I mostly read One Piece but I’ve been getting around to watching Egghead episodes and the animation truly is just so good. It’s such a treat to have been a fan ever since…like, the summit war lmao, and seeing these changes. Also Doflamingo scene animated soon (starts tweaking)<3

Hello everyone! This is the: 2nd version of this intro post. I go by N.A, I’m a university student. PSA: I’ve had this blog since I was eighteen years old, which was a couple of years ago, so some of my old posts might seem cringey/strange/don’t make any sense with the person I am now. I am the owner of @bimbopieced which is my One Piece character-based writing blog. Both this and the previous mentioned blog are sideblogs. I follow back/react from a blog I’ve since moved from, and stopped using around 2018. I am more active on my writing blog. Both blogs are NOT spoiler free. I draw and write, but mostly draw. I love writing about: Nami & the Donquixote brothers. 🍊

I’ve been mostly active on @bimbopieced lately (go follow 🌀 hypnotizing you go check it out 🌀 it’s my totally cool totally fun writing blog 🌀 so here r a few WIPs to incentive you all to stick around.

I think about Doflamingo -> I read up on him, theories, facts I had forgotten etc -> I get THEE urge -> I reread astra inclinant -> I cry a whole lot -> I take a break at chapter 12, unable to gather the guts to keep going. Every single time 😭

First post deserves a little anecdote on my first ever experience with One Piece. Funny to say I first heard about it through a short novel I read for free online. I was around 9-10 and obsessed with finding adventure novels to read, but being young and not so resourceful I turned to the home computer to try and find some free books online. I didn’t know a single word of English and read the title in French and thought it made sense for a book about pirates to be called « one coin »…

Anyways, it’s only a couple of years later that I first started the anime (around 2013-14, when I was 13) and realized that the little short novel I had read was in fact based on a manga. I wouldn’t start reading the actual manga until many MANY years later.

Now for the actual post : I always wondered why the anime didn’t start with this scene of Luffy stabbing himself which I find infinitely more telling of his character than what they actually went for anime wise.

I think the scene that actually introduced the anime also shows off Luffy’s courage and determination, so not so bad when u actually think about it. Also, my first impression of Shanks had been so overly positive that seeing him in recent chapters is somewhat bittersweet. Maybe all his wholesomeness was stored in the straw hat…

Now about THEE character whom I think is really worth mentioning in this chapter: Ben Beckman. Back then, as well as now, I saw him as the coolest in that first chapter. I think he sets a pattern/theme of what a first mate should be like that is more or less respected throughout the whole story. I assume that Ben Beckman’s personality and how he operates with his captain, as well as in general, is what makes Luffy pick Zoro as his first mate. After all, he promised to become a great pirate like Shanks, and it only makes sense that he’d use Beckman as a blueprint to judge of his first mate’s character. Of course, there will be many more reasons, but I think this introduction of what a first mate is like is not innocent. Also I feel it is relevant to mention that in the French translation, Luffy uses « vice-captain » to refer to Beckman…much to think about<3 (it’s not secret that I’d argue Zoro is the vice-captain as well, but I won’t discuss this until much later).

I always thought Shanks’ outfit was nothing short of cunty…I mean look at those bedazzled flip flops. And Luffy….what are you holding there…

Hello! I’m the owner of this blog, as well as @bimbopiece ; I go by N.A and I’m a university student. Since this, as well as my main One Piece blog, are sideblogs, I like/follow back from a blog I’ve since moved from. (you’ll know when you come across that notification teehee)

This blog is dedicated to the character writing in One Piece. I will be reading chapters in order, but I’ll be skipping a few chapters/arcs if I deem them less interesting. I will also frequently refer to more recent chapters and future arcs as a form or referencing, so this blog isn’t completely spoiler-free. I have no background in literary studies or anything of the sort, so this blog is gonna be a collection of my opinions and thoughts.

English is my third language, and although I am fluent, sometimes I will mix up my french and English grammar/syntax. FEEL FREE to correct me if I do so. I will be reading chapters in both languages, but I’ll make sure to translate the important lines to English when I do read them in French.
