Stan and Ford are probably actually pretty intimidating dudes! Like we get the joke at the end of the show with them threatening the bus driver to let Waddles on but---

When Stan takes off his jacket when the sun burns off the morning fog, his arms are peppered with scars, and he's got one right in the center of his forehead. It looks almost like a GSW, but nobody could survive a direct hit there--- right? He's got the voice of a smoker and the swagger of an alcoholic but never drinks or smokes; he speaks Spanish nearly perfectly but when someone asks where he learns he shrugs and goes "I don't know Spanish, idk what you're talking about." He always has at least one knife and his brass knuckles on him.

Ford's got scars, too, and a couple of oddly placed tattoos. He scans every room he enters for exits, and his hand flexes at his side like he's constantly checking for a weapon. He always leans against the wall or makes sure Stan is standing behind him so his back isn't exposed. Someone asks if he's a veteran because of this body language and he flatly answers "no." with no further explanation. Sometimes he talks in languages that don't even sound real. He barely sleeps, sometimes going a day or two without it.

And these two brothers that look like they've seen war but swear they haven't set foot on a (earthly) battlefield go everywhere together, slipping the Stan o' War II through turbulent waters with no issue; they seem to argue with each other at any given time of the day, but all while working perfectly in tandem. They're both polite enough to service workers but mean as fuck to everyone else. They've been banned from several marinas for dumping chemical waste. There are multiple eye witness accounts of them dragging around what look to be wrapped bodies. The police can never catch up to them. There's a niche twitter community out there somewhere that's lowkey obsessed with them in a true crime kind of way.

Mabel and Dipper don't get the hype. They think their grunkles are adorable.

Hiiii. mayhaps, mayhaps.

Anyways, If we’re talking more cannon compliant Ford and Mabel they are so cutes to me. Ford is full of whimsy and love for the weird and usual. Yes he looses that a touch when he went through the portal but honestly i feel a lot of that his is driven nature. He’s as goal-oriented as it comes and if hes there to save the world, of course that takes main stage.

However you can see (especially the Alien Ship episode) he adores the sci-fi and supernatural. That love and admiration never disappeared.

Mabel IS the weird girl. Shes strange and outgoing, she takes compliments when they’re insults. She comes up with strange solutions to problems, and so fourth. As well as she is full of love and whimsy for the world around her.

They would be two peas in a pod. She might not be into the paranormal/supernatural like Dipper is, but she is into magical creatures and the fantastic like Ford is.

Not to mention the whole “alpha twin/older twin” connection they have. I feel constantly that Mabel admires Ford. Maybe not idolize him like Dipper does, bur admires his strength and commitment.

I feel as though as Mabel gets older, and explores her more alternative and nerdy side to herself, she would look up to ford a lot.

Understand him on a better level then when she was younger, and they’d relate to eachother a lot in that respect.

As well as Mabel loves Dipper. That’s a cannon fact. Dipper is one of the most important human beings in her life and theres a cool, older, verison of them thats ALSO similar to their beloved grunkle stan? Yeah no fuckin duh their would be chemistry there.

Not to mention the whole projecting stanley onto mabel thing that Definitely happens (you cant convince me otherwise). Obviously they arent rhe same, but that brashness and even kindness that Stan and Mabel share is undeniable and I could easily see Ford be attracted to that in a sense.

They love the world around them, they want to be better versions of themselves, and they remind eachother of their favorite people. Of course I think they’d connect too!

You are going to do things you can't even imagine right now. You are going to read a rlly good book. You are going to eat some rlly good food. You are going to experience joy again. Things can get better. Situations can change. You can choose to be kinder. The world can change for the better.
