VADUVA, MAVIS.
.
“yes, of course the movie.” mavis said with a awkward giggle, “how old do you think i am?”
“Well like witches exist, so I imagine that like people who are immoral are too. And plus I never, ever guess a lady’s age.”

Nick pulled a face, like he’d eaten something sour. Tilting his head to inspect the scene again, he replied: “Nah. I feel like if you can’t tell by now, you’re on your own kid. You always have been,” he said in a sing-song. “Taylor Swift, always right.”
“That’s true. She does speak words of wisdom. Or well sings them. Besides, this is entertaining for everyone.” Max let out a loud laugh and grinned. “Are you a big fan of Taylor then?” Max didn’t like admitting that he did like Taylor, but well. “Anyways, people watching is always fun, right?”

❛ the multiverse ? on no no , i didn't mean to propose anything quite so complicated . this one is enough on it's own ! ❜ the blonde noted , chuckling at her own comment . ❛ i see … in that case , what other versions of yourself do you reckon exist in another universe ? have you thought about those ? ❜
“I like to think that there are multiple places where I exist? Absolutely terrifying.” He let out a laugh. Max did like to think there was a universe that he never lit the candle or had after you know he’d already slept with someone. “I like to think there’s a universe where I haven’t made so many dumb mistakes.”

Her eyebrows furrowed a little in concern as he did the exact opposite of what she said. “Max — I had no idea people were after you,” she said curiously. “What kind of trouble have you gotten into?” Serena couldn’t help the slightly stern tone in her voice.
Max shook his head. He didn’t need to drag someone else into his problems. “It’s... complicated. I did something kind of stupid because I didn’t think witches were real. Which I guess is probably dumb on my part. But really? Curses aren’t real. Anyways. There was a candle and I lit it and these witches were released. No idea where they are or how to get rid of them.”

BEAUMONT, MARIE.
song rec: macarthur park - donna summer
❛ a drink and a trip to the dance floor do sound fun, ❜ marie nodded, giving him the once over. he seemed a little awestruck amid all the excitement. his eyes wandering to and fro while hesitation or the absence of something held him glued to the bar height table. she didn’t know what was the matter really, they had just met earlier that night. mutual friends and what not. ❛ yes, of course. whatever you want. ❜ she reassured, patting his hand gently before leaving to the bar.
she was gone for a few minutes, returning with his jack and coke and a solar flare for herself. ❛ here you go. ❜ she set the drink in front of him, smile soft. her eyes traveling to the dance floor briefly. ❛ the music is really good, ❜ marie began looking over at him. ❛ do you want to dance after we finish our drinks? might do you some good to move a little … no rush on finishing your drink though … we can just talk too? ❜ marie asked amid stirring her drink.
“I have to admit that I’m not that big of a drinker.” He laughed. “But I don’t know. I need something fun tonight.” So he felt a little guilty at the idea that he was having fun when there were things to do to resolve the issues that he’d created. Max wasn’t going to solve them in one night though. So fun was fun. And this was fun. “Okay. Well, I guess.” Max followed her, not entirely sure what he was doing here. It felt like he was just generally struggling these days and honestly, he shouldn’t feel so guilty for having a bit of fun.
Max waited for her to return and bit on his lip as she returned with his drink. “Yeah, this is really cool music!” he exclaimed. “Oh, yeah. I have the best dance moves.” He didn’t, but he liked to pretend that he did. “After drinks. Good idea.” Max smiled at her. “What do you want to talk about?” he asked, moving his gaze towards her rather than on the dance floor.

“Yeah like carnival games! There’s some down at the pier but it’s just cooler when it’s at a festival. I can’t describe the vibes of a festival. Oh, no. I’ve had regular nachos.”
“Huh. I’ve never really been that good with those sorts of games.” Max shrugged. “But I guess I could go for some games and good food. Well, you should try them. They’re really good.”

BEAUMONT, MARIE.
status: open, location: gay bar, time: night, song rec: pearls - jessie ware
❛ I THINK IT’S TIME FOR ANOTHER DRINK, ❜ the edges of marie’s ruby woo pouts embraced near empty glass as she drank the last of la fée verte. hips swinging in effortless tempo with irresistible melody echoing throughout.
new groove was marie’s favorite weekly event to attend when back in elias. the pours were generous, the performers beyond incredible and there was no better dj-ing drag queen than the empress herself.
everything, absolutely everything marie loved was in this one place — art, fashion and music you could dance to.
her gaze wanders towards the bar, assessment of crowd to bartender ratio brief before her attention returned to present company. ❛ what would you like? my treat, my treat! ❜
Max needed to let lose and have a bit of fun. These days his life felt really like he had to prioritize things other than fun. Being an adult who set of a curse was the worst thing. He hated being responsible and honestly, going to a bar was a lot more fun than sitting around reading about ancient curses. Not that he was super helpful when it came to that either.
Drag events were his favorite to attend because he liked seeing all the people dressed in really cool fashion and having fun. “Is it?” he asked, looking around at all the people dancing and having fun, mesmerized. He kind of wished that someone would ask him to dance.
He looked up when she said my treat, clearly feeling bad that he wasn’t really paying attention to her when there were so many distractions. “Um... Jack and coke?” Max had never been a big drinker, so he didn’t know what to try. “If that’s okay.”

serena pursed her lips, her eyes flickering from the side then back to her companion. “ don’t look now, but … they’re looking at you. ”
Max looked around, trying to spot where the person was looking at him. “Who’s looking at me?” he didn’t see anyone. “You can’t say that to me when there are people after me.”

Max turned to look where the person was pointing. “I don’t think they know.” He covered his hand over his mouth, shaking his head. “I think someone should tell them. Seems only right.”

“What kind of phone do you have?” he asked. “I have a phone bank for an iPhone, but it doesn’t have a thing for an Android. And there’s a coffee shop a few blocks away.”

DIMITRIOU, MEG.
˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥
Was this boy hero material? Meg didn’t put much effort into hiding how she looked him up and down, analysing him. Not many could match up to Hercules, but she was going to give the boy credit for trying. “Candles?” she smirked. “Don’t tell me your whole evil thing started because you lit a bunch of bad candles.” She’d heard of cursed necklaces and golden fleeces, but cursed candles were a whole other thing. “Solid plan. Look at you go. At this point, leave everyone alone in the romantic sense. You have enough shit going on in your life without trying to be in love.” At the mention of him being dead being a solution, she just arched an eyebrow. “Yeah. Well…” Meg picked up her coffee cup and tilted it up, drinking the last of it before setting it back on the table. “You want a final piece of advice? Flow to where the powerful magical people are. Try to get one of the good ones so you know you won’t be ripped off.”
Curses, witches, and evil villains was something that Max only recently felt like he had started to learn about. He was trying to learn more, but kind of at a standstill when finding out information on what to do about his situation. Looking into the history was for sure a good place to start. “Yeah, kind of. I didn’t think curses were real so I lit a candle and turns out witches are real. Just in case that ever happens to you.” He shrugged. “Not everything is about romance. Not everything is about love, you know. Sometimes you just gotta solve the problem and not worry about all of that. Allison is cool and all, I just messed up and we should be focusing on fixing that. Plus, I’ve got to protect my sister.” He was mostly concerned with that. “Wait, how do you know who the good, powerful magic people are? I feel like there are so many people here. Do you have suggestions?”

“You’ve never had a crush on two people at once?” Max blinked and looked at the person to his side. “It’s beautiful. Like two people who aren’t supposed to fall in love do. I think that’s the point of it all. Doomed love. I don’t know anything, but I did see the movie with Claire Danes.”

❛ THIS MAY SOUND LIKE a ridiculous question , but … do you believe in the butterfly effect ? ❜
“No, I don’t think I do. To be honest, the butterfly effect kind of confuses me. I get it, but I think I like the multiverse idea better. The butterfly effect seems very one timeline-centric.”

BINX, THACKERY.
~ ☆ ~
a soft laugh left him at max’s protest. “my apologies - i’m sure you read plenty. perhaps i’ll ask your recommendation for next week’s book club.” he hummed, half-teasing. he wasn’t really about to judge max’s reading habits - or lack thereof - but the boy’s response was entertaining nonetheless.
thackery’s countenance softened slightly, though, as max admitted that he was indeed here for research purposes. “yes, of course. history books are an excellent place to start.” he nodded. “i’ve thumbed through my fair share of volumes since coming to elias myself, so i’m sure i can pull a few relevant selections from the shelf for you, if you’d like.” he offered, gesturing for max to follow him as he lead the way towards the history books in question.
Honestly, Thackery was the only reason that Max believed all this stuff about witches and curses. He was sure there was an explanation for a lot of the strangeness about Elias that wasn’t magic. Of course, he believed it now. Especially after everything he did to unleash a curse. “Yeah, but I don’t think you’d enjoy it.” Max read. Of course he did. The books he enjoyed weren’t books that most people probably enjoyed. “The other day I read a book about a band. Like a fictional band. It was a romance.” He didn’t really like talking about books.
He had to admit that his research skills were subpar, but he didn’t want people to think he wasn’t pulling his weight. Perhaps some people really needed to be informed about the sisters. “Should I start with research on witches or curses or maybe... I don’t even know.” He followed Thackery towards the history books. “Curses probably won’t be my expertise though.”
