Us writers, let’s have a discussion. There’s a thought that’s been bubbling in my head for a while, and I’m not sure how true it is, so I’d like some responses. That thought is this: The fundamentals of color theory also apply to emotional tone.

For example, making a story dark and bleak and depressing all the way through can be muddy, but adding a few spots of emotional brightness not only gives readers a place to rest, but lets the depressing parts hit harder for the contrast.

This is also why, to use superheroes as an example, the Death of Gwen Stacy is a big character-defining moment for Spiderman (a dash of grimdark mixed in with bright happy antics), but none of the cape comic deaths in the last 20 years really meant anything, even for minor characters who didn’t get revived later (instead of using grimdark as a highlight for the optimistic superheroes, it became a muddy confusing tonal mess).

Doctor Who had a similar problem with season 5 on, the other way, where the happiness/comedy got too much and muddied up the stories about aliens killing people.

Me again, I leveled up my art material studies!

You can see the old set above and the new set below, theyre about a year part although it seems liek much more! All I’ve had sine the first set was job offers and a range too, of working on Willy Wonka to London game art stuff! To more recently with childrens attire and Mobile game’s from america, and though I hadnt taken my chances on most of them its only made more available to me and helped me grow and develop my skills!

So here’s the latest level up, I still had the old materials on my pinned twitter until recently, so I guess ill replace them with the new ones!
