now that the summer hikaru died is on netflix and getting more attention i predict that there's going to be a wave of people saying that it should be more explicitly gay but i think anyone who says that is missing the point tbh. the crux of it all is that the real hikaru died before yoshiki could admit that he loved him and now he has to spend every day with the living breathing reminder of that. it's about the yearning, the grief for something that could have been and now never will be. mourning in silence and always wondering what it would have been like if you were brave enough to be true to yourself

also four chapters in yoshiki sticks his entire arm into a slit in hikaru's chest and hikaru blushes and says it feels good so idk theyre not exactly being subtle here. tbh. this is the love as consumption anime guys

Completely relatable for Yoshiki to give in to his attachment to the not-Hikaru so early on. the summer hikaru died is a horrible tragedy about being the only gay people in your hometown and how that complicates the experience of realizing your feelings for someone, the sense of isolation and otherness you feel growing up and knowing that youre different. it's also the series where a teenage boy falls off a cliff and dies because he stopped to look at a tree shaped like a sexy lady. im not kidding btw that's literally how original hikaru died. that's the inciting incident of this whole series. he went AWOOGA and ate shit so bad he died in the forest and that's how he got replaced by an eldritch entity. anyway everybody should watch the anime the first ep is out now

What is her fault? She used to cry about the silliest stuff or about a new shiny toy, now she cries because she goes to sleep hungry every night. She gets food in priority whenever we have some, but even giving her two meals a day requires a miracle. As for us, one meal every other day has become normal.
