     Daniel nodded his head, eyes looking over his lovers breathtaking features. The serene feeling that was taking over his was overwhelming. It was the first time he felt comforted in weeks and he couldn’t help how he melted into the warmth of the other behind him.       When he heard Blaine’s question, he moved his head so it was resting against Blaine’s shoulder. A part of him wondered if Blaine would actually drink the water this time around. He had little faith given the past few times. “Eventually you’d have to cut ties… they’ll notice after a couple of years that you aren’t… you know, aging anymore. But that doesn’t have to happen now, you can have more time with them… another two, maybe three years, I think.”

Blaine sighed, biting his lip a little at the answer he was given. “I- What if I just...told them? I mean...They wouldn’t tell anyone. I wouldn’t have to lose them so soon that way, and they could meet you...I mean...it would be weird I guess because...I mean, technically, at some point we were brothers, but we’re not really anymore? Are we?” he asked, biting his lip.

Blaine leaned his head against Daniel’s breathing in his scent. “I just don’t want to lose you. I never want to put you through this again. But the thought of not having my Mom...I thought I’d have a long time before that happened...” he trailed off, looking into Daniel’s eyes. “I just don’t know what to do.”

     Daniel turned his head to the side, looking back at Blaine and leaning back so his forehead rested against Blaine’s jaw. He closed his eyes and let his lover’s words comfort him. He knew this feeling wouldn’t ease over until Blaine was eternal, frozen in time with Daniel for forever. The thought made his lips curl up into a small smile. After the past couple of weeks and being surprised to find that Blaine hadn’t left this life again, he knew he couldn’t lose him. This version of Blaine, this was the one he had to spend forever with, for more reasons than that one.      When Blaine whisperd his name, Daniel pulled back some to look at his lover again. “Yeah, B… it is.” He answered with no hesitation, his tired eyes staying fixated on the other’s. “…I missed you so much.” He whispered, gaze dropping as he moved so he was resting his forehead against Blaine’s jaw again. “All I do when we’re apart is worry about you, you’re on my mind day and night and I can’t sleep. You’re so far away and anything can happen– anything has happened, in the past… I love you, I can’t lose you again, B… I can’t.” He nuzzeled his nose against the other’s jaw. “This is really what I want… what I need.” 

Blaine bit his lip as he listened to Daniel talk about how worried he was all the time. When he felt Danny’s nose against his jaw, he turned, taking the man’s face in his hands. “Hey, hey, hey. I’m right here. I love you, too, and I’m not going anywhere. I promise you,” he took a second to think about what all this would mean. How much this would change for him, and what he would lose.

“What happens with my parents?” he asked quietly. “I mean...Do I have to cut myself off from them? I just- I wanna know everything before I get into a situation I can’t change. Honestly, they’re my only hesitation. I mean, they can be a pain in the ass, but they’re still my mom and dad, ya know? I...I want to give you this Danny. And I will. We can do it right after our bath if you want. I just...I need to know what happens with my parents after this happens.”

     Daniel’s eyes fell shut at the feeling of Blaine playing with his hair. It was easy to get lost in the little gestures, especially when he’d felt so close to the brink of loosing it all again. The thought that this was all real, that Blaine was here and he hadn’t lost him again, it made him take the other’s free hand in his, threading their fingers together.      The question on his mind was one he was scared to ask, but he knew he had to. The past couple of weeks had been torture for him and if he could keep it from happening again, why wouldn’t he? He smiled just a little, the gesture not reaching his eyes just yet. He turned his head so he was able to look up at Blaine a little as his head lay on his shoulder. “I hate that you’re seeing me like this.” He started, expression turning into that of embarrassment or shame. “I– I’ve been without you for so long and when I have you, you– you’re taken from me again and… I don’t wanna lose you again, B.” His brow furrowed, attempting to bite back a sob that wanted to pour from his lips at the mere thought. “I can’t.” He whispered.      “What if– what… what if I asked you to drink the water? Today. W– would you do it?”

Blaine sighed and shook his head, kissing the man’s forehead. “Don’t, baby. You’re supposed to be able to be weak around me when you need to. You’ve been through hell these last few weeks. I’m here to take care of you,” he whispered. He hushed Daniel then, holding him tighter and running his fingers through his hair. “Shh..Babe, you’re not gonna lose me. I promise. I’m not going anywhere. It’s okay. I’m right here.” He hated knowing Daniel was this upset when he didn’t have to be. God, he wished he’d been able to sneak out of the house sooner, maybe Daniel wouldn’t have been so upset.

At sound of Daniel’s questions, Blaine drew in a deep breath. He knew this was coming. He just didn’t think Daniel would have asked this soon. “Danny...” he whispered, taking a second to gather hiss thoughts. “Are you sure? I mean, what about waiting until I’m 21? That’s...That was the deal we made, baby...Is this really what you want?”

“I love you, too.” Daniel whispered back after returning the kiss. He then watched as Blaine walked to the tub, stepping in and sitting down before calling him over. He smiled softly, stepped out of his pants and walked over to the tub where he stepped in and sat down between the other’s legs, resting against him and reveling in the warmth and closeness he missed more than he could express. 

His eyes fell shut and he let out a quiet, but content and relieved sigh as Blaine wrapped his arms around him, holding him tight against his chest. The feeling of the other’s lips against his skin, Daniel could only describe as electrifying and comforting. His hands rested somewhere on Blaine’s arms, his eyes staying closed even when Blaine voiced a question. He didn’t know what he wanted to eat, food had been the last thing on his mind for days now. “… Surprise me.” He answered after a couple of moments in thought, finding comfort in the fingers running through his untamed curls. “I’ll eat anything you make anyways.” He promised, a hand running up and down Blaine’s arm a couple of times. “Blaine… can I ask you something?”

Blaine sighed, wishing there was more he could do. More to take away Daniel’s pain and fears. He continued playing with Daniel’s hair as he thought about what to make for Daniel. He needed something healthy. Something that would nourish him and make him full. However, before he could decide on something, Daniel’s small voice pulled him from his thoughts again.

“Of course you can, baby,” he replied, pressing a soft kiss to the other’s neck. “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” Blaine knew it was going to be a long road ahead of them. Daniel had a lot of recovering to do, but Blaine knew that he would be there with the man he loved every step of the way.

Daniel smiled and shut his eyes after Blaine’s promise. He let out a shaky breath. He couldn’t help but wonder if this time would be like every other time before. He’d already suffered through the pain of that reality. Luck was on his side this time around, surprisingly, but he couldn’t keep from thinking that there was the chance that’d he lose him all over again, for real this time. The water crossed his mind, it took everything in him to not mention it right that very moment. He wasn’t prepared to hear that maybe Blaine still wasn’t ready.

Nodding his head, Daniel allowed Blaine to pull him up from his spot on the bed. He returned the kiss, a faint chuckle sounding from his throat. The sound the first since he last saw Blaine a couple of weeks ago. “It’s okay.” He responded with the hint of a smile on his face. If he hadn’t spent the past two weeks thinking Blaine was gone, he’d have ripped both their clothes off, but frankly, he didn’t have the mental energy to do it. It wasn’t until they got to the bathroom that Daniel undid Blaine’s pants for him, pushing them down his hips along with his underwear. The beauty that was Blaine was so… striking, and Daniel couldn’t help but stare at his naked body for a few moments before his brain kickstarted again, and he stripped himself of the rest of his clothes.

Blaine could only smile when he noticed Daniel was staring at him. He blushed, walking forward and snaking his arms around the other’s neck, kissing him softly. “I love you,” he whispered before making his way to the tub and sinking into it. “C’mere,” he said, reaching his arms out for the other.

Once Daniel was in the tub and resting against him, Blaine wrapped his arms around Daniel and held him tight against him, kissing his shoulder and neck. He made sure to hold Daniel as tight as he could to him, as if trying to will the other to believe everything was okay by squeezing him tight. “What do you want for dinner?” he asked quietly after a few moments as he ran his hand through the other’s unruly curls.

Daniel smiled softly when he was told that they could do what he wanted, he couldn’t help but bask in the feeling of the others fingers playing with the hair along his nape. This was all so… comforting. He knew how ridiculous it was to depend on another person as much as he did on Blaine, but by God, he couldn’t help it. Being alone all of those years and experiencing the loss of his soulmate over and over again really messed with him. “I love you, too.”

When Blaine got up, Daniel sat up, too, moving to sit at the edge of the bed. His energy wasn’t at it’s peak, though he felt mentally exhausted more than he did physically. So he stayed sitting, his eyes on Blaine as he went to get the bath started, watching him and thankful that it seemed as though he made an effort to stay visible. It seemed Blaine understood what was happening more than he thought. 

He happily let the other sit on his lap, an arm immediately wrapping around the other as he melted into the kiss, helping when Blaine began lifting his shirt. He pulled it up and over his head, tossing it to the floor. “I missed you, too, B… so much.” He responded, wrapping both of his arms around Blaine as he pressed his face into the nook of the other’s neck, his hands running up under his boyfriends shirt. He sighed contently when he felt the warmth of the other’s skin, furthering proving to Daniel that this was real and not a figment of his imagination. “You aren’t going to leave again, are you?” He asked, his voice sounding small and whispered.

Blaine loved being this close with Daniel. Sitting in his lap, feeling his arms wrapped around his body, it was all just so...comforting. He knew Daniel needed that comfort way more than Blaine did, but still, he felt it, too, and he was thankful. “I’m never going anywhere that I won’t come back. I promise,” he whispered, resting his forehead against Daniel’s.

Blaine helped get his own shirt off, reveling in the moment of having their skin touching. It set him on fire in way he never imagined was possible. “Let’s get you in the bath, huh?” he suggested, backing up off his lap and pulling Daniel up with him. He pulled him in for a kiss, his free hand attempting to try and pull Daniel’s pj pants down. “I’m afraid I’m not going to be able to rip your clothes off of you for awhile...As much as I want to,” he said, smiling a little as he gestured to his broken arm.

Seeing Blaine smile made the corners of Daniel’s lips tug up into a smile, too, mirroring his boyfriends, those words making his smile more sincere. He returned the kiss, the press of Blaine’s lips against his own resonating within him, Daniel licked his lips when they parted. The feeling he got from kissing the other was nothing less than euphoric. 

“Okay.” He answered, looking down at Blaine for a moment before he leaned down until he was pressing his lips against Blaine’s once again. This kiss lasted a few moments longer, Daniel’s lips lingering over the others. He let out a sigh against Blaine’s lips before he pressed one more soft kiss to his lips and pulled away. “I guess we should go and shower then.” He breathed out, knowing it’d make Blaine happy if he ate and showered like he asked. “Can we take a bath, instead?”

Blaine smiled against Daniel’s lips as they pressed against his again and again. At Daniel’s question, Blaine nodded. “We can do whatever you want, baby,” he whispered, curling his fingers around the back of Daniel’s neck to play with his hair. “I love you,” he added, staring up at Daniel with his usual heart eyes he held only for Daniel.

After a few moments, Blaine got up, going to the bathroom to start getting the bath ready. He made sure to stay in Daniel’s line of sight at all times, coming back once the water was warm and filling up the tub. He sat on Daniel’s lap, kissing him as he used his unbroken arm to try and rid Daniel of his shirt. “Missed you,” he mumbled against his boyfriend’s lips.

Daniel let out a huff as he closed his eyes when Blaine kissed his forehead. The comfort and affection he felt from the other was exactly what he needed in that very moment. When he looked at the bigger picture, he couldn’t help but feel as though he couldn’t have been luckier. Blaine was seeing him at his worst and he still wanted to be here with him. He had a choice, and he chose to stick around. The thought had him nuzzling his face into the other’s chest.

“Will you go with me?“ He felt pathetic asking, but he didn’t want to be alone… without Blaine. “I just– I– I don’t wanna be alone…” He futher explained, moving so he was resting on his elbow and looking down at Blaine. 

Blaine only smiled at Daniel’s request. “You couldn’t keep me away,” he whispered, leaning up to kiss Daniel softly. “We’ll shower, and then I’ll fix you whatever you want to eat. I’ll make some cookies, too. I promise,” he said, looking into the other’s eyes.

He brought his hand up the cup the side of Daniel’s face, staring into the other’s golden eyes. God, he was so in love. He really couldn’t believe how lucky he was to find Daniel. His soulmate. The man who had been waiting to be with him forever, and would wait as long as he had to until he got his happy ending. Blaine was determined to make sure he would never have to wait again. Blaine was here. This was the last life of his that Daniel would ever have to live through.

As Blaine reassured him that he was fine, further explaining what it was that happened, Daniel laid back down slowly, eventually resting his head on the others shoulder again. He made sure to stay close, so he was able to feel the warmth of the others very much alive and breathing body. It helped remind himself that this was real, that it wasn’t another hallucination.

“I– I thought I… I thought I lost you again. I thought you were gone… that I’d have to wait years before I–” he cut himself off, his own words effecting him, a quiet sob pouring past his lips as he started crying again. These times were hard on him. He would always tell Blaine that he’d be okay no matter what, but deep down, he knew that without the other… he simply wasn’t and wouldn’t ever be okay. He shut his eyes, hating just how weak he was letting Blaine witness him be. He desperately tried to keep his weaknesses and dependency on the other to himself, afraid to influence Blaine on his decision to spend forever with him, but the scare was too much. It took it’s toll on him emotionally and mentally. There was no hiding it anymore. “How long was I out for?” He asked, desperate to move on, but knowing it wasn’t as simple as that.

Blaine shh’d Daniel immediately when he began talking of losing him, holding him tight against Blaine’s chest. “I’m here, love. Everything is okay,” he whispered, kissing the top of Daniel’s head. Seeing Daniel this way was hard, no doubt, but Blaine was pleased that he’d finally broken through  Daniel’s walls. He wanted to know the other completely. His best, and his broken. He wanted to be there for it all to put it all together when it came crashing down around him. He needed to know, so they could heal together.

“Just a couple hours,” he said, kissing Daniel’s forehead. “You need to eat something, baby. And I’m guessing a shower would probably be a good idea as well.” There was something natural about this. Something easy about Blaine waltzing in here like he owned the place and taking care of Daniel. He had to assume it was because he’d done it so many times before in past lives. He never mentioned it to Daniel, but ever since they’d gotten together, he’d get these strong feelings on what to say at a certain moment. Almost as if someone deep inside him was telling him...teaching him how to be with Daniel. He often referred to it jokingly to himself as his “Danny Senses Tingling.” Still, he knew he had some of his past selves looking after him.

Daniel was almost certain; the Blaine in his head was never here when he woke up, but he felt him beside him and the warmth that radiated off of the other was almost too warm yet he couldn’t bring himself to pull away. He hadn’t lifted his gaze just yet to look the other in his eye, instead he just stayed pressed close against him, his head still resting on his shoulder. After thinking Blaine was gone for two week, the relief he felt was great and all he could do in that moment was bask in the fact that he didn’t have to start all over with Blaine again; that he didn’t lose Blaine, and wasn’t alone.

“I didn’t think you were going to be here when I woke…” He admitted, the arm thrown over Blaine’s middle tightened it’s grip on the other.  “I missed you.” He whispered, the emotion he felt heard in his voice as he spoke. “I missed you so much.” When it dawned on him that Blaine was in an accident. He jolted up enough so he could look down at the other. “Wait. You– you said you were in an accident… wha– that was… it was real… your arm…” He looked down, remembering the cast vaguely, he remembered thinking that it wasn’t real because Blaine wasn’t actually tere.. “B, wha– what happened?”

Blaine sighed at the hopeless tone in Daniel’s voice. “I know,” he whispered, his free arm rubbing Daniel’s back. “I missed you, too.” he added. When Daniel sat up immediately, Blaine looked up at him almost in shock. It took Blaine a minute to fully process what was happening, and then he remembered his arm. He’d taken it out of the sling sometime during Daniel’s nap, so it was just in the cast. “Daniel, breathe, baby” he said softly, bringing his hand up to cup Daniel’s cheek. “I’m fine. A concussion, some cracked ribs, and the broken arm, but I’m fine,” he said, leaning up to kiss Daniel’s forehead.

At Daniel’s question, he sighed. “It was not as bad as it looks, trust me. Some idiot just didn’t pay attention, and came over into our lane and we ran off the road and flipped a couple times. It’s fine though. Everyone is fine. Just- Just come here,” he said, pulling Daniel back down to rest.

The hint of a smile threatened to appear as he listened to Blaine. It was nice to hear. It was comforting and it made him feel a warmth inside that he was lacking since he thought he lost Blaine again. He nodded his head, his arms around the other tightening some in an attempt to keep him from disappearing upon waking up. His eyes felt heavy, the comfort he felt easily enough to make him drift off like he’d been unable to do the past two weeks. “Please be here when I wake up.” He whispered, moving so his body was pressed up tightly against the others, desperately wanting to feel the warmth of the other.

When Blaine began humming, Daniel allowed his eyes to fall shut, the sound eventually lulling him to sleep like he was sure Blaine was intending. “I love you.” He breathed out moments before slipping into unconsciousness.

His eyes eventually fluttered open. He was unsure of how long he’d been out, but immediately his arms that were still wrapped around the other tightened once he felt the other stilled craddled in them. He pressed his face against Blaine’s chest and he felt his eyes well up with tears. “You– you’re really here, aren’t you?”

Blaine sighed, watching as Daniel slowly fell asleep. Nothing would have made Blaine leave his place in Daniel’s arms. Nothing would have been enough to get him to so much as squirm. He needed Daniel to know that not only was it okay to sleep, but that he was here and it was okay to trust that. He was here, and he wasn’t going anywhere.

When the other’s eyes finally fluttered open after several hours, he smiled, looking into his eyes. “Hi, baby,” he whispered, kissing the other’s forehead. He’d stayed awake this entire time just watching Daniel, not wanting to miss if he were to wake up. “Yes, love. I’m really here. I’m fine. Everything is fine,” he whispered, kissing his lips softly. “I love you so so much. It’s okay. Cry if you need to. I’m right here, baby. I’ll always be right here.”

“I love you, too.” Daniel responded simply, nuzzling his face into the other’s chest. The bed felt more comfortable than he remembered recently. Honestly, he hadn’t gotten a good night’s sleeping in days, and with Blaine beside him, he suddenly felt a lot more sleepy than he had before. He’dd felt pretty sleepy already, but he couldn’t sleep, no matter how hard he tried. That seemed to change now because he could already feel his eyes wanting to fall closed as he laid on Blaine’s chest, the sound of his heart beating easily lulling him to sleep. 

He moved to look up at the other, his expression was almost vacant though he was noticeably tired, he was sure. “Real or not… I’m– I’m glad you’re here… with me… right now. I– I missed you. I’m sorry… that I can’t be better for you.”

Blaine shook his head, kissing Daniel’s forehead. “No, no, no. You stop that. You are perfect for me. No matter what. You’re perfect. I’ll always be here to put you back together. Anytime, I promise you. I’ll be here. Just relax for me,” he whispered, kissing Daniel’s curly head again, and rubbing his back softly. “I’m right here. I promise you.”

After a moment, he began humming softly in Daniel’s ear, hoping to lull the man into sleep and get him some rest. He looked so rough and tired he needed to help him in any way he could, and he was determined to do just that. “I love you so much, Danny.”

Daniel heard Blaine. He heard him, but all he did was was nod his head as he crawled into the bed. He wasn’t quite sure if Blaine would be here to follow through, to make sure he showered and ate, but he agreed to placate the other for now, while he was here. As if reading his mind, once they got settled, Blaine’s proposition was left hanging in the air. He hadn’t given thought as to how long they lasted, in the past, there was times they lasted a few hours, but they all inevitably ended when he awoke from sleeping. Which was why he didn’t want to drift off, he didn’t want to wake up to an empty bed with no trace of Blaine having actually been there.

“Sometimes.” He eventually answered before he moved closer to the other, moving to rest his head on his chest so he could listen to his heart beating within. “As long as I stay awake, you’ll be here.” He spoke with certainty, his arms wrapping around the other possessively, as if holding on to keep him from disappearing, as if that would keep him here. “I’ll shower and eat if you stay with me.” He went on, finally responding to what Blaine had said previously. “If you’re still here… I’ll do whatever you want me to do.” 

Blaine sighed. He knew this would be a challenge. Even as Daniel agreed to do what he was asked, Blaine knew getting Daniel to believe that Blaine was really here would be so hard. “Okay,” he whispered, wrapping his arm around Daniel while the other one the man was laying on worked with his hand through Daniel’s hair. “I love you, Daniel. I missed you so much. I’ve been trying to come see you since I got out of the hospital, but my mom was being very protective and not letting me out of bed,” he said, trying to force a bit of normal conversation. However, he knew even before he tried it that it would never work.

Instead, he just kept lying there, holding Daniel as he tried to think of words to say and ways to prove that this was real. That he was real, and that everything was okay. He’d try until he got it right. No matter what it took, he’d try until Daniel trusted and believed him.

Daniel shook his head. “I’m not hungry.” He responded, truthfully. Since the accident, his appetite had been shot. During these time periods, it wasn’t unusual for Daniel to fall into a deep depression, one that had him laying on the floor for hours, unmoving, not eating. Much like his current state. “I just… want you to hold me… that’s it.” 

“Yeah… alright.” He moved slowly to stand as he was asked, not once breaking the contact with Blaine, fearful that if he did, everything– this moment would be over. “I don’t want to sleep though.” He brought up before Blaine did. He was sure he’d ask when the last time he slept was, or if he were tired. Truth was, he was exhausted, but he simply couldn’t sleep, no matter how hard he tried, and now that Blaine was here, he wanted nothing more than to enjoy it while this moment lasted. That meant not sleeping through it. He moved towards the bed, still clinging to Blaine. When the got to bed, he pulled the covers back so they could slip between the sheets, Daniel immediately moving in close to the other.

Blaine sighed. He knew Daniel was traumatized by everything that had happened to him in his life, but Blaine needed him. He needed him to be here with him so they could be together, and he needed Daniel to let Blaine take care of him. “I will,” he said, nodding. “I’ll hold you. I’ll be right here. I promise you. You need to sleep, baby. You need to sleep and eat and shower put on some clean clothes. I know right now you need me to just be here, so I will, but I really need you to take care of yourself a little bit tonight, okay? I promise, I’ll stay with you every second,” he whispered.

As they climbed into bed together though, Blaine just about given up. He knew Daniel wasn’t going to listen to him. He wouldn’t do as he was asked. No matter what, because Daniel didn’t believe Blaine was really here. “Make a deal with me. Two hours. If I’m still here in two hours, you’ll shower and eat before we lay back down to sleep. Two hours is a long time. And, I’ve already been here for about an hour. Your hallucinations don’t usually last for three plus hours, do they?” he asked, cupping Daniel’s face. God, he just wanted to take care of him in every way possible and see that smiling face again.

Another sob tore past his lips when Blaine pulled him in close against him. The mind was a powerful thing, Daniel was aware, but he couldn’t remember the last time one of his hallucinations felt this real. Yet his mind was having a hard time wrapping around the fact that Blaine really was here, and not just in his head. So he nodded his head when he was told to let the other take care of him. He didn’t have the energy to put up a real fight; he felt physically, emotionally and mentally drained. 

When he was asked that last question, he had a hard time trying to recall when the last time he did eat was. He wasn’t even sure if the food in his fridge was any good anymore. “I… I don’t remember.” He answered, honestly. “Don’t leave.” He quickly added, wrapping his arms around Blaine. He had a feeling that the other would insist on making him something to eat, but food was the last thing on his mind, nor did he have an appetite. “Just… lay with me.” He buried his face into the crook of his neck, inhaling Blaine’s scent, the sense of home washing over him. “Please.” He added. “I just want you to hold me… that’s it… just– just hold me… please. Don’t– don’t let me go.”

‘I don’t remember.’ The sound made Blaine’s chest ache in a way he couldn’t stand. Daniel didn’t have to eat anymore. Not to survive anyway. Knowing that, he could have been starving himself since before the wreck. The thought of Daniel going that long without any sort of substance in him...No, he couldn’t die, but he knew that whatever would come from Daniel not eating couldn’t be good.

“Hey, hey, hey. I’m not, okay? I’m not going anywhere. I promise. I’ll be here as long as you need me to be in order for you to really believe I’m here, but baby...You’ve got to eat something, okay? Not now. I won’t- I won’t make you eat right now. I’ll just hold you, but soon, okay? In a couple of hours, I need you to eat for me. Please, my love,” he whispered, kissing Daniel’s forehead. “We’ll lay in our bed for now though, okay? Can you get up for me? You don’t need to lay here on this hard floor, baby.”

As Blaine took his face in his hands, his eyes lifted and he looked up into those all too familiar eyes before dropping to watch those lips form every word spoken. It wasn’t until Blaine was mentioning that he was real and placing his hand on his chest that Daniel looked away from those lips and down at his hand as he felt the other’s heartbeat against his palm. He nodded his head when he was asked if he felt it. Daniel sat and stared at his hand for a few moments, his head hurting as he tried to figure out if this were actually real. 

He knew that Blaine was trying to make him laugh or at least smile, but he couldn’t just yet. He took the other’s hand again, dropping his gaze as he glanced at the floor, looking at nothing in particular. Eventually he looked back up to meet Blaine’s eyes with tears in his own. “I don’t know if you’re really… real, but I… I missed you.” His voice cracked, the emotions stirring up within him too much to not be heard. “I hope you are though… I hope you are really here.” He squeezed Blaine’s hand and pressed his lips together in a tight line, catching sight of the sling craddling the other’s arm. Right. He did mention that. “Is you arm okay? … your head, too?”

Blaine looked at Daniel with every ounce of worry and care a person could ever look at another person with. He couldn’t believe this had been how Daniel had been the last two weeks while he was getting better. He couldn’t believe that Daniel really thought he wasn’t real. That he was just in his head. He didn’t know what to say or think or even feel right now. But, it wasn’t about him. He knew that. This was all about Daniel.

“I missed you, too, baby. I did,” he whispered, kissing Daniel’s forehead as he pulled him close, ignoring the way his arm ached. “I’m fine,” he whispered. “I promise. Just let me take care of you, okay? Don’t worry about me.” However, he already knew that argument was pointless. He could tell that once Daniel really believed this was real that Blaine would never go anywhere Daniel wasn’t, at the very least, lagging behind to keep a watch on him. “I’m really here, baby. I’m really, really here. I promise you.” He paused for a moment before pulling back and looking into Daniel’s eyes. “When was the last time you ate something?” he asked, knowing already that he wasn’t going to like the answer.

Daniel heard Blaine and his words, but part of him knew how fucked up he was already. He’d been here. Wishing Blaine wasn’t in his head, but coming to find out that he was. The feeling of those fingers as they wiped his tears away… he missed that. He thought he lost it, but as he felt that kiss pressed to his forehead it lit a light in his eyes, one that had vanished with no hope of returning. He did as asked without saying anything. He sat up slowly. His eyes felt puffy, and suddenly he began feeling self conscious. He hated this. He hated that he was so broken… that Blaine, if he were really here, was stuck having to put him back together again. There were… so many pieces.

“It is. It’s my favorite.” He responded, though there was still little life to his expression and face in general. “I don’t want you to leave me…” He uttered, taking Blaine’s hand. He needed him. God, he needed him. It wasn’t fair, and it never would be, but that didn’t change the fact that… he needed Blaine the way mere mortals needed air. Without Blaine he wasn’t whole, rather he was empty and it was the worst feeling, one that Daniel eventually got used to. Over time as he waited to meet Blaine again.

Seeing Daniel this way broke Blaine’s heart. He just wanted to hold him and absorb every ounce of pain the man had ever felt. Just wanted to make him happy again. If it were even possible. He knew the things Daniel had been through, not only in the last two weeks, but in the decades that he’d been through this were horrible to say the least. He hoped that eventually he’d be able to make things right. Eventually he’d be able to put Daniel back together permanently.

“Hey, hey, hey,” he whispered, his hand gripping Daniel’s, the other cupping the man’s bearded face as he rested his forehead against the other’s. “I’m never going to leave you. Ever. I know things have been hard with me at school, and I know that they’ve been harder because I’ve taken awhile to get completely used to all of this, but I love you. I love you so much, and I’ll never ever leave you. I swear to you, baby. I’m here. I’m real...Look,” he said, taking Daniel’s hand and putting it against his chest. “You feel that, right? You feel my heart beating? It’s real. I’m here, and I’ll be right here in the morning. I’ll even make you breakfast. I’ll do it one handed. It’ll be a real show,” he teased, alluding to his broken arm, hoping to get at least a smile out of Daniel. “I love you so much, baby. More than anything.”
