Jamareo “Jam” Artis
Written by: Imani Morgan
Jamareo “Jam” Artis was born in Wilson, NC on October 3, 1989, his amazing career took off in 2009 after appearing as a contestant and winning MTV’s Making His Band with P. Diddy.
The journey didn’t begin there, he began playing the bass at the tender age of 9 and the passion never left. Jamareo gigged his way through the churches and music venues of North Carolina, while studying music theory and immersing himself in the styles of Jaco Pastorius, James Jamerson, Pino Palladino, Marcus Miller, and Victor Wooten. Jam Artis has worked with Monica, P. Diddy, Bruno Mars, and more.
His musical talent can be heard through music like the 2014 Uptown Funk debut with Bruno Mars along with 5 time Grammy Award winning Mark Ronson; a Project that took months to complete and spent 14 consecutive weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Those knowing Jamareo personally can attest to his graceful nature, quirky sense of humor, warmth, and kindness.
He still makes time to visit home, support local artists, and shout old friends on their rise to stardom.
From the author: North Carolina is home to some of the most amazing talent and is often overlooked and underwritten. Bistro 365 makes a conscious effort to acknowledge all artists from every artistic genre known to man.
