Matt had an amazing last day :) and I miss him so much, but I'm glad I was able to give him 17 years of love 🖤🐈⬛ I stayed awake and held him for a couple of nights, so he was never alone. He drank plenty of water and milk, I just wish he had an appetite for food.
Our orange cat with the cone is named Ollie. He's loved Matt since he was a kitten, and also wouldn't leave him alone lol.
We took him to the house I grew up in, and he got so so excited when he saw the old trees he used to look at and explore.
We took him to our towns best lil ice creamery so he could have a pup cup of whip cream, but he wasn't interested.
Then we drove around the woods for hours. We just had a long slow drive, where he could bask in the sunlight in the car and look at all of the trees.
Then we took him to the vet, turned on his favorite music, and let him go to sleep. He passed on 1/3, at sunset around 4:40pm. I miss you so much, Matt. I'm excited for you to come home 💔

I'm not doing okay. My oldest cat Matt is dying, and is passing soon. He's 17, he's been my cat since I was 7 years old. I named him Matt because I was tired and wanted to sleep on a mat when we got him, so there's little kid logic for you lmao.
He gives the best hugs. He gives me hugs every day after school or work, and if he ever uses too much of his claws all you have to do is touch his paw and he'll be gentle🩷
He learned to play fetch by stealing pencil grippers, and even when pencils became dead to me we kept buying them so Matt could play fetch. Even as a young cat he had arthritis, so he would run and you'd hear his little knees pop pop pop as he trotted along.
He loved going outside to nom on the grass, that's all he really wanted to do. That and sit in your lap, he's a lap cat after all!!
He's the mother hen among the cats. He would interrupt fights between other cats by putting himself in the middle. Ollie and Captain are smitten for him, and they headbutt him every day for love. Idk how Ollie is going to cope
He's my babies best friend. One of her first words was cat, spoken like "cAAt" (she's said "Matt" a few times!) But she loves to toddle over to him anytime she has a snack she wants to share. She gets so excited to see him, and I hate how shes too young to remember him. He taught her how to be gentle and easy with her hands, and I'm so so grateful for his patience with her.
He made sure I wasn't alone, and it never felt like he would leave. I love you so much, and I'm going to cherish every second until you're gone and every moment we had after 🖤
