I have some news for members of the united states armed forces who feel like they are pawns in a political game and their assignments being unnecessary.

Sticking my neck out here fully aware there might be a noose or guillotine waiting, but the problem with the knee-jerk reaction of believing victims in an absolutist way is that some people are only pretending to be victims when they are in fact not. Believing every callout or allegation you hear without checking sources, critical thinking, and considering what motives are involved is a trap. I say this with compassion and sympathy as a victim. I say this as someone who has been gaslighted. This does not negate the need to have awareness that some people will leverage your sympathy for victims to malicious ends, nor your responsibility to respond rather than react with snap judgments. This isn't about anything, by the way; it's a nonspecific opinion I've held for a very long time. You can apply it to whatever the current news or discourse is regardless of the timing at which you read this post.
