White is her innocence regarding romantic love. She ends up getting feelings for Jack, but she genuinely doesn't know what to make of it at first! I really wanted to show that off with her 'cus it'd help people get even more attached to her, and it'd be a great way to show off how her adoptive dad, Max, admittedly may have doted on her a little too much and she hadn't really seen or experienced the world beyond her cottage home. It's not his fault though, he really does cherish Snow White, it's just the side effect of that is she's a tad innocent in this regard. I also love how I leaned way more into anime inspirations, despite the very obviously rubberhose inspired nature of her design, and Snow White's very rubberhosey pie pupils. It's kinda funny how that all comes together y'know?

Hey, how'd y'all feel about a Pokemon AU?

So... I kinda got inspired one day to draw Snow White in a specific outfit someone made their trainer in Pokemon X and Y wear, and I just ended up drawing my two most favoritest OCs as Pokemon trainers. Their little partner Pokemon are actually reflections on them as characters, have fun figuring those out :3 Oh yeah, btw, I renamed Rose Red to be Snow White 'cus she's supposed to be my take on Snow White, and she was already named that early on in developing her character so... Plus I just kinda wanted to go with my heart on this so, whatever, she's Snow White now :P

Looming Darkness

In honor of me completing Kirby's Dream Land 3 today, I figured I might as well do some fanart of my favorite Kirby game to celebrate! Despite its many warts, Dream Land 3 will always be my favorite Kirby game due to it doing what I like all at once: It has a charming artstyle, the animal buddies are at their best here, and it has a giant bleeding eyeball for a final boss. Y'know, fun for the whole family!

"Why would a girl like you hang out with a guy like me...?"

Hey, did y'all know I have more OCs? Well, here are two of them! There's Saba, the boy on the right, and Uri, the girl on the left. The story they're meant for is meant to be a very personal story for me, it's about reconciliation, learning to love and forgive yourself, and seeing through another's eyes unclouded by preconceived notions. The kicker is: it all takes place during Neolithic Europe, that fun transitional period where people were beginning to settle down in farming cultures after hunting and gathering for millennia, and said cultures often times interacted with each other in many different ways. I hope you all enjoy what will come from their story, it's one I feel I'll put as much passion into as my Beanstalk Project. I hope I can do it as a feature film, because their story is meant to be inspired by the more mature and lyrical Studio Ghibli films like Princess Mononoke, and The Boy and the Heron.

In the Open Wood

So, I've been thinking about my feature film idea a lot lately, and I felt like doing a much more environmental piece for it would be great at showing off the kind of vibe I want for it; a primeval and pristine nature vibe. Since I've already planned to have a scene of an aurochs hunt in it, I wanted to draw a scene showing off not only the wood-pasture environments I want to portray in the project, but also what an aurochs that's at peace looks like. There's a bull, a cow, and a calf all following alongside each other on their long trek for sustenance. I'm super proud of how I rendered both the background, and featured fauna, and I hope you all enjoy it too! (Btw, an aurochs is the animal we get our domesticated cattle from if you were wondering)

Your First Buddy

Hey, it's Pokemon's birthday today! So... to celebrate why don't I share a little personal project of mine. Do y'all like Fakemon?

This is definitely something I don't foresee myself sharing as a project, but this will more or less be a fun excuse for me to experiment with creature design and trying out new artstyles, like trying to nail that "Pokemon feel" y'know? These are just what I'd imagine I would make if somehow Game Freak put me in charge of a Pokemon game, these are just what I'd want the starters to be. We have a combination of what I really like in Pokemon, a type that's surprisingly never been done before, and a repurposing of a scrapped design with a twist! I hope you all enjoy these three little goobers, I know I sure love 'em all to bits already! Who would you pick to start your very own Pokemon journey?

Once Upon a Time (redux)

Would you look at that! I finally have yet another big illustration for my Beanstalk Project to show off to you all! It's also probably the first time I've shown off Baba Yaga (designed by my good friend @squiddypineapple), Jack's mom, and Homer (that big purple guy in the back) here. I really should've gotten more on the ball in this regard then, lol.

For those new here, The Beanstalk Project is meant to be an anime-inspired retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk, though many other fairy tales from all over Europe get represented here too, such as Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, and even the folktales that inspired Igor Stravinsky's ballet The Firebird!

This project has easily become my favorite thing I've ever thought of, and I've put so much passion and love into it from so many angles, from my love of folklore, to my love of the EarthBound series, and especially to my love of traditional 2D animation of all kinds, from classic western animation of the 1920s 30s and 40s, to Showa and early Heisei era anime. I genuinely cannot wait for the day where I can properly start production, you truly won't see anything else like it.(edited)

It Takes Two (no relation to the video game)

It's been a hot minute since I've drawn some new Jack and Rose Red content, hasn't it? I ran out of steam until now, and like a lot of things in my life, it took something Astro Boy-related to help get the drive back. This one's nothing too crazy, it's just the two of them dancing and having fun! Oh yeah, and Rose Red's pendant is active too. I guess it tends to do that whenever she's dancing with someone she cares about (hint hint, wink wink). Seriously I did not intend for it to happen twice, but I guess you can add your two nickels joke here.

The Aftermath

I had so much fun drawing fanart of the Grandis Gang, I decided to draw more Nadia fanart from it! I decided this time to go with the Grandis Gang illustration, I wanted to do a sort of sequel drawing to that one piece of concept art with Marie hanging out with Sanson and Hanson. They were all doing what I call the "Slavic Squat" and I thought it'd be really funny to show the aftermath of that drawing. It seems Sanson and Hanson are beginning to rub off on little Marie! The (Grandis) Gang's all Here!

Well, first post of 2025, huh? Not a bad first piece I'll say. Anyways, it's been a hot minute since I've drawn any Nadia fanart, hasn't it? Well, I just didn't have the itch to do it again until recently, thanks in no small part to me getting my good friend @guardianoftheearth into it recently. The Grandis Gang are some of his favorite characters so far, so I felt like doing fanart of them 'cus hey, I've never drawn them before and I thought it'd be fun! And well... it was extremely fun drawing them! Unfortunately I couldn't add the Gratan, but hey, maybe next time I'll do that.

Happy Holidays from the Beanstalk Project crew!

Happy holidays everybody! I feel like now is as good as time as any to crank out a Christmas drawing for you all! Or in the case for this 'verse, a YULE drawing! I'd imagine the post-canon, Rose Red would be elated to learn that the upcoming Yule would be Jack's very first ever, coming from Wales, he wouldn't have celebrated it after all, it'd be seen as an "Anglo-Saxon thing" to him until now!

I will say though, this drawing is kind of a mix between post-canon and non-canon; post-canon in that yes, they would end up celebrating Yule later on, but it's also non-canon because of their outfits and the fact that it's a Christmas drawing. Y'got all that? Okay, here's some cute stuff for your night, and I wish you all a happy holiday season.
