Has anyone ever made this connection? Both wear a mask of shadow, and both have a shadowy grabby head. Only difference is one is good, and one is evil. Midna is good (even tho she starts off kinda selfish and sassy) and Makuta is evil, no doubt about it.

Mazaex the Free

Mazaex, much like many male Zortixx lived a life of a slave is Xia. Until the recent reformation of Spherus Magna and the destruction of the Matoran Universe Robot, He has found his freedom.

Now he works as the face of the Nu Order of Makuta, an organization reformed to be what the original Order was originally and supposed to be. For the moment it's successful in that, but people grow skeptical. But as Mazaex re-assures them with his kind actions and out there personality.

After revamping the hell out of Racasix I was ready to approach Verocia and give her a similar treatment. However, what initially began as a desire to have the system wedge attached to the torso by something better than two 1/2 pins (which caused it to come off if you so much as brushed it with your finger) ended up exploding into a complete and utter total rework of everything below her shoulders and exponential increase in the amount of system I was using for this build. I changed fucking everything, and it took multiple days to finally figure everything out. Verocia is now, somehow, even more of a rework than the Racasix build was, which means that that build I posted, as part of my standardized Vortixx build set, is now outdated. Yes. Outdated. Within a 4 day period. All because I wanted a system wedge to not fall off. I also want to elucidate on Verocia's design philosophy a bit. Thanks to Greg saying Vortixx are basically primarily black, and silver works incredibly well with that, the vast majority of Vortixx MOCs tend to follow that trend. I have *never* been okay with this. I stan the green mofo that Roodaka killed. I will not accept the litany of black and silver. So she was gonna be an off the wall colour. After establishing that baseline, and running a very Roodaka-ish design philosophy tools wise by Bobthedoctor, I decided that the primary two inspirations for Verocia would be two iconic female protagonists: Samus Aran, who's zero suit is the basis for the colours and shapes, and Bloodrayne, for whom I owe the idea of arm mounted flip blades.

So of course I had to build a giant fuckoff arm cannon for her. I don't know if the cannon will be...Ahem, *canon* to her appearance in my AU, as I don't know how to implement it into the story and whether to have her lose an arm or not, but it is decidedly awesome and hammers home the whole Samus Aran aesthetic. Zero suit Vortixx. Vortixx Prime. Unfortunately, if I really want the arm cannon to work I would have to completely change her colour scheme and shoulder armor, so this isn't as complete as the reference could be. Still, fucking awesome.

So what the fuck did Roodaka mean by marriage?

This was like. a Thing in Web of Shadows. Literally Sidorak's primary motivation is he wants that vortussy, but the horny vibes are actually just that: vibes. Despite the general way that Roodaka is, there's no implication of reproduction or physical attraction, not even a chaste peck on the cheek (although let's be real there would be tongue involved). Honestly, bringing in the Romance Isn't Canon sledgehammer isn't even necessary for the vibes to be there that this needs to be more than just for romance.

So what does marriage actually mean to them if it's debatably romantic in the first place? Obviously political marriages happen in humans all the time, even if they're not considered the norm any more, but I'd wager that for societies so heavily structured around industry and profit as Xia and Stelt, I think it actually makes a lot more sense for marriage to have originated as a form of political or business agreement in the first place - a binding of two people and a unison if their assets for further gain for the two of them. It could literally be like merging or buying another company, or bringing someone into a position of power for their acumen in a way that is more solidly enshrined than typical employment. There's probably weird other shit going on because to be honest I'm not entirely clear on what the point of human marriage is either, but there's a lot to chew on while still having it make sense that Roodaka can lead Sidorak around by his dick for the entirety of 2005 if his dick is recontextualised as a profit motive.

DH2005 Moc (2/3): Revenant

Once a feared and respected military leader with incredible strength, limited teleportation, and self-healing abilities from a distant land, Revenant was killed by an ambush when his island was attacked by Vortixx and his body was recovered by Vortixx scientists. These scientists quickly discovered even in death his body was attempting to repair itself. They helped the process along, adding the most advanced cybernetic enhancements they could create, and what remained was an incredibly powerful almost-alive cyborg monstrosity with near invulnerability, very high tolerances to pain and physical damage, and a lust for bloodshed. Despite effectively pulling him back from death however, Revenant held absolutely no love for the Vortixx, as they had all but wiped out his people, bulldozing most of his homeland to build a research outpost. He was loaned to the Dark Hunters on several occasions as a nearly unkillable one-man army, and at one point was given an offer to stay with them. He has been faithfully working with them ever since, using his superior knowledge as a commander and formidable abilities to lead teams of Hunters into extreme combat situations.

Say hello to my second and largest era-appropriate Dark Hunter build! I’m really pleased with how he turned out, and once again he’s completely faithful to the challenge save for those pesky 4L axles with stop. I think a goblin came into my house and stole as many 4L axles as he could or something. Anyway despite being so tall his construction is surprisingly very sturdy, and I’ve never been able to achieve such a thick barrel chest like this before. It goes to show how useful bohrok head pieces and Toa mata torso can be when you think about them for a bit! Some fun details about him are the cybernetic eye, and the claw design that actually snaps shut very satisfyingly! Also, as a fun bit I’m going to be putting him beside both the other Dark Hunters I made for this challenge to show just how big he came out.

In 2001, right after Bionicle wave 1 was released, I tried to draw my own Kanohi mask designs. Nothing spectacular and I wasn´t satisfied with it back then. Now I revisited them and made actual 3d versions. I hope, I could capture some of the mystical vibe of the first generation. Later masks tended to be more futuristic and overdesigned, the originals felt like ancient artifacts.
