I actually do feel like the "unemployed friend on a Tuesday" meme actually helps de-stigmatize unemployment because it frequently affirms that when you don't have a job you're more likely to be getting up to some weird shit rather than just lazing around. But I also feel like the unemployed friend is frequently up to some random shit because there's a whole pile of miscellaneous life tasks that full-time employment keeps people from. The unemployed friend is helping their cousin move, or babysitting, or checking in with a neighbor with mobility issues. The unemployed friend is a walking thesis on the inflexibility of our current labor landscape and just how much work exists outside of work.

Right now, famine is hitting us harder than ever, my heart cries whenever I go to the market to buy any basic necessities! The prices are crazy, and most days my children survive on just bread Hunger and thirst are destroying us, and cooking on fire increases our suffering unbearably! Severe eye and chest sensitivity, in addition to constant stomach pain due to the type of food and the way it is cooked.

All this while we flee from one place to another in fear of bombing, bullets, and imminent danger! I cannot describe what I feel, but it is a feeling beyond exhaustion!

Went with Louisa to her first pride parade as moral support

Gave Karl to Edgar. He claims that he got him from an animal shelter but really, he just found him rummaging in the trash

Bought Lucy like half of her stuffed toys

Tends to avoid Margaret because she reminds him of Zelda's snobbish southern family (see above)

Also avoids Nathaniel, even before the Guild arc happened

Canonically a girl dad but wouldn't mind a son. Still a girl dad tho

Reads more newspapers than actual literature

Paid for Zelda's ballet and art classes

Has scented candles EVERYWHERE

Had a storage full of fireworks for parties and shit. He actually got written up by authorities once because that place was a fire hazard waiting to happen

Plays golf (idk its a rich person sport to me)

You know he was waiting to buy a luxury liner just to name it after his wife

Is actually a rather tragic character if you think about it. His ambition revolves around stitching his broken family back together and hes willing to sacrifice his entire fortune to accomplish that. And remember, he canonically believes that hes nothing without his money and status. So, i dont think its too far off to assume that he has depression or something like that. Mans literally lost his child and his wife has gone insane. Its easy to disregard him as a silly american money man but that would be some very surface-level characterization for a show that prides itself on complex and deep characters. He's a morally grey antagonist with good intentions, some downplayed trauma (from his daughter's death and some other shit in his life, id assume) and some undiagnosed shit going on.
