i want it to be put on record that when i posted this to tiktok, i did not think it would blow up, nor did i ever imagine that the ship name would be "billfiddlesford"
the council decided that name without my consent, but i do appreciate the whimsy of it /j
i made these comics as a joke with myself about "what if fidds just got tired of bill's nonsense and teased him 24/7 bc Bill's a menace but Fiddleford grew up on a farm" type of thing, which has now spiraled.
also bc consider; I want Fiddleford to have a win? i want him to be happy and healthy and also in a polyamorous gay marriage with his college friend and his muse, nothing too dramatic
My fav little Kiyotaka headcanon that I have is that someone shows him a crappy magic trick like coin behind the ear and ofc he calls it stupid and dumb but he’s actually kinda freaked out and spends hours searching up how one does it and so he gets 100x more annoying cuz now he’s pulling off all these magic tricks on people and he won’t stop. He thinks he’s just so cool and mysterious and then right after doing one he breaks the magic behind it and goes into a tangent on how one does the trick, imagine you ask him for a pencil and he pretends to pull it out of your ear… for the 10th time that week, he’s not even mad that you keep forgetting a pencil either.
Eventually everyone gets fed up and they create a complex scheme where they show him their own trick but they do some fuckery and when Kiyotaka asks them how they did it they don’t tell him so there’s a point where he gets so frustrated that he swears off ever doing another trick and goes back to calling them childish and dumb.
I'm Algonquin/Ojibwe and this is a spirit that comes from our teachings.
As a young child, the elders taught me to never even SPEAK its name, to not even sing its songs. When we sang a song about it during drumming group one year, we all got in trouble.
You do not spell the word or speak the word.
It's NOT a "cryptid" or a "spooky story" for white people to appropriate.
Its bearly spoken about in our own communities, and even then, only very carefully.
Again, not because its "creepy" but because its respected and something in our traditions that is not played around with; so its certainly not for non-ojibwe/algonquin people to speak about whatsoever. Period.
