(he’s also the philosophy teacher, which none of us currently take, so he inserts philosophical discussions into our assignments)

i made the point that morality is generally subjective, and my teacher was very respectfully disagreeing with me because he’s an adult, unlike other teachers who would just go “um...no” and call on someone else. idk it was just very refreshing

i like to conveniently forget the fact that the eldest of my mom’s six siblings (all of whom are left-leaning, mostly moderate) married a staunch republican and one of their daughters, my cousin double my age who is married and lives in what is essentially a sundown town in connecticut, really loves me like i’m her sister

we were talking about the debate (which i watched all of and she watched none of) and she said to me

“haha remember I am on the opposite side of political stuff from you guys and the rest of the family. I am republican. Do I support trump? A tad bit. Do I support joe? A tad bit. Do I know who I’m voting for? Not until the day of”
