Review: The Hudson Project
Joe-San reporting in after a day of rest!
Tumblr media
(img: WOTMP)
So The Hudson Project was interesting to say the least.
We had great neighbors, crazy weather, good music, and amazing food for the two and a half days the festival ran.
The performances I saw were great, this review is gonna break down each artist on a daily set by set basis.
Lindsay Lowend defiantly had great vibes with such an early set. Lindsay didn't go too hard, he instead stuck with his melodic trap vibes that his music is known for. It was a great set to start my festival weekend and I retreated back to my camp site until Keys 'N Krates.
Late afternoon came around and I had rushed over to the circus tent to catch Keys 'N Krates. The trio had what was perhaps on of the higher energy sets of the weekend. With playing their staples such as their own twist on Ques "OJ Bobby Johnson' and their track with GrandTheft "Keep It 100" the crowd loved every second of it from beginning to end.
Kill Paris ended up not being able to play for whatever reason so Bro Safari was next on my list.
Bro Safari has always put on a great show every time I've seen him and he did just that. He messed around with not only trap but hard style on top of some of my favorite electro tunes. Ending his set with his iconic song "scumbag", Bro Safari had the crowd chanting the lyrics "When I die I want to go to hell, cause I'm a piece of shit and it ain't hard to fuckin tell". It was a great way to end the set as I rushed over to Odesza for a bit before Savoy went on.
(img: savoy)
Tumblr media
Savoy was known to get the lazers out and by get them out I mean REALLY get them out. If you wanted a seizure of awesome, you went to the Savoy set. Things went especially crazy during their VIP of "I'm in Need". Shouts out to the light guys for making the Savoy not only a musical experience but a visual one as well!
Excision came on a bit after Savoy and we were treated to a HEAVY show. Dropping all the bangers from most of the heavy genres. We got "Party Monster" by Krewella as well as "Crowd Control" by Excision and Datsik. Shout out again to the production team that made the Excision set even better with well timed lazers and cannons! >> video <<

(img:excision)
That concludes Day 1 of the fest. I went back to my camp site and slept like a baby.
Day 2
Woke up in the late afternoon Day 2 and had just gotten to Kastles set that was deeper then the ocean floor. With a combination of deep house tunes and chill-trap. Kastle certainly played one of the more impressive sets of the festival!
Luminox was up next on my list, who played a nice array of Electro and Trap tunes that kept that "turnt" vibe going. The circus tent that he was playing under had gotten a whole lot hotter as his set went on.
Next up was my personal favorite of the festival and that was Jennifer Lee aka Tokimonsta! I've seen her quite a few times such as Coachella and Electric Zoo and she always impressed. She wasn't afraid to go genre hopping between hip-hop, trap, deep house, and more. This captivated the crowd in the Catskill Cave and even heard a few times "WHATS THE NAME OF THIS FUCKING SONG." Tokimonsta exposed new music to an audience that was perhaps unfamiliar with anything outside of the festival/beatport scene.  >> video <<
After being in awe from the Tokimonsta set, I decided to head over to the main stage for Big Gigantic as I have never seen them before (SHUN ME IF YOU WILL) and I was nearly blown away. After during their own rendition of RL Grimes and What So Not's "Tell Me", I knew I was in for something special. Give it a few minutes after Tell Me and it starts raining and the festival attendees screamed with joy and Big Gigantic went even HARDER. The rain came at the perfect time since the weather was a bit on the hotter side that day.  >> video <<
Up next was Griz and his sexy Sax at the Circus Tent! Griz utilizing his saxophone on certain tracks whilst dropping bangers such as Skrillex's "Dirty Vibe" had the crowd in it from start to finish! >> video <<
I finished the second day with Moby (dj set) who had a sub par set as far as track selection goes. But hey, it's Moby and in the eyes of everyone he'll always be good.
Now you're probably wondering why Day 3 isn't on here.
Tumblr media
(img: THP)
Well we don't talk about Day 3.
Overall aside from a few obstacles and just the overall insanity of the weekend, I had a great time. Met new people, got to know the ones I knew even better.  The music was amazing and the little things such as the hookah lounge made it even more fun. Thank you to MCP Presents for having us cover the festival and we'll be back soon!

Dance Safe !!
It's that time of year again: festival season starting up, gathering of the homies, and spending large amounts of time in front of giant loud speakers. Hearing Loss is not a game and something very serious, so I urge each and every one of you to do the smart thing and PROTECT YOUR HEARING  There are many affordable, comfortable ear plugs out on the market that will not take away from the beauty and intricacies of the sound, but only block the harsh frequencies that do damage to your ears.
Tumblr media
One that I've found popular among many people are EarPeace. I've attached a link where you can read up all about hearing protection, and purchase some of your very own on the low low. ONE LOVE FAMILY  I care about y'all.  http://www.dancesafe.org/hearing-protection/ http://www.earpeace.com

May 13, 2014 - Cloud 9 Adventures has announced the details of the legendary Dominican Holidaze fan experience. In it’s eighth year, this destination concert event is traveling to Breathless Resort & Spa in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - a new resort in a new locale.  The event features host bands The Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee and STS9 for four days and nights of music on December 3 - 7, 2014.  Support acts include Lotus, The New Deal and Rob Garza (Thievery Corporation) Solo DJ Set.
Each headlining band will play two full 2-set shows over the four nights, and for the first time they will each play their third show on the beach at sunset. Fans can also expect DJ sets by the pool as well as post-show parties. More than just a series of concerts, Dominican Holidaze is an all-inclusive concert vacation where all meals, drinks, shows and accommodations are included in the package. Fans have the unique opportunity to interact with the artists and participate in many on-site activities, or explore the region on one of the off-site excursions and enjoy a truly up close and personal experience.
The tropical locale, stunning turquoise waters, swaying palms along the coastline, and luxurious accommodations of the brand new Breathless Resort & Spa create a magnificent backdrop for this special event.  This beachfront resort is perfectly situated on the northeast coast in the Uvero Alto region of Punta Cana.  The finely appointed, spacious suites, world-class spa and the resort’s modern design and vibrant colors give this latest edition of Holidaze a fresh vibe. Plus, unique touches like open-air plazas, communal tables at gourmet dining venues and multiple pools complement the open air atmosphere and bring the fan community together.  Dominican Holidaze offers music fans a genuine luxury vacation relaxing on the beach with friends by day while listening to their favorite bands on the beach by night.
In addition to all of the great music, Dominican Holidaze has partnered with the charitable organization Positive Legacy, who’s mission is to integrate live music and service by taking actions that positively impact local communities and the environment.  Most recently in this region, Positive Legacy donated over $25,000 to contribute to the construction of a Waste Water Treatment facility in the nearby village of Veron. Positive Legacy and music fans worked in conjunction with the local Peace Corps and the Ecological Foundation of Punta Cana in March 2014 and the project is currently at 75%  completion. A day of service will also be planned for Dominican Holidaze, stay tuned for more information on ways of giving back to the community with Positive Legacy.
  Event details are as follows:
All-inclusive packages go on sale to the general public beginning Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 12:00 PM ET atwww.dominicanholidaze.com. There will be a pre-sale for returning Holidaze guests on Thursday, May 20, 2014.

In 2010, the event moved to Riviera Maya Mexico and added STS9 for a 4 year run known as Mayan Holidaze.  After 4 years in Mexico, Holidaze is making the pilgrimage to the Dominican Republic, perfectly situated on the northeast coast in the Uvera Alto region of Punta Cana.

The Disco Biscuits Faceboook:
MCP Presents:
After producing Camp Bisco for the past 9 years, it has become one of our favorite weekends of the year; but after much deliberation we have made the collective decision with The Disco Biscuits to take the year off.  We’ve had a great partnership with The Disco Biscuits and Camp Bisco and are extremely proud of what the event has become. While we take the next year to re-group on Camp Bisco, we’ll focus our energy on some exciting new ventures in 2014.
