Even if it is shit with no real context attached, you’ve GOTTA chunk it. the chunks can be arbitrary, but it can be useful to create context even when there isn’t any (pneumonics, random associations, etc). You can’t memorize 50 terms at once, but you CAN memorize, like 5-7 pretty efficiently.

For the actual memorization, you do unfortunately have to figure out what works best for you. But for me, writing something out is really useful because i’m doing an action and seeing the term represented visually. I have a small whiteboard and I will just write 5 terms over and over again. Or create like, a sporcle quiz and just do it over and over again. memorized a lot of shit accidentally that way.

the memorization process usually goes something like this for me:

- memorize chunk 1 (write out all the terms with your reference, then slowly try to do it from memory without looking)

- memorize chunk 2

- try to see if you can still do chunk 1 (if not, go back and restart from step 1)

- put 1 + 2 together until both become basically a superchunk ™

- rinse and repeat

Do you have tips for memorization of a lot of raw data? A lot of stats, geography, gk etc with no real understanding attached to it?

I’m a real forgetter I do not know how to do this either
